It felt as though someone had rammed a knife straight into his chest and then twisted it.
Ashton fought to keep his expression neutral.
"Em, are you alright?" He asked softly.
Emmaline scoffed, her grey eyes flashing with annoyance, "Don't call me that, you don't know me at all."
Ashton clenched his jaw, "Are you hurt?"
"You were going to give up your inheritance to keep me safe?" Emmaline asked patronizingly, "Why would you do something like that?"
Out of the corner of his eye, Ashton noticed a small, dark haired girl with her phone out and filming the whole thing.
Her expression was gleeful and he recognized her from that time she had barged into his office.
So that was where Donovan was getting his funds from.
Ashton kept his gaze steady on Emmaline, noticing that she was a little pale.
