Diana was carrying her handbag, looking for somewhere to sit in the aeroplane. She picked a seat near the window and settled there, Jake was still talking to the pilot and giving him some instructions. Dominic had not arrived and Jake was complaining ever since they left the office that he arrives late at every flying session.
Checking that her small essentials are inside the bag, she looked at her phone for any important message from Dan.
Lifting her face she saw Dominic running in with his small suitcase, Dee laughed at him because he was missing one shoe and his socks were different. Breathing heavily, he handed his bag and it was placed under the luggage compartment before jumping into the plane.
Jake looked at Jim with raised brows, wondering where he had been to have him come in a rush.
"Sorry, I was held up with some work, hello Dee," he said amidst his ragged breathing.
"Seriously, work?" Asked Jake as he demonstrated it in a peculiar way making Dominic feel embarrassed.
Dominic threw him his jacket and sat opposite Dee before picking a glass of water.
The pilot alerted them and they were asked to fasten their safety belt and prepare to start their journey.
Dominic decided to go to the co-pilot side. He loved the scene that displayed itself every time they flew, the clouds and the sky when it was not raining.
Dee was fumbling with the safety belt and the plane was about to the place. Jake threw his glance in her direction and saw the worry that was plastered on her face.
'Oh no,' he thought as he quickly walked over to her and helped her click the safety belt. He then realized it was not the safety belt that had a problem, her hands were shaking and they were all sweaty.
"Hey hun, look at me," said Jake as he stroked her cheeks.
She slowly opened her eyes and looked at him, "I am sorry about this, it's my first time flying," she mumbled and Jake sat beside her. Clasping her hands into his, the plane took off.
"Look at me, stop looking outside hun," Jake asked her and she threw her head on his chest.
"I feel like I am going to pee on myself, please don't be mad," said Dee while gripping his neck tightly.
Jake didn't want to lash at her, he has been there, when his dad used to have it all, he peed on himself on the first day and was ashamed but his mother rocked him in his wet pants until they were up safely that's when she changed him.
He placed his hands on her back and gently rubbed her back, singing a childish song into her ears, Dee slowly stopped shaking and the plane flew into the air until everything we okay.
After she felt comfortable, she removed her head from Jake's neck and slowly looked outside, she felt embarrassed by the situation, "I also peed on myself when I was young my first time."
She looked at him and wiped the stains of tears that were painted on her cheeks with the back of her hand, Jake decided to wipe it off with his handkerchief after the stains were still visible.
"I am sorry, I don't think I will get used to it," she said and Jake smiled back at her.
"Let me catch up on some work, you know I can't do anything when I am around you," said Jake cheekily.
Dee nodded and left him to go to his work as she checked her social media.
She loved checking various things on social media, looking at Instagram, she saw pictures of her sister, she was in the Maldives with a man whose hands were the only figure posted on Instagram, Dave posted about his trip to Bora Bora where he had accompanied his boss for a business trip, he looked stunning in his small swimming trunk. The funny thing is that the hand of his boss was visible in the last picture, making Dee wonder if his boss was also swimming with him.
She went to his inbox and dropped him a message, he knew he was not online so it would be difficult for him to answer.
She was bored with sitting and doing nothing, she decided to stalk her boss and see the various pictures of him on Instagram. This is something she has never done since she started living with him.
She knew his name because he is verified on Instagram, she couldn't contain herself from gushing at his handsome pictures. Most of the pictures were of him in meetings and few of them took while he was on his time.
She was not interested in the recent pictures, she scrolled to the first picture where he was together with his sister. The first land they bought had the mansion built there. She realised that in most pictures it was either him alone, with Dominic or with his sister. He didn't see any picture of him with other girls or men she doesn't recognize, not even the friends he was with on the day he visited the diner.
She was about to close the Instagram section when she saw a notification, "Jake just posted a picture," she quickly scrolled through and saw the picture that Jake had posted, looking at him below the phone he was busy, 'how did he post the picture then?' She thought to herself.
Looking at the picture, she had to add more light to her screen and look at it again, 'what?'
It was a picture of her in the aeroplane playing with a phone in her hand but her face was hidden with a love emoji.
She threw a glance at Jake who grinned at her and she looked at the picture twice with shock written all over her face.
The caption read, 'looking beautiful today, aren't we ❤'
She had to look at Jake twice to confirm that this was real, how he had taken the picture was something she didn't know. Dominic was the first one to comment with some love emojis.
She knew the moment they land down, the paparazzi will be waiting for them, to know who she was and where Jake was going.
Suddenly she saw a text from Dave, opening it was the same picture with a question mark below it, 'you didn't tell me you guys are a thing now?'
She didn't know what to reply. She took the opportunity and forwarded the question she had asked him on Instagram but the next thing she got was a phone call.
She excused herself and went into the kitchen to answer it. Jake wondered why she was answering the phone away from him, 'am I jealous now that she is not answering it here?'
He wanted to stand up and pretend that he wanted to get coffee from the kitchen but that will be a lame excuse. He tried to strain his ears to listen to what she was saying.
"Jesus, stop it, why are you doing that?" Dominic startled him from his action and suddenly he looked at him with a frown.
"She has never walked out to get a call, she just takes it there, well no one has ever called her when we are together," said Jake with an embarrassed face.
"I am getting some snacks, do you want some, or do you want me to eavesdrop for you?" Asked Dominic in a sarcastic tone.
"Just coffee will be fine," replied Jake in a low voice.
Dee sat on the small bed that was a side compartment from the kitchen.
"I asked you the question first, where were you guys and did you guys swim together?" She asked Dave.
"It's a long story sweets, we are just having a moment, you know these relationships don't last, he just came in one day, called me onto his office. He closed the door behind him and kissed me, I had wanted to do that with him you know. But right now he is acting as if nothing happened."
Dee felt the heavy heart that Dave was relying on the message to her. If this is how love with Jake will go, she feels like she won't be ready for anything to come.
"Is he still shouting at you in the office?" Dee asked because his boss tended to shout at him over small issues
Dave cleared his throat before answering her, "no, he is not, but he is cold, most of the time je just emails me what he wants, unlike the other days when he used to call me and ask me to get him something. I feel like he used me, Dee."
Dee heard him crying, she didn't know how to calm him down, she wanted to tell him to forget about it and go on with his life but that will be a very hard thing to do.
"What if he is going through a phase, maybe he is surprised with himself, especially if he has never felt any attraction towards the boys," advised Dee.
"I don't know but I feel like he doesn't want me anymore, and I cant resign from my work because I don't have any other place to get a job like this Dee," said Dave.
Dee didn't know what to tell Dave, she has never been in his situation but she felt his fears, the fear of being used, abandoned.
"I know this is stupid but, how was the kiss?" Asked Dee, she wanted to verify the previous behaviour before giving her judgement.
She heard Dave sigh, "he was good, I think je enjoyed it, his moaning, the way he called my name during the action he loved it."
"Just give him time, I know avoiding him is hard but please give him some time, he might be confused about whether he loves you because this is a new thing to him, just bear with him, okay?" Said Dee, something new needed someone adjusting to it and that's what she hoped will happen to the two of them.
'What about Jake, will he do that to me, try to adjust because he had sex with me?' She couldn't imagine herself in that situation. She will be crying all day because of that. She felt Dave's pain and felt useless that she can't do anything about it. Instead, ask him to be patient with something that was killing him.
She walked back to the plane and met Dominic in the kitchen, Dominic looked at her with raised brows, "did you hear that?"
Dominic poured some coffee into a cup and looked at her, "I know you are afraid that things might go wrong, but just try he is happy now, calm and focused unlike when you were not around and I believe your friend will be okay."
Dee watched him take the cup to the plane and he picked some crisps from the cabinet and headed back to the plane.
