The midmorning sun baked the barren landscape as Kai carefully eyed the grinning man. He made an eerie sound as he wiggled on the ground, with his bones cracking with every bit of motion.

Kai analyzed the man, but the results were more confusing than telling.

[Human] [Body: Mortal-Grade-5] [Qi 1924]

"How is this thing considered a human?..." Kai whispered to himself as he threw a Qi-enhanced gem at the man while he was getting up. Kai wasn't one to let his opponent prepare himself right in front of him, so he attacked immediately.

The gem exploded on the man's body, followed by a loud booming. After a few seconds, the dust cloud slowly blew off, revealing the unharmed man. He was now crouched on the ground with both arms crossed in front of him defensively but still had the creepy smile.

Kai could tell that he had protected himself with Qi, so the damage he took was minimal. As Kai was preparing to throw more gems, the man suddenly spoke.
