The Intoxicating Feeling

Aviana Valos ended up wondering if she said something wrong when Evan stared at her for a while; his expression a mixture of confusion and a bit of displeasure.

"I'm not saying that you're a playboy," she clarified with a sigh. "What I'm saying is that... girls always gather wherever you are and that makes you give out a playboy vibe. To be honest, I've never really seen you getting close to any girl."

"But still, saying that I'm a bit of a playboy still hurts," Evan Livares argued without even much thinking. Soon, a playful smile crept across his face and he teased, "We already went to the same school for two years but it seems like you know nothing about me or others. Why don't you try to blend in more?"

When Evan realized what he just said, he instantly wondered how Aviana would react to it. Before today, they never really talked to each other, let alone spend time with each other. Will she be okay with him joking around with her?

Will she find him strange?

Much to his surprise, Aviana Valos frowned at him.

"You talked as if you know a lot about me and others, Prince Adonis." Just like Evan, her tone was playful.

They didn't even know that they had been standing there for a while now and maybe they also forgot about their plans to wrap up quickly and go home!

As Aviana's response was beyond his expectations, Evan Livares ended up laughing. "I bet I will know more than you do. Unfortunately, that nickname gives me a lot of acquaintances and friends to pay attention to."

Aviana Valos struggled for words to say but... she hated to lose.

Was it because she was used to being at the top of whatever she invested herself in? Maybe.

No matter what, she hated losing!

While she was at a loss of words to say, they were suddenly startled by the sound of roaring thunder!

At the sound, Evan quickly shifted his gaze to the nearest transparent walls from where they stood and then sighed.

His mother clearly advised him not to get himself wet but it seemed like it was raining pretty hard out there!

"What are we going to do?" He asked as he turned his attention back to Aviana Valos who was standing opposite him.

"Why are you asking me that?" She simply asked him back. "You can go ahead if you want. I'm not that keen on going home early anyway."

"I can't do that," Evan sighed. "My mother told me not to wet myself in the rain. I will have to wait until it stops raining but... the sun's already set."

"You are such a good son," Aviana jokingly commented and they walked back to their seats. "It might not even rain long. What's the big fuss?" She simply stared at the transparent walls with a little smile on her face. "I love when it rains," she muttered without even looking at Evan.

The way she talked and behaved... she seemed so carefree and also comfortable with him. At one point, Evan was surprised.

He never knew that she had this side in her.

"You are always so quiet and dull at school. It feels like you're a different person right now," he said while cautiously observing Aviana's reaction.

He watched her slightly raising her brows as if she wasn't aware of that but soon, she flashed a smile. It was genuine and nothing like those smiles that he often found fake.

"Do I?" Her eyes rolled to the right and to the left as if she was thinking of something. Then she said, "Maybe you're good at bringing out a new side in people. I regard you as very pleasant to chat with, like... I'm comfortable with it."

Evan Livares was taken aback by how much what she just said meant to him. He felt so warm and... he found the feeling intoxicating. All of a sudden, fear found its way to him.

What if he lost control and end up wanting more? What if he ruined everything?

Before he could mutter any word, they were interrupted by the sound of Aviana's phone that went off. Taking note of the ringtone, a subtle smile appeared on Evan's lips. However...

When Aviana took out her phone and looked at the caller ID, her smile slipped a bit. She even hesitated for a while before she eventually rejected the call and put her phone inside her bag again. Her action drew the curiosity of Evan who couldn't bring himself to ask her anything.

Nevertheless, Aviana promptly started acting as if nothing happened and stared at the transparent walls again. "It seems like it won't stop raining that soon. It's getting even heavier," she muttered in a low voice as if she was talking to herself.

Evan quietly stared at her all the while. He truly wished to know what was on her mind but... he didn't think Aviana won't be open to such a talk. From what he saw right now, it seemed as if she was trying to run away from it.

To make him feel the pressure more, Aviana's phone rang again.

This time, there was a hint of annoyance on Aviana's face. She took out her phone from her bag and after looking at the caller ID for just a second, she rejected the call and even went as far as switching off her phone. She put it inside her bag but... when she looked at Evan, the reaction on her face was as if she was caught doing something bad.

"They just won't leave me alone," she muttered and shifted her gaze to the walls again right away.

Now, rather than being curious, Evan Livares was feeling bad for the girl who was sitting opposite him. They were the same age but... why did their life appear so different?

Until not long ago, she appeared as if she had everything while in his eyes right now, she looked like she lack many things.

"Are you hungry?" He suddenly asked rather than questioning her about the call. "Because I am and it seems like it won't stop raining soon. Do you want to go downstairs and have something in the cafeteria?"
