"Hey, you okay man?" Ty asks coming to a stop beside Chad. "Yeah, yeah, I'm alright. Thanks for the dinner invite, Jessica and I really needed this." He sighs. "What's going on?" Ty asks in concern. Chad sighs heavily but said nothing. "The ladies are busy in the kitchen so let's take a walk," Ty suggests.
"With those beasts, you have walking around out there?" Chad asks arching his brow. "Don't worry, you're safe as long as you're with me." Ty laughs. "So what's going on with you guys?" Ty asks as they walk towards the pool. "Well financially things are great, my business is doing very well but emotionally…..Emotionally things are hard man, very hard." He said with a heavy sigh.
"I mean we're thankful that neither we nor anyone else was hurt in the fire but we lost so much. We have been trying to pick up the pieces but it's like a part of us is missing and we can't seem to get it back no matter how hard we try," Chad said and Ty could hear the pain in his voice and his heart went out to the man walking beside him.
"I'm so sorry man, I wish there was more I could do for you guys." "Trust me, man, you've gone above and beyond helping us at this point. If it wasn't for you, we would either be living with her parents or mine god forbid until we find a place of our own, although I don't think living with my parents would've been an option." He snorts.
"We're very grateful for all you've done for us already man but you know, that was our first house and it meant a lot to us," Chad said sadly. "So things are still the same with your parents?" Ty asks patting one of the dog's heads as the beast lay down not far from them.
"You would think that after everything we've been through they would've backed off but no; every chance they get it's 'you're too good for her; you're from uptown, she's from the Ghetto, it will never work.' Even though they can clearly see how far she has come, how much she has accomplished in her life. She's working in a highly respectable hospital in the ER department but none of that matters, they still can't accept her." He snorts.
"That's unfortunate, despite where she was raised, she's a very nice girl." "You know right, she knows how much she means to me but I know she's hurt because they won't accept her just because of where she comes from. Now her parents accepted me a long time ago but they don't think their daughter marrying a man whose parents won't accept her is a good idea and I can't blame them." He said.
"So where does that leave you guys?" Ty asks. "I love her with all my heart and we've already set a date for our wedding; she did tell you that you're my best man right?" "Yes, she did." Ty laughs. "I knew she would beat me to it. I'm going to marry her whether or not my parents accept her." His last words trail off on a sad note.
"A few days ago my parents told me that if I go through with this wedding, they won't be attending." He said sadly. "Surely they don't mean that," Ty said shaking his head. "Oh yes they do and as much as it hurts me to hear them say that, it won't stop me from marrying her." "Well, in that case, I'll be praying for you both and I hope everything works out, just let me know if there's anything I can do," Ty said. "Thanks, man, you're a good friend." "Goursh, you say the nicest things." Ty laughs and Chad burst out laughing at Ty's imitation of Goofy.
