I sit in the back seat beside an uncomfortably quiet Arianna, I'm a tense mess.

My best friend was hurting from the inside right behind me and there was nothing I could do to help except keep my arms around her because she looks like she's a hairsbreadth from falling apart.

I hadn't even known that she had a thing for Cameron, that didn't speak well of our friendship but I guess Arianna kept secrets better than I remember.

She snuggles into my shoulder, starting to doze and I remember the first time we met.

It was at the beach, she was a sparkly little girl with bright red hair and a bubble pink swimsuit, she had been dragging her brother on a seashell hunt when she bumped into me, literally.

I was a moody and dark little boy, I still was, she was the color in my life and no one wanted to play with the weird little boy with black hair and black eyes, Arianna didn't give a fuck.
