BEGINNINGS (1)

Fame is developed through an individual's achievements, accolades, hard work and dedication to a single or multitude of skills. The world of Sai Kido is known by many as "The World of the Fortunate." because Many people are reincarnated here with one notable quirk in common, the fact that in their respective worlds, they were the best at what they did. In a world such as this, people develop in different ways, as they have to adapt to a new world.

As the moon shines, crossing over the ocean at speeds unfathomable is a single man, cloaked in black with a red scarf, holding a satchel over his back. His name is Mikoto Hyakki, Patriarch of the Hyakki Family. In the bag, something moves about until it pushes its head out of the satchel.

"Father, where are we going?"

A young man with yellow hair and yellow eyes sticks their head with an expressionless look.

"I am taking you to the land of beginnings. This is a part of the rite of passage for the notable clans."

"I see."

"More info will be given when we get there Wazuki."

"I understand sir."

As Wazuki stares at his father's footsteps, he notes that his father is using a clan technique to run across the water without sinking once. Mikoto's speed is remarkable in itself to keep this technique going from one continent to another.

Once they get on land, Mikoto unwraps the Satchel and Wazuki jumps down.

"Was it really necessary to carry me like that?"

Naturally, it would be off to carry a fourteen-year-old child in a bag across the ocean so the question is validated.

"... It did the job. Regardless, get behind me. We have visitors."

The moment those words were said, three individuals walked out of the opening of the forest with swords drawn.

"Well, if it isn't Mikoto, the Silenced. Haha! There is a pretty big sum of money on your head so guess who is going to claim it?"

"Don't talk with the money! You should know this, Vance!"

"Both of you have to keep your eyes on the prize instead of arguing. His blade is drawn behind him."

Mikoto doesn't say a word but he looks at Wazuki once and then back at his opponents.

"Watch closely. It may be beneficial for your training."

Wazuki nods

And the fight begins

...except it ends in the same instant.

What happened could only be described as an instant assassination.

Mikoto got into a stance, decapitated the first target while throwing the knife at the second target, hitting them in the neck then using the brief shock of what had happened to sneak up on the third and stab them through the heart. At least, that's all the movement that Wazuki could keep up with and as the leaves on the trees begin to swirl around Mikoto, he vanishes leaving a single note and some string.

Wazuki, whose expression never changed, walks to retrieve the note then loots the bandits but reads the note while doing so.

The note says this.

"Though I did bring you to this place to begin your journey, you have to prove to me that you are ready. You are Hyakki so this should be with efficiency and speed. Within this forest there are beasts who will not hesitate to kill you if you make a wrong move. Your job is to assassinate them while following the string. If the string is lost, then find it as it will be your way out of this Forest."

Wazuki looks at the forest opening where the string leads and jumps into a tree following it.

"Understood Father."

While observing the forest, Wazuki notes that though it is night time, he can still perceive the area without lighting. As a member of the Hyakki family, he is able to see in dark areas slightly better than the normal human, however, he can clearly see trees, streams and various animals. Wazuki continues.

While following the string, Wazuki notices something. He sees a group of wolves looking for something. Wazuki pulls out a bow and an arrow, pointing it at the nearest wolf.

"Take out the nearest one with efficiency so I do not get surrounded later. Be aware of my surroundings before firing. Once the surrounding is secure and cover has been taken, line up the shot and take it."

He fires the bow from 120 ft from a height of 60 ft into the Wolf's head, killing it with one arrow, then resetting his placement.

The wolves, who hear something, begin to search for the cause of death.

Wazuki then takes an arrow and shoots it at another wolf in the leg then jumps to another tree.

While resetting, one of the wolves sees Wazuki and springs up climbing the tree after him.

Surprised that the wolf did this, Wazuki falls out of the tree.

While falling, he takes aim at the wolf with an arrow in the leg and shoots it again, killing it, before falling on all fours from into a pile of leaves.

The wolves, now on the same level as their predator, bare their fangs at Wazuki who switches his weapon to an iron longsword.

In a split second, a memory appears in Wazuki's head of a man throwing multiple weapons all across the battlefield and fighting an army, fighting them with each weapon simultaneously.

Afterwards, Wazuki sees the first wolf jump at it and dodges, countering with a slash to the side, injuring it. The second wolf bites at him but he dodges, looking at the first wolf and striking it again, killing it.

Seeing this the last wolf runs off and Wazuki tries to shoot an arrow at it but it dodges.

Following the string Wazuki stumbles upon the same wolf with a bigger wolf, seeming to be the alpha.

Wazuki now comes face to face with the giant wolf and both rush at each other, clashing sword and claw. After the initial confrontation, the wolf slashes at Wazuki with his claws, hitting him in the torso.

Wazuki makes distance between them and shoots an arrow at the wolf's leg hitting it then rushing in immediately after with a longsword slash, hitting it again.

The two trade blows, with Wazuki having the upper hand and ultimately winning the fight.

After tending to his injuries, Wazuki followed the string into an opening at the end of the forest.

As he came out, he saw Mikoto standing there overlooking the sunrise.

"A satisfactory effort, Wazuki."

"The wolf took a while to comply."

"You still took the whole night."

"My Apologies, Father."

Mikoto, with a stern look puts his hand on Wazuki's head

"What matters is that you completed the task and never added extra nuances to the initial plan. You should live as such. There will be distractions everywhere, that's just the world in itself but never lose sight of what has to be done."

"Yes sir."

"You start your journey in Naganohara. You have to get there within two weeks or you will be late for your journey. In this pouch will be some money for your daily needs but after a while, it will be up to you to find money for yourself. You are an assassin so remember your code. Kill with a meaning. Never let your emotions take precedence over the mission. Do that and I will be proud."

"Yes Father."

Mikoto vanishes without a trace along with the giant wolf who goes into his shadow before that.

Wazuki begins his journey soon after.
