"Time out. Let's take a break, shall we?" I say as I form a T with my hands. After appearing on the battlefield, three elder Mage's shot me with magic. Before the attacks could hit me, Nova teleported me a few meters away. "Let's all act our age, and stop fighting for a moment. We are all civilized people, aren't we? So take a moment and just listen."

"Grandson, you shouldn't be here." Granny says giving me a disapproving look.

"Well, I just wanted to speak with you all for a moment." I say. Every elder seems to be looking at me by now. "Since you've all stopped fighting, I recommend stopping this war now. Your side has already lost." I say looking at the enemy elders.

"Seeing as your fighting a losing battle let's come to an agreement, shall we? Your side will surrender and hand over the leaders of all Noble houses involved. That includes the soon to be former Queen and Prince Alexander. Their fate will be up to the king, but the rest of the families will be spared with no repercussions. The new heads of each Noble house are to then report to Vadena to swear allegiance to the Royal family. There will be no reparations paid immediately, but the tax of said noble family's will be increased by 20% for the next fifty years. This is a very good deal, and it won't be offered again, so go and slap some sense into your juniors." I say shooing them away.

"We don't listen to children, so why don't you run along and drink some of your peasant mothers milk." A haughty looking elder said venomously.

"Is that how you all feel?" I ask. Every enemy elder voiced their agreement. Some jeering at me and others merely nodding.

"*sigh* I see." 'Souei, kill the stuck-up one, but don't reveal yourself. Make them think it was Nova.'

Souei leaves my shadow, but I'm the only one that sees him. He moves forward towards the elder that disrespected me and drew a single ninjato sword cutting him in half from head to toe. The man's two halves fall In opposite directions, and blood sprays everywhere. Of course, I'm the only one that sees this. What everyone else saw was Nova disappear and reappear behind the disrespectful elder, and swiped her wing causing a line of flames to cut the man in half. Everyone was shocked that such a harmless looking bird could be so strong. Well, she's not, but they don't know that. All of these elders are in rank 80s and 90s, so killing one is extremely hard, yet a bird just dispatched one so easily.

"Would you all like to follow the example of a dead man, or can we call it a night? It's passed my bedtime, and I'm sure you all have a lot to talk about." I say, innocently.

"I think we should all listen to my grandson. Come Syrin, I'll tuck you into bed." Amelia says offering me her hand. She eyes me as if challenging me to disobey her. Seeing as she's agreeing with me, I move to her and take her hand. Our sides elders follow our lead and start to leave.

"Fine, let's go." The woman that was fighting grandmother said. The enemy elders seem stumped as to what they should do, so they just go follow her back to camp.

When our side makes it back to the fort, my grandmother was looking at me funny. Before she could say anything or question me, my mother shadowed over me. I could sense a disturbance in the force, and it just kept getting worse. The feeling of dread kept building until she cocked back her hand and whacked me on the head. After knocking me on the head, she broke down in tears and proceeded to choke me in a hug of death. I could only sigh and hope that she'll notice, and I'll be able to breathe soon. I could see my grandmother standing behind my mother laughing at my torment.

"Astrid, why don't you let the boy breath. He seems to be turning purple." I hear my father say as my consciousness drifts towards the afterlife. Suddenly, the pressure on my body releases and I can finally breathe. "Although, maybe you should hug him again. After all, he did break his promise of staying near us and out of the war."

"Yes, I agree. Tortu... *cough* I mean hug him some more. He's a growing boy that needs his mothers love after all." Amelia jeers. I'm laying on the floor taking in as much sweet oxygen as I can.

"*huff* Can we not *huff* do that please." I slowly take ragged breaths.

"What were you thinking? You could've been killed out there! I've told you over and over, never get involved in battles between elders. You shouldn't be getting involved at all, but especially not with elders!" Ohh god, mom is going off on a rant. The rant continues for what seemed like forever until my father cut her off.

"Honey, it's getting late. Why don't we take this inside." He suggests.

Finally, we make our way inside the fort. I've already apologized a million times, but she still hasn't stopped lecturing me. It's nice to have people who care about you, but it's also tiring to deal with them sometimes. My lecture continued throughout dinner and ended when we had to go to a meeting in the war room. Mother didn't want me going to the war meetings anymore, however, father seems to still have my back, and said that I've been a major help. She was reluctant, but I managed to get into the meeting.

"Your Highness, would you like to explain what you offered the other side?" General Buckmond asked.

"Sure, I told them that they have to hand over the leaders of each Noble family, the former Queen, and Prince Alexander. Their punishments will be chosen by my father. Then their replacements are to come to Vadena, to swear loyalty to the crown. Lastly, the tax of each rebel house will increase by 20% for the next fifty years." I explain.

"Is that wise, Your Highness? We could have easily gotten a lot of compensation." A younger Noble asked. He looked annoyed that I didn't ask for more, but was trying his hardest to be respectful.

"If it was an enemy country that we wanted to weaken, then I would pick their pockets clean, but this is our country. At the moment we are a snake that's eating its own tail. If we take to much, we're weakening our own country, and the longer we fight the weaker our kingdom becomes. This offer is in the best interest of both sides." I explain. The young noble looked shocked at our predicament. The more aged nobles nodded their heads in approval.

"Very smart, son. I'm proud of you, but could you run these ideas through me first. I understand that you're a genius, however your still a child. I worry that you'll come up with a plan, and it will get you killed one day. I know your mother has ranted at you enough, but what you did today was very dangerous." He says. The seriousness dripping from his voice.

"Yeah, sorry about that dad. I just thought of how rare a resource the elders are, so if we lose to many that could negatively impact our nation's power. Malum may have lost a good portion of their army, but they lost none of their elders." I explained.

"I agree, but please bring these ideas to me, so I can either secure your safety, or have someone else do it. You also called them rare resources, yet you killed one of them." He says with a wry smile on his face.

"He was being disrespectful, and I had to get my point across." I said nonchalantly shrugging it off.

"Haha, you definitely got your point across. That man Nova killed was a piece of filth anyway." Grandmother laughed. I guess they didn't have a good relationship. A few nobles in the room nodded in agreement with her.

"Well, I didn't know Nova was so strong, but it's good that you have that added protection." Mother added.

"Since we are waiting for a reply from the rebels, we'll conclude this meeting. Have the soldiers stay alert, as the enemy could still choose to attack." Father says ending the meeting.
