A Rude Awakening

Hey, guys here's the first chapter for Secured Future. Hope you enjoy-

...

Rolling over in my bed, I reached my hand out to hang out of the bed's edge.

Wait.

My bed is Queen sized, I can't reach out.

Snapping my eyes open I expected to see a friends room or something else that's explainable.

Instead, I was greeted by dull grey. There were no windows and the floor seemed to be rocking. The door was made out of what looked like steel.

Where was I?

I didn't have to wait long before the steel door was thrown open.

A woman stood at the entrance way. She had long green hair thrown in braids and slightly dark skin.

"Good, you're awake. We need to hurry, the ship is sinking." The mysterious woman rushed out.

The woman turned around and left the room, rushing to the left.

Shakily, I got up and followed her. I didn't feel like dying today.

"Hurry! We don't have much time!" The woman called out, rushing up on the stairs to my left.

Going up the stairs as fast as I could, I was shocked to see a storm attacking the ship. There were waves that tried to drag the ship down to the cold dark waters below.

I was thrown out of my temporary shock when the woman grabbed my arm and told me to jump onto the yellow boat with the rest of the survivors.

Following her instructions, I jumped and landed on the boat. Backing up, I made some space for the woman to jump as well.

The woman jumped onto the boat with the ease of someone who's done it a thousand times.

She ushered us into the small space that the boat had for us to be protected by the rain.

Looking around, I saw a few teenagers that couldn't be older than eighteen. The oldest one here was the green-haired woman.

There were two guys and the mysterious woman who saved us.

How was she able to respond so quickly to the storm? She also knew where exactly all of our rooms were.

Just who was she?

"We need to wait for the storm to pass and find land. After that, we can try to find help from someone who might come across us." The woman who I had my suspicions about ordered.

One of the teenaged boys wasn't happy with her giving orders because he started to challenge her authority.

"Who said we should listen to you? You could be the person who got us into this mess!"

The boy who said this had long orangish hair that went past his shoulder blades and had a distrusting face.

"Look we don't have time for this. We're all in danger if we stay in this storm. We have to get to land!" The woman said, leaving no questions

Turning my head slightly, I saw my backpack behind the athletic boy with black hair.

"Is that my backpack?" I asked, shocked to see it on the boat. How did it get here?

Crawling towards it, aware of the eyes that were on me, I started to sift through it.

I came across the photo album that I had of my family, my sketchbook and colored pencils, the family heirloom that was a ruby necklace that had gold chains, and my grandfather's watch. These were the only things that stood out amongst my favorite clothes.

I was going to have to relook through the bag once I got to land because there were a few pockets I didn't go throw.

Looking up I noticed the boys also had bags they were going through as well.

"What's the last thing you all remember", I asked. Wanting to find out if we had anything in common.

"All that I could remember was eating a much of barbeque and going to sleep. I never got on a ship or met anyone of you people before today." The long-haired boy said, his hands behind his head.

"Same. All that I could remember was eating all of my favorite foods and going to bed after telling my family goodnight." I said, my eyes narrowed.

Looking at the other two, I expected them to talk before I noticed that the rain stopped.

Unzipping the tent, I looked outside to see land in the distance.

"Hey, there's land up n the distance!"
