Chapter twenty two New home

It was two pm on Sunday afternoon when Caleb arrived at the hospital to escort her to their house. He, Miss Alice, and two of his cousins packed all the things she had in her hospital room and took them to their car while another two men stand by her door. Caleb then wheels the chair with her towards the entrance and the two men that were standing by her door walk behind them, but before he could wheel her outside her tightened grip on his hand stopped him.

"Hey, you alright?" He asks rubbing her hand that was covering his. "I can't go out there, he's out there, please don't take me out there." She pleads. He bends down in front of her chair and took her hands in his. "Come on now, you can't stay here. Listen we'll protect you, no one will hurt you, hey you see that beast of a vehicle out there?" He asks pointing to a big black SUV.

She nods her head but didn't look any less scared. "Every glass is bulletproof and once you're inside no one can get to you." "You don't understand, just being with me puts you and your family in danger, please, I can't do this to any of you, you're nice people and you have done enough, please just go, leave me, it's me he wants, not you" She cried.

"Listen, princess, he's going to have to go through all five of us to get to you and Faith, now close your eyes." He said. "What…why?" She asks wiping her eyes. "Because one way or the other I'm getting you in that vehicle." He said lifting her from the chair.

She grips his shirt and buries her face in his chest as he walks with her towards the vehicle, while one of his cousins carries Faith. He places her gently on the back seat and as he lean across her to buckle her seat belt he could still feel her trembling.

"Relax, you're safe, trust me." He said softly rubbing her shoulders while one of his cousins fastens Faith's car seat beside her and Miss Alice got in beside Faith. One of his cousins got in a car behind the one she was in and the other two got in the one in front of her.

Now, these cars look very expensive. Who were these people and where were they taking her and Faith? They said they were taking her to their house but why? Why would they open their home to a total stranger? Were they planning on holding her captive? Make her their slave? Oh God, what was going to happen to her and her Daughter?

So far they have said and done all the right things and they were extremely kind to her especially Tyler but again why? What were they getting out of all this? How were they going to extract payment from her? The thought made her shiver.

The very large intimidating man driving the car she was in lifted her from the chair like she weight less than ten pounds and she knew she weighs almost 170 lbs. Yes, she was short but she was also very plump and if he could lift her with such ease then keeping her captive was going to be a piece of cake.

She had nowhere to go and no one to help her; she was at the mercy of these people. She had admired Tyler for giving up his bed to come and watch over her at night but was that part of their plan, to keep an eye on her, make sure she didn't leave, and was Miss Alice a part of all this?

She turns and looks at the woman beside her daughter and the lady smile at her. She didn't look like a bad person but then again, what does a bad person look like? And why didn't she think about any of this in the hospital, well it was too late now, she was in their hands and there was nothing she could do about it.

She turns her attention to the scenery outside as the vehicle glide along the street. She might as well have been on another planet to how strange everything looks. They drive for what seems like hours and the dread in her grows more and more intense as the minutes' pass.

Then finally the car in front of her stop at an extremely large black iron gate. Holy Christ this gate looks like a prison. The gate opened to reveal a long driveway leading to the biggest house she had ever seen in person. She saw a few of them in magazines but holy cow.

It was painted in a cream color, kind of like off-white and it was three stories high and seemed to stretch on forever on both sides. What did Tyler call it, a vault, well he wasn't lying, and as the car came to a stop in the driveway way her dread turned to full-on panic?

Which didn't go unnoticed by the large intimidating man who was now unbuckling her seat belt. "Hey come on now, don't be scared, we're the good guys remember." He said as he once again lift her in his arms. "Please, let me walk." She said softly.

"Sorry, can't, dad said not to let you walk up the stairs, so I'll have to carry you." He said as the massive double front door open and he carry her inside and up the stairs.

Wow the parts of the insides that she could see were beautiful, large leather sofa, a very big crystal chandelier hanging in the hall he carried her through; Winding brown wooden staircase with glass in the barrier, expensive furnishings, beautiful curtains, and lots and lots of glass cases.

They took her to a big beautifully furnished bedroom where they told her that she and Faith would be staying. They helped her to settle in then left her for a few minutes to catch her breath.

She took a deep breath and look around the room. It was painted in light blue, the furniture matches the color of the room, she was on blue and white sheets on a large king-size bed. There was a white door to one side which she suspects was the bathroom. There was also a wide double glass door which she suspects was a closet and there was a sofa, wow, a sofa in her bedroom, also light blue, of course, this was one exquisite room.

They even got Faith a white crib and it was decorated with pink Barbie and little Mermaid blankets but why were these people doing all this? Is all this for real? Wait, Tyler did say she wasn't the first person they helped and she wouldn't be the last, and everything they did and said so far indicate that they really want to help her but come on, people this generous couldn't really exist, could they. Only time will tell but she couldn't possibly be in a worst situation than she was coming out of, or at least she hoped not.

A few minutes later Miss Alice came back with a bowl of soup and put it before her. "Come now, eat, you need your strength." She said as she began unpacking the bags. Janice relaxed for a while as she sips her soup and watches Miss Alice moving around the room.

The woman was short, fat with chubby cheeks and braids, she looks like an older version of her and she was always smiling and humming to herself. Janice's eyes again began roaming around the rest of the room.

The ceiling was painted white which glitters as the sun that was filtering through large glass windows shone on it. The windows were framed with light blue drapes and under the blue drapes were light blue and white lace curtains that were tied to each side by cords of fine blue silk to silver rings that hooked in yet another silver hook that was impaled in the wall.

She smiled to herself as she noticed that even the flowers in the white vase which had a glistening purple ribbon wrapped around it were also light blue. There was also a 40" L.C.D Plasma TV on its stand and a Compact audio system next to it. The appliances were clean and looked like they were just bought.

She didn't notice a fan but still, the room felt chilly, aw yes, the air conditioner, or A-C, she heard one of Tyler's cousins call it. If this room was this amazingly beautiful then what must the rest of this massive house look like? She wonders to herself taking in a deep breath of the sweet-smelling fragrance of the freshener that filled the room.
