Shameless Masked Man

"I hope you don't mind me helping out," Raze said with indifference in his voice as he shamelessly tried to disguise his kill steal as him helping out.

Most of the humans present could pick up on this, but they didn't comment on it as they waited for the response of the purple-eyed boy whose kill was stolen.

"Hah, no problem, as long as you're only helping out."

"Sure, run ahead; I'll do my best to have your back," Raze replied.

[Ding! Climber has gained one beast shard.]

One strange notification appeared in front of Raze's eyes that only he could see.

Anyone else might have been startled to see something like this, but not Raze, as his previous suspicion was finally confirmed.

He was sure of it, but now wasn't the time to delve into it.

He couldn't afford to get distracted; if he wasn't careful, he would get an early grave similar to his past life, even in this new one.

Honestly, Raze wasn't sure that the gun that he had in his pocket earlier would even work.

Usually un this type of setting, modern weapons become useless against monsters.

Thankfully, his suspicions were proven baseless, and the gun worked as intended, assuming he managed to hit a vital spot.

Raze had never fired a gun in his past life, despite his interest in them and his father being a police officer.

So normally, he shouldn't have been able to even hit a still target properly, let alone a relatively small and moving target.

Especially in a vital spot on his first attempt.

But thanks to his class, Magic Archer, which allows him to be proficient with all long-range weapons, he managed to hit the goblin on his first attempt.

But even his class didn't help with the next two issues.

The first was the numbness he felt in his arm due to the recoil of the shot.

Thankfully, he had a pretty decent solution for this.

'Allocate my beast shard into endurance'

After saying this, Raze could feel a very minute change in his body as he felt it becoming ever so slightly sturdier, and the numbness in his arm subsided a little, allowing him to use the gun more.

As he keeps killing monsters, he'll get more and more beast shards, which he can spend on his endurance to freely be able to use his gun without worrying about recoiling.

Sadly, the second problem didn't have such an easy solution.

He was currently using a Glock 22, which, as the name suggests, had a total of 22 bullets in its magazine.

And assuming he could keep killing one goblin per bullet and only needed to kill a total of 20 goblins, he should be able to clear at least this floor.

The main problem started on the next floor, where he would only be left with two bullets without any extra ammunition.

Also, this was just a gut feeling, but Raze had reason to believe it to be true; he didn't think regular bullets would work on monsters stronger than goblins.

Meaning he was really on his own on the next floor.

But he was probably getting ahead of himself; after all, he should first worry about the problem ahead of him instead of worrying about the next floor.

With that cleared, Raze fired another bullet and took another goblin's life.

**

It had now been a few minutes since the first tutorial started.

Even the humans who were originally worried about their lives before got motivated after seeing both the masked boy and the purple-haired boy take out one goblin after another and join in, not wanting to be left behind.

Sadly, the humans got a rude awakening after joining, as the goblins were not as weak as both Raze and the blue-eyed boy made them out to look.

And a lot of them hesitated, which caused them to die.

After all, modern men and women living comfortably in a city could never even hurt a dog due to their moral reasons and the way society is made.

Taking the life of another sentient being was too much, even if it was trying to kill them.

And this hesitation caused them to lose their lives; after all, hesitation had no place in the tower of fantasia.

Also, seeing humans die left and right, the little confidence a few of them had barely managed to build up was destroyed.

Which led them to run around in panic, too scared to do anything.

The casualties were already getting pretty high and would have grown even more if not for Raze killing goblins and saving as many lives as he could from the background.

But even he couldn't save everyone, despite trying his best from behind, and the casualties were starting to climb up.

It was within this desperate situation that a hero emerged.

With a single swing of his sword, a slash of bright golden light shot forward and instantly killed three goblins, saving a family of four.

The flashy move, paired with the might displayed in a single attack that almost none of the humans present could replicate, caught everyone's attention for the second time.

This wasn't just because of the power of the attack but also because of the man who had performed it.

Bright golden hair and golden eyes that resemble the sun itself.

A smile oozing enough warmth and kindness to melt the coldest hearts and faces which looked too perfect to be real, without even a single blemish or dark spot.

But it wasn't just the boy's looks that caught everyone's attention, but rather the aura and presence he naturally exuded, which gave off a sense of protection and safety and caused him to be the centre of attention wherever he went.

In just a single swing of his blade, he had managed to chase away the fear that was clawing at the hearts of his fellow humans and calm them down while striking the same fear in the hearts of the monsters who saw him.

Such were the actions of a hero, which offered protection to his allies and death to his enemies.

Such was the man known as Alek Freeman.
