Chapter 6

Still holding onto him like my life depends on it, he is not resisting and I'm not letting go too. I held tightly to his shirt and sniff, wiping my nose with the back of my palm. His hands are caressing my hair at a slow tempo giving me a sense of belonging and comfort.

I pull away realizing the hug had lasted more than normal, he cups my cheeks in his hands and looks into my eyes with that assuring smile.

"You will be fine, Miss Moore," he says.

Walking back to my seat, I lower down and he does the same, sitting in front of me, I look away with a sigh.

"Why do you come here?" I finally find the voice to ask him after some minutes of silence. He sighs and takes my hands in his, I wanted to pull away but I eventually give in to his demand.

"I heard the news, Miss Moore. Coming to this coffee shop is one of my things but I'm also glad to run into you, it will be alright." He shakes his head with a smile to demonstrate his words.

"Let's order another cup of coffee for you. You've almost squeezed the life out of that," he pointed at my cup and I chuckled.

The lady that served me earlier brought two cups of coffee as instructed by Alex Williams, we're enjoying the coffee. I'm also enjoying his jokes, I never knew he was so jovial, with my eyes fixed on his lips and his smile anytime he speaks and makes me laugh.

Right now, I've been laughing so much and I have forgotten all my troubles. Not stating the way he makes my heart skip each time he touches my hands and squeezes them softly, the time his gaze lingers, I'm sure the butterflies in my stomach are somersaulting right now.

"I'm relieved to see you smile Miss Moore," he muttered while smiling that creepy smile.

I interceded with a frown.

"Elizabeth. You can call me Liz, that's what my friends call me." I ordered, stretching my hand out for a perfect introduction shake, he took my hands in his and giggled.

"Nice to meet you, Liz. Alexander Williams is the name."

"Alex Williams has always been the name," I muttered but he heard it anyways, he just chuckle.

We're down with two cups of finished coffee and onto the next three. I know it's crazy and unhealthy to consume that much but we can't help it. We're in a coffee shop, right? No alcohol, just coffee to keep us talking.

It feels like time stops anytime I'm with him. The evening sky is gone as the darkness evolves the city when we stepped out of the coffee shop, we have been here for some unnoticeable hours with each moment full of love, laughter, giggles, chuckles and everything beautiful.

Leaning on my car, Alex is beside me holding unto my left hand. I'm now facing him as he speaks about the sudden change in the weather.

"Are you ready to go home? I can drive you," he offered and I nodded positively without any hesitation.

Should I even state the obvious that I don't feel like letting him go?

I know he feels the same each time our gaze lingers, I can feel his emotions in every unspoken word, in his smile, in his touch but I'm also afraid, afraid of us being together any time soon. I know he is too, I can feel it.

I'm a thirty-two-year-old billionaire who is the talk of the Town in everything scandal. He is twenty-six, currently working his way into fame, I fear that he will ever want to be tied down with me.

"Is anything wrong? You've been sighing for hundred times now," Alex asked with his left hand on my hands while the other hand on the wheel.

I've been sighing but it hasn't been up to a hundred, why is he exaggerating?

"Can I guess what's on your mind?" He pulled the car to a stop while focusing on me, I nodded.

He reaches out for my cheeks and held them as if they are the most delicate items he has ever touched, his smile is replaced with a serious expression, the one he only put on when discussing business.

I didn't look away from his hazel blue eyes, I study every move as they did the same with mine. Our faces draw closer with our hearts beating in perfect rhythm, I feel his breath on my face and I'm sure he's feeling mine too. My eyes close in as my hands wrap around his neck when our lips collide, we fight for dominance, expressing every unspoken emotion as my tongue slides into his mouth. Panting for breath, we break up for some seconds to breathe in. He immediately connected our lips again, and this time we kissed passionately and slowly. He pulls me up and I'm now sitting on his lap, I don't even care about the damage we're doing to the car. I just want this moment to last forever.

"You're perfect!" He breathes out, our forehead in connection, I smile and embrace him tightly, feeling his skin on mine. I disengage from the hug and peck his lips.

"Should I have my hopes high?" He questioned, his hand on my thighs.

"Should you?" I teased. "... and should I?" I asked.

He takes my phone and type in his number before resuming our journey back to my house. I can't believe we just shared a kiss, a passionate one. My head is going crazy, I can't wait to share this news with Vicky but I'm also scared that Vicky wouldn't be convinced to approve of our relationship. I know we're not in a relationship yet, but it feels like I've known him for years, the kind of feeling I have when I'm with him is the one I haven't experienced, not even with Darren.

And I don't think I'll be needing anybody's approval to make this work, I will be ready to fight the whole city to have him by my side.

Alex dropped me at home and yes, we shared another kiss before he left. I'm smiling while unlocking the house, he didn't want to come inside my house which is quite understandable.

My lights are on making me wonder who is inside the house, it can only be one person, he's the only one that has a key to unlock my house in my absence.

Stepping inside to face Jackson, my elder brother who is balanced on my couch with a glass of wine. He smiles at me with his perfect dentition, he is known for it.

"How do you enter my house, Jackson?" I sigh, not returning his greeting. He can't be stalking me like I'm still ten years old, he should have informed me before coming over. What if I brought Alex in?

"Come here, my little darling girl. I've missed you, my super lady," he pulls me into a hug.

"Back to my question. I need an answer, Why didn't you inform me before coming over?" I inquired sitting down on the couch while removing my shoes.

He clears his throat after taking a sip from his glass of wine.

"I heard the news and I decided to come to check up on you. I called Victoria after some failed attempts of getting through to you, she suggested that you might be at home since you were not in the office." He explains.

"Why didn't Victoria call me?" I ask no one in particular while searching for my phone. I sigh, it has been on but in a flight mood.

"I will go change up. It's late already, do you plan on sleeping over?"

"Do you want me to sleep over? It's never too late for a lawyer to walk around the city, I can always make my way back home if you want but that will be after our conversation. I will be waiting for you."

I walk out of Jackson to my room. Stripping myself off all the pieces of clothing, I took a quick shower. I'm filled up with coffee. Remembering all the cups of coffee I drank at the shop brings back the memory of our first kiss. It won't be an exasperation to say that coffee brought us together.

I'm smiling all my way through while fitting myself into my comfy pajamas, right now I don't care what the city is saying about me and the damn pictures. I only care about one thing, getting Alex's love, will be enough.

Looking at my brother setting up the dining table is a feeling of nostalgia. Taking the plates from him, I smile at Jackson, he never ceases to amaze me. The aroma of his food feels my nostrils and I salivate in anticipation.

"I know you can't wait. Hahaha, have a sit darling," he chuckles while pulling out a chair for me.

He did the serving, my favorite pasta with a vegetable sauce. Having a taste of the vegetables, I gave him a high five and smiled sheepishly at my display.

"You haven't changed a bit," he adds with a laugh.

The rest of the eating was done in silence. I did the honor of clearing and washing out the dishes while Jackson continues with his wine and whatever he is watching on the TV.

I lower down beside him shifting his attention from the TV.

"What's this family discussion about?" I raise a brow at him.

"... don't tell me you're about to come out to me, my only brother is not gay right?" I finished the last sentence with my palm on my mouth, he throws the chair pillow at me and we laughed out loud.

Seconds ago we were laughing, now he's all serious, looking at me for some answers.

"What did Victoria tell you?"

"The truth. She said you're involved with the Williams..."

"Did she tell you it was all her plan?" I cut him short with an intense gaze at him.

"Yes, but..."

"No, but. No, but, I'm done with you two. How can you judge someone before getting to know them?

Because of one stupid assumption?" I paused, looking at him furiously.

"I should be the one apologizing to Christine. I feel so stupid for being a pun in Vicky's dirty investigation job. And you? A lawyer is here to interrogate me," I snap with a clap of my hands.

Jackson reached out to my hands and held them.

"I'm always looking out for you..." He is interrupted by the knock on the door, I look up at him and he shakes his head in confusion.

"I'll get it," he says, walking to the front door.

He opens the door and Vicky walks inside with a smile at Jackson, he gives her a quick side hug. I sigh as the two is walking closer to me, slumping down on the couch with my eyes closed.

"What happened to your phone and why didn't you call me? Are you fine?" She questions, sitting down beside me.

"That's because I was doing very fine. I'm fine Vicky," I assured.

Now, I never imagined my night to be like this after having a perfect evening with Alex. I planned to come back and have a shower and have some self-pleasure with the image of our moment together, then just lie on my bed and replay our kissing scene while smiling and eventually sleep off. Having this two around was certainly out of it.

"It will interest you to see what I've found out," Vicky exclaimed drawing Jackson's and my attention to her. She stands up while taking out something from her bag.

"I've been on this case since morning. I want to quickly apologize to you Liz, this is going to disappoint you," she adds, dropping the parcel on my lap.

Looking from Jackson to Victoria, they urges me to open and I did so with my heart beating at a fast rate.

It's photo footage, five of them clearly showing when Alex Williams is taking pictures of me during the business dinner. The same pictures are in the news.
