"How is she?" Ashton looked at Dr Bernard with worried eyes.
Dr Bernard sighed with a small smile, "She's fine. Nothing broken and no concussion. The bruising will heal, especially with the cream I gave her."
Ashton relaxed for the first time since he heard the crash from the back of the bar when he had gone looking for Emmaline.
The sinking feeling that had started when she took too long to come back from the bathroom had only grown into a pit of dread when he heard the sounds of a struggle.
"As for you," Dr Bernard rested one hand on Ashton's shoulder, "All I'll say is that you take after more than just your father's looks."
Ashton frowned.
"I just mean, I remember a rather similar situation about twenty years ago," Dr Bernard gave a mysterious smile, "Damon had never been so anxious about anyone else before."
There wasn't any way to refute it.
Ashton hadn't been so afraid in his life before.
