Caleb's fingers were folded in a tight fist as he stood looking down at the freshly covered grave. He missed his chance at the funeral home, so he went to the church instead, waited until the service was over then followed the procession to the grave site.
He was so angry at his dead wife; he couldn't even think straight. He knew she had issues but this, no, this he didn't see coming. He took a deep shuddering breath and was about to release it when he heard a gun being cranked behind him.
He turns slowly and came face to face with Maya's mother, who had an extremely hostile look on her face and a gun pointed directly at his head. "I knew you were going to show up here, sooner or later, you disgusting piece of shit.
How dare you come here to dishonor my daughter's funeral? You're going to regret coming here pig. I'm going to put you in a hole just like this one." She growls in a cold deadly tone. "You stupid, clueless bitch." He growls in a tone just as hostile.
"What did you just call me? Oh alright, I will show you stupid and clueless." She said cranking the gun and taking aim, just then Samson run in between them. "Whoa! Whoa! No, stop just one damn minute." He shouts at her. "Only you would insult someone that has a loaded gun pointed at you," Samson said giving Caleb a disapproving glare.
"Get the hell out of the way, this has nothing to do with you. I'm going to send this asshole to hell where he belongs!" "And then what? Who's going to raise Annalee when you're sitting in prison?"
"Tamara can take care of that, now move, or I swear I'll shoot you too!" "No, she won't because she will be right there next to you, charged with accessory to murder. Please think about the kids, don't do this, shooting him won't bring your daughter back."
"Did you hear what he just called me, no, he's going to die, today, it won't bring my daughter back but it will stop him from doing this to another innocent young lady." "Trust me, there's no chance of him doing this again, he has learned his lesson, and scratched what he just said he didn't mean that..." "Like hell, I didn't! This bitch has the nerve to point a gun at me after what her daughter did! innocent? There was nothing innocent about Maya! You'll rot in prison for this!" Caleb shouts angrily.
"I'll rot in prison? You'll rot in hell!" "No one will be rotting anywhere; dude seriously, haven't you ever heard that kind words turn away wrath? listen you're angry, he's angry and this situation could very easily end badly for the both of you. With you in prison for his murder; now, Annalee has already lost her mother, please don't deny her the love and protection only you can give her."
"How can you defend him? He killed my daughter!" "Not directly, his actions contributed to her death, bottom line is, you suffered a great loss and you're grieving but this isn't the answer, please put the gun down before you do something you can't come back from," Samson said in a soft tone.
"Please give me the gun." He pleads holding his hands out to her. Caleb snorts and Samson sends him a cold glare. "Don't," Samson growls at him before turning back to her. "See, he doesn't have any remorse….." "This is not about him, this is about you, your grandkids, your freedom….please."
She slowly lowers her hand before handing him the gun. "Thank you, you made the right choice." He said squeezing her hand. "I may not have put a bullet in him but trust me when I say, what goes around, come back around, and you'll get yours." She said and turn to walk away but Tyler stepped in front of her.
"You can't leave, you may be the only person who could help us find Kayla." "Who is Kayla?" "My psychopathic ex. Your daughter bailed her out of prison and set her on a collision course with my wife." Ty said trying to keep his temper in check.
"What do you mean by that? She was just helping out a friend." Her mother says in a defensive tone. "So you do know about Kayla?" "No, but if my daughter bailed her out then she must have a good reason to." "She had a reason alright but I wouldn't say it's a good one," Caleb said hands fold across his chest.
"What exactly are you accusing my daughter of?" "We're not accusing her, we're telling you straight out that Kayla hates Janice a whole lot more than Maya did and that's the only reason Maya bailed her out," Caleb said in a cold tone.
"Sorry to hear that but I don't know this woman much less know where she is." She said hands folded. "Not that you would tell them if you did." A woman's voice said from behind them. They turn and saw a young woman walking towards them.
"Who are you?" Maya's mother asks in an annoyed tone. "I'm the one that bailed Kayla out of jail." The young woman said and stop in her tracks as all eyes were now on her, but the glare that caught her attention the most was the hostile pair from the very muscular dangerous-looking Indian man with his hands folded. Maya may have been a bad friend but she was right about one thing, this family had some really handsome men, intimidating yes, but handsome none the less.
