Magic Wands

Magical wands and staffs serve as a way to amplify magic.

Using a wand, the mana cost is lower, but the mana control is more limited because controlling it with your hands gives you much more freedom to create a spell at your will.

With a wand, the magic is limited to the tip of it, unless you use Controlled Magic, then it would be an advantage to use a wand.

Entering the establishment, at first glance, the store is quite narrow, with a high ceiling and a gigantic wooden bookcase that goes up to the ceiling on my left.

The bookcase contains several magical artifacts. Rings, daggers, glass jars with insects, and orbs of different colors.

To my left is a wide L-shaped counter that stretches to the end of the store and turns to the left. Behind this counter, there is another huge shelf with different objects.

At the end of the store, an old dwarf man is sitting reading books.

He has a long white beard that is very striking.

He has a convex and pointed nose.

His hair is white, but there is little of it since he is bald.

The glasses on his face are round and appear to have a high prescription.

"Oh, my first customers of the day! How can I help you?" He says in a thin and husky voice, typical of an old man.

"Hello, sir. I wanted to buy two wands for these boys here." Hera says with a smile as we approach.

The gentleman looks at us for a moment.

"At that age will they already have a wand?" He asks as he gets up from the bench.

"Yes..." My mom says with a forced smile.

"I have different types of wands here. I already told you beforehand, all wands are practically the same, the only difference between them is their beauty and resistence." He says as he takes a ladder at the end of the store.

"We want the cheapest one available, if possible." Hera says.

Living in a village where everyone supports themselves with their own work does not give you great economic opportunities.

"I understood." The man places the ladder against the bookshelf and begins to climb.

He wears a brown leather vest with a white shirt underneath. He wears brown pants with a black belt fastening them.

On his feet, he wears black leather boots.

After he goes upstairs, he takes out a small box.

He comes down the stairs, takes his stool, climbs on it, and places the box on the counter.

Upon opening the box, several wands are inside.

The wands are made of a dark wood.

There are several wooden branches that intertwine with each other, forming a wand-like appearance.

"These ones are costing one gold coin." The owner says.

"Could be those!" Hera says.

After paying, we left the store with the wand in hand.

"I know these aren't the wands you wanted, but I swear it was a gift from the heart." Hera says with a little sadness. "When your father and I save more money, we will buy the wand you choose!" She complements trying to cheer up.

William doesn't seem to know much about wands, so I don't think he cares, but I had already read about the subject.

Clearly our family can't afford to buy expensive things.

I would say that we can't even buy things that are cheap.

"Relax, mom. When I grow up, I'll be able to buy everything you ask for!" I say, trying to cheer her up a bit.

It's not a matter of being poor, it's a matter of not needing to buy anything.

In the village, we have everything we need. Clothes, food, and light, so things that can be bought with money are secondary.

My mom looks at me with a contented look.

"Mom, are we poor?" Bad time for William to ask, huh?

Hera looks at William with a confused face, I think she doesn't know what to say.

"Not exactly. I'd say we don't need the money."

William looks on with a perplexed look.

Returning home, I look more closely at the wand my mother gave me.
