Second chance: Hypnosis

I was 31, laying in a pool of my blood. As my eyes closed and I slowly lost consciousness, I thought about all the wonderful things in life I would miss. My family, friends, pets. Everything I loved would be taken away from me when I died. With that thought, I died. However, God, the universe, or whatever it was, brought me back to life. I was in the past! This time I will accomplish everything I couldn't in my previous run. With the power of hypnosis and a second chance, I will etch my name into the history books! But is it that simple? How will this power change who I was?

As soon as I opened my eyes, the sunlight shining through the curtains hit me, blinding me. Moving my hands up to my eyes, I rubbed them until I felt like I was half awake.

Then, I got up, and after a quick yawn; I left for the washroom. I couldn't hold my piss in any longer.

Turning on the tap, I washed my hands and then my face before brushing my teeth. After a quick sigh, I turned the tap off and went to change. Today would be hectic. 'Why does he have to always get in trouble?'

Even before regressing, I remember how often my little brother got in trouble. From fights to coming home drunk and high, etc.

After putting on my favorite fit, black pants, a black shirt, and a dark blue zip-up, I went to the living room, waiting for my brother to wake up.

With my laptop in hand, I dropped onto the couch and scrolled through the dark web.

There wasn't anything new in the awakened section. Only a few posts regarding some questions on whether it was really real or if it was just expertly edited.

I could still vividly remember that video. The man broke everyone's necks with a thought. 'Would I be able to stop that?'

That question had been running through my head since I saw that.

Hypnosis. A power that could control the mind. I had no doubt that if I could put him under it, I would be able to make him my slave. However, if he was blood lusted, could I even react? Telekinesis was, from all the movies and comics, a common power. It was most of the time overlooked.

Other powers in media like fire, water, etc. overshadowed less flashy abilities. However, telekinesis was terrifying. You can't dodge it, see it, smell it, or hear it.

Just imagining fighting against them sent shivers down my spine. Leaving those thoughts behind, I continued my search.

After a good ten minutes of searching through the web, I found an interesting post.

[Masquerade Party. PM for invite and prices.]

'If I could put those at the party under my hypnosis, I could potentially find out more about awakened, and even have some wealthy people under my belt.'

I immediately messaged them.

Now I only had to wait until they responded.

Not long after, I heard my brothers' foot steps. He looked a little nervous, but could I blame him? We were about to encounter kids who brought weapons to a fight. Anyone could potentially get hurt. Badly.

We left the house and made our way toward the park by my old school and his middle school. It didn't take too long. Only a bus ride and a 5-minute walk.

"Bro, are you sure? I don't want you to get hurt."

"Trust me. You think I would've come here if I could've got hurt?"

"Ok."

In the distance, I saw and recognized a few of my brother's friends and in front of them an army of middle schoolers and even someone who looked older than me.

We soon arrived in the middle of them.

"Is there no way you can just leave this behind?"

"Fuck that. Those fucking guys scammed me. You think imma just let that slide?" One of the kids, wearing a black baseball cap, said angrily.

I looked over at the older kid. "Comeon, bro, don't you think this is too much? They're literally only in middle school. How much could he have really taken?"

"He took fucking $1200 from me." A kid in front of the older kid said. He wore a compression shirt with a zip-up over it. Black hair and looked middle eastern.

$1200 was a lot of money. At least for kids their age.

I sighed out loud and looked at the group. I stepped back and activated my power. My eyes shined in a purple hue and I spoke. "Come on guys. Let's just leave this behind. You know if we fought you can get arrested right?"

The group's eyes shined, and at least half of them got put into hypnosis. The group under it kissed their teeth and turned around.

The other half was shocked and confused. Why would they leave?

I turned to the others and said the same to them. "You guys leave too, you don't wanna get arrested, do you?"

After only my brother's friends and I were left, I sighed and asked which one scammed them.

"Who scammed the kid?"

The tall chubby one looked my way with his head down. "Joshy. Why the fuck would you scam someone and get caught? Are you a fucking idiot? Pay the fucking kid back. I'm not gonna get caught up in your shit again. And I don't want my brother getting in trouble and potentially getting stabbed, because you can't scam properly."

The kid nodded, but I wanted to make sure he gave the money back. I looked into his eyes and commanded him to give it back with my power.

I looked at the others and scolded them as well.

After my quick little scolding session, I left. My brother wanted to hang out with his friends a little longer, and seeing I wasn't needed anymore, I left.

Since I didn't eat anything in the morning, I was getting a little hungry. So, instead of going home, I took a detour.

I soon arrived at the famous Ronald McDonald. Ordering their best breakfast burger, I sat down. Unwrapping it, I took a bite and watched as all my pent-up stress and exhaustion flew away.

The doorbell chimed and a familiar face walked through.

'The weirdo taking the survey from last time.'

We made eye contact, and I nodded toward at her. She nodded back and went to order her food. Taking out my phone, I scrolled through social media, entertaining myself.

The familiar girl walked up to my table and set her food down. "What's up, Damian?"

I looked up and greeted her back. "How's it going...-"

"Annabelle. can't believe you forgot it already," she said with a deadpan expression.
