Consolidation of Power (2)

Kai got off the bed and walked over to Mina. "Activate [Sub-Core Manual]" Kai thought as he felt the deep connection to Mina's [Sub-Core].

[Sub-Core 1] [Qi 0/10]

[Manuals]

>None

"Transfer the modified version of [Dragon Subduing Law]" Kai thought as he touched Mina's stomach. Mina had been watching Kai this whole time and was surprised to see him walk up to her and suddenly put his hand on her stomach.

Her cheeks turned rosy but she just quietly watched him without making a sound. Lao Ren was also intrigued by what Kai was doing. He had long since figured that Kai must be an Internal Cultivation noble and their behaviors were always quite strange from his perspective so he too kept quiet and just watched.

Kai had played around with the system's [Sub-Core Manual] skill and figured out a few cool things that he could do. He could decide to transfer an entire manual as is, or he could remove some aspects of it and only pass on the parts he wanted to. In this case, he had created a modified version of [Dragon Subduing Law] that only had the passive daily [1 Qi] gain.

He would teach Mina how to absorb Qi from the surroundings so there wouldn't be a need for her to fight beasts to get stronger. This method was dangerous, but more importantly, it was just too overpowered to be used by others. Kai didn't want anyone else to be able to get stronger by killing monsters. At least not for now.

Kai removed his hand when he saw Mina starring at him directly.

"Ehem...I've imparted some of my knowledge to you. Try focusing your mind on your Qi source", Kai said, while trying to sound profound.

"Yes, Master!" Mina immediately replied as she looked inward and sensed her core. She noticed that the core now had intricate lines running over it but other than that, she couldn't feel anything different.

"I'm sorry Master, it must be my lack of talent but I can't feel anything different..."

Kai was surprised. The information had been sent to her core, so why wasn't she able to tell?. Kai gave it some thought and decided to just teach her the circulation method manually. He put his finger on her stomach again and transferred [1 Qi] into her core. Her core did not reject his Qi at all. Kai still had control over the Qi so he moved it along the circulation route while Mina observed.

Mina was surprised by how quickly and fluid the Qi was flowing inside of her body. With each revolution, she felt her mind clear up.

Kai was surprised by this. He thought the only way to increase her Qi cap was to modify her core, but it seemed that just by practicing the manual, she could stimulate her own potential. Kai slowly let go of the Qi inside of her body and Mina started to circulate it herself. She fell into a deep concentration as Kai received the system's notice multiple times in succession.

After about 30 minutes, Mina had reached her limit and could no longer practice. She was covered in sweat from head to toe as well, showing just how intensely she had been practicing.

Kai looked at the latest system notification with pride.

She was able to increase her Qi pool by [10 Qi] within just 30 minutes. Kai didn't know if she was naturally gifted or if this was normal. He would know for sure once he gave Ryu a core as well.

"At this rate, she should be able to get to the 100 Qi limit by herself. Now I just need to show her how to gather Qi..."

Her manual would passively gather [1 Qi] per day, but he wanted her to be able to gather it herself. Kai went on to the lesson of how to sense Qi in her surroundings. Mina was able to pick this up fairly quickly as well thanks to her [Divine Yin Physique]. She was able to sense the small particles of Qi in the air, but absorbing them into her body proved difficult. After an hour, she wasn't even able to suck in a sliver of Qi into her body.

Kai decided to leave her with that assignment while he and Lao Ren went out to look for a mount. To be honest, Kai was surprised by Mina's speed. She seemed to be a genius unlike him who was stumbling around while trying to find the right path.

"I guess that's the difference between pioneers and followers. Followers will always have an easier time walking the paths laid out for them". Kai sighed as he accepted his fate. He would face even more hardships in the future but it was all for himself in the end, so he didn't mind.

Kai and Lao Ren left the Inn together and headed for the beast tamer's store. The building was located at the edge of the town with a ranch located behind the building. There were hundreds of different beasts either in pens or roaming around the field.

Kai walked over to a man who was tending to a small sheep-like  creature. "Greetings were looking for a mount that can carry a large wagon while also moving fast. Would you have something like this?"

The man stood up and turned towards Kai and Lao Ren.

"Fast and strong huh, not too many that fall into both categories here. The only thing I know that falls into that is a [Cee-Horn], but those are only available at Huang City..."

Kai turned to Lao Ren who softly shook his head. "My Lord, [Cee-Horn] are indeed good but they are pricey. You would be looking at a minimum of 40 Gold for an old one and up to 70 Gold for one in its prime..."

Kai almost wanted to swear when he heard this. He wondered how those carriage drivers were able to afford such expensive beasts.

"How about you show us around?. I'll see if there's anything I like" Kai said as he gave up on the [Cee-Horn]. He couldn't wait until he had 70 gold so he decided to see what alternatives they had here.

The richer you get, the poorer you feel, for real.
