Weird Resolution

Gerard has a pretty weird ambition. He wanted to gain everything and become famous, but he didn't use them.

He picked Smith Co., not the top stock trading company; the same also goes for today's event.

Gerard really hadn't planned to join; he was more inclined to join the main competition. His main reason for joining the competition held by a sports drink shop was because of his experience. He hadn't played Banzrant, so he was looking for something of a pre-run. It was not something unfruitful though, as he gained: prestige even though they didn't know Gerard's identity; he was the first runner up; and finally, out of pure coincidence, he met Kiel, the top player at Banzrant.

He was thankful that he didn't destroy Kiel in that small match; it would have been more impactful if he had been defeated in front of thousands of spectators. Gerard's devious inner thought surfaced for a second.

The spectators might reason that Kiel might've just gone easy on him, so it was more appropriate to deal with him on a bigger stage. It would have the greatest effect on the spot, he couldn't wait to see the face of Kiel when they battled for the title of champion.

Although he knows he'll win already,

All players in Banzrant tend to have a special skill like Quadrangle Zip Rush. They only possess one, though, because those skills have been so thoroughly analyzed and perfected that players couldn't keep up. That's how players even gained titles of sorts, with Kiel having the title of the Knightly Assassin.

During the start of the match earlier,

Gerard went for a more aggressive approach because he was getting bored with being proactive and his hands were not moving much.

Thankfully, it was the final round, and he can use the excuse that it's the final battle, in which he probably needs to use all of his skills. He didn't anticipate the arrival of Kiel, but it worked clearly, as they only thought how awesome Kiel was; they had somewhat lost Gerard.

With the first move and their continuous barrages, it may look like Gerard and Kiel were at a standstill, but in truth, it was just a facade that Gerard created. Kiel hadn't noticed that all of Gerard's attacks were timed perfectly.

Having a great sense of distance, reaction time, and some others might be part of the skill brought by the Gaming Expert skill he had gained from the system.

Amidst the barrage, Kiel got quite a distance before unleashing an unknown move on Gerard.

Skill was different from knowledge, so even with the help from the system, he didn't know what to do, so he waited right before the attack landed.

He was quite surprised by the attack, but since his hearing was also enhanced because of the skill, he was barely able to get out. A decent amount of hit points was deducted from him.

Though, because of the missed chance with Kiel, he was able to analyze what had transpired and what the skill was all about.

Firstly, he heard a change right before Kiel disappeared, which means it was a skill that involved the sword and not just the feet and legs. Second, seeing the slight burn marks on the ground, he was able to see the trajectory of the skill. Four sides? That's easy; he couldn't help but smile a bit from his chair.

After quite some time, Kiel disappeared again. He already knew what to do, but he decided to quit already, figuring that if the opponent was going to repeat the same moves, it would be rendered useless by Gerard.

He played a trick; he was going to kill his avatar by disguising it as a successful attack from Kiel. This way, Kiel would be slightly confused if he really won or not.

But who will give up the position of a winner? So no matter what Kiel thought, he would still accept being the winner.

Even after the fight, Gerard wanted to torment Kiel slowly. He wanted the facts to burst when the official tournament began. Knowing Kiel's skill, he would definitely join. When Gerard heard who Kiel was, he smiled in his mind but kept a stoic look.

Gerard accepted Kiel's handshake but left ever so quickly.

He sighed on his way back—why couldn't he stop teasing someone after such a long day. Maybe acquiring the company of the Smith Corporation was not enough to alleviate the remarks of the company's brat to Gerard.

"Why is he petty?" he asked himself and sighed. He doesn't freaking know. Just let nature run its course.

He had a good sleep in his apartment even when the surroundings were not suitable to live in. Although he was in a place where mice and other insects run rampant, he had the best night of his entire life. Who wouldn't be?

After a long night, he was awakened by the busy streets of the downtown alley. Amidst his messy room, he had conflicting emotions. He didn't know whether today should be a happy or a sad celebration.

While it's true that today commemorates the descent of Licht, the God of Light, it is also sad that he will again spend this day alone.

For once in his life, he decided to clean his room. It was a pretty hectic morning. He woke up at around 6:00 am, and the cleaning lasted until 9:00. Gerard wasn't able to fix the damages done to the apartment, but he lessened them so they would look more presentable.

He could just buy a mansion with the money that he has, but there is still a fragment in his heart that is preventing him from doing so.

Putting his emotions to the side for the time being, he had enough time to prepare to go to the DoubleZ Gaming Shop. He took a light bath and proceeded to head to the shop; he arrived after 30 minutes.

Contrary to his expectation, the 30 capacity computers were now almost full. He hadn't expected to receive this many customers during a holiday such as today.

When he entered, he was greeted by Bandit.

"Looks like you're just on time; I'm pretty beat up here with the number of customers. Didn't I tell you so? I've got a firm grasp on them," Bandit said with a wink.

Gerard shuddered when he received it and thought maybe Bandit was a demon in human clothing.

"Would you stop that? You're acting as if you have kidnapped them or whatever the hell you have done to them."

"Oh come on, you take a seat here and manage this. I'll take a quick nap upstairs," Bandit said as he stepped on the stairways.

Bandit added as he reached the second floor, "Just wake me up, it's urgent, if it's URGENT! Thanks!"

Gerard sighed. What can he do? Bandit may be a jester but still he is a good leader and a boss; just disregard the secrecy around him.

This was the most busy day he had ever gone through, some customers leave after an hour or so but there will always be someone to replace them. The place was packed with people, he even wondered if he's in the right store.

This goes on for hours until it was 5:00 pm already. Gerard didn't have any problems whatsoever downstairs. At the end of his shift, it was supposed to be Bandit's turn to manage the business but the latter decided to close the shop and order everyone to leave. Bandit also asked Gerard to stay, the latter was dumbfounded but still waited

Of course there were some who were unwilling.

"Owner, why would you close? The night is young, this is bullying"

"Yeah, don't close the shop yet!"

Basically, the whole shop was in chorus on boycotting Bandit's decision.

Bandit was unfazed though as he replied, "Who is the owner of this huh? I get to decide if you'll use it or not. You'll get an hour bonus if you leave now, just write your name here." Afterwards he showed a notebook and ordered for the notebook to be passed around the shop.

Seeing that Bandit wouldn't give in to them, they reluctantly just wrote their name in the notebook, lest they poke the limit of Bandit. How would they be able to play here again? The next shops are far away so the DoubleZ Gaming Shop is the most optimal place to use computers at an average price.

After some time, the shop was now empty. Only Gerard and Bandit were left.

"Why did you let me stay? Do you need help with something?" Gerard was worried about Bandit's expression; the latter's face was so serious until Bandit spoke.

"Let's start a party upstairs! I ordered so much that our stomachs will burst!" Bandit cheered.

"Me? Joining you?"

"Of course! Is there any other employee you're looking for? Come on and don't be shy in front of me"

"I'm shy? I don't think so, I was just waiting for your confirmation! My stomach will burst, I'll be a doctor and sew my guts back."
