8 The new world, new life (V)

What is this sensation? she thought to herself. Am I not dead?

She tried to move her finger, however, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't feel anything. Her surrounding was engulfed in darkness. There was no light, not even a speck. I see, so this is what it's like to be dead. She inwardly laughed. Hmm, she mumbled as she heard a distant noise. What is it? she tried hard to listen. After exhausting herself, she finally caught two words 'Fu Yixiao'. Who's that? We have the same surname, so, is it someone from the clan? She let her thought wondered, however, it was a strenuous task that if she continued, she might lose all her consciousness.

As time passed, her consciousness started to wear off. She was afraid. She tried to recall all her memories to stay awake. Her death, her unpaid revenge, and her loss. Suddenly, a protruding pain stabbed her mind. That had awakened her, making her fully conscious of her surrounding. She was battling with the intense pain in her mind when she heard a subtle voice, speaking "From now on, I leave matters in your hand. Thank you, Fu ya." And the voice faded, leaving her dumbfounded.

Fu Ya was contemplating over what she just listened. However, the distant noise that she heard earlier became louder. She felt her awareness became sharp. She can feel her arms, her legs, and her beating heart. I am not dead! She yelled in her mind. She was stunned but her sixth sense pulled her back to reality when she felt her life was in danger.

She opened her eyes and saw a triangular metal pointed toward her neck. She reacted by moving her body slightly which was enough to avoid the danger. She woke up, snapped the attacker's hand; snatching the weapon. She moved her body behind the attacker and realized that the attacker was a woman. She cursed and gripped the woman's neck while her other hand was holding the weapon pointing it toward her neck. She asked.

"Who are you?"

Her cold voice echoed throughout the room.

"Answer me or else, I'll kill you." She threatened.

"Fu Yixiao," at this moment, someone spoke and she shifted her gazed to the person talking. Her mouth twitched as she realized, they were many people in the room. Where the hell am I? Her perfectly shaped eyebrows met, kissing each other. She looked around, it was a type of room she never saw before.

There was a box beside the bed with a green line going up and down and as it moved, the beep sound followed. What is this thing? she blinked and blinked again. Still, after each blink, nothing had changed. The people in the room were more fixated on her. The woman in her hand was also looking at her bewildered. Oh, she almost forgot that she was threatening a woman. She ignored the rising curiosity in her mind as she shifted her looked toward her.

"So, who are you?" she asked, again.

Lu Yiantao who was caught and being threatened by her own daughter was completely dumbfounded. Her flabbergasted expression was noticed by the girl as she let out a chuckle. The girl was thinking that this was the first time she saw a person with one foot in the grave showing no fear. She amusedly said "You are a brave person so I'll let you go. Never ever show yourself in front of me again or I'll kill you without mercy." And she pushed her out of the bed.

She put the weapon on a table next to her bed. Then, both of her legs stepped on the floor as she pushed the edge of the bed to give herself the support to stand upright. Then, she realized, she had to look up to meet the gazes of all the people in front of her. Since when did I become short? She wondered when suddenly, another sharp pain furiously attacking the inside of her head. She collapsed to the floor.

"Fu Yixiao!" Two men and a woman rushed to her side. Fu Ya closed her eyes when a flood of memories overpowered her. Her brained buzzed.

She fainted.

Gui Jin saw the girl fainted and reflexively held her. He lifted her up and put her on the bed. Then, he moved to the side giving Doctor Chen the space to examine her.

Lu Ting shifted his gaze at the girl to Doctor Chen and vice versa. His fidgety fingers were sweating.

As the three people focused on the girl laying on the bed, they didn't notice when three people had slipped out of the room.

Lu Yiantao hurriedly left the room and fastened her steps. She took out her phone and dialed a number. A male voice echoed in her eardrum.

"Darling, is it settled?" The man asked.

"Honey, something unexpected happened. I failed." She replied.

"What happened?"

"She woke up! I'll explain to you when I reach home." She ended the call and entered the backseat of her car. She urged her driver to drive faster.

Doctor Chen had completed his checked up and affirmed that nothing was alarming. Fu Yixiao would regain her consciousness sooner or later. It just a matter of time. He also confirmed that she had fully recovered except her body was lacking nourishment. Therefore, she advised them to prepare nourishing food for her for at least a month. Lu Ting and Yun Xi nodded. Gui Jin smiled as he caressed the girl's hair. He was mesmerized by the girl's earliest behavior. That was the most beautiful execution of martial art he had ever seen.

"Mr. Lu!"

"What is it?" Lu Ting bent sideways as he listened to Ah Meng's report.

His expression changed and his eyes scanned the room. Lu Yiantao was missing. "She ran away," he said, pointing his finger to the spot where Lu Yiantao was standing earlier.

"Should I dispatched my men to look for her." Gui Jin asked.

"No need. She will not dare anymore." Gui Jin nodded. He didn't care whether the woman had run away or not for sooner or later, he'd come knocking on their door. His lips curled upward.

"Gui Jin, please look after Xiao er. I have something to discuss with Yun Xi." Lu Ting patted Gui Jin's back as he waited for his response. Gui Jin nodded assuringly. He also knew what they were going to discuss, therefore, he didn't want to meddle. He sat quietly next to the bed waiting for the girl to wake up.

The girl who was peacefully laying on the hospital bed slowly opened her eyes. She stared blankly at the ceiling. A confused look was evident in her eyes. She was shocked when a hand was lightly patting her lips with a handkerchief. It was soft and warm.

She looked at the man blankly, "What are you doing?" she asked. "Why are you hurting yourself?" Gui Jin rebuked with another question as he lifted the handkerchief showing a red spot. The girl harrumphed, however, her fingers touched her lips and she growled. It hurt. Gui Jin shook his head as he wetted the handkerchief with a drop of water and continued cleaning the blood on her lips. Earlier when he saw the girl bitted her lips, he became worried. He immediately reacted when he saw her lips started to bleed.

Gui Jin watched the girl's eyes closed. He thought that she was asleep when her eyes abruptly opened.

"Who am I?" she asked. "You're Fu Yixiao." He answered.

"Fu Yixiao. So these memories are hers." She whispered.

"What did you say?" He asked.

"Let it be. Who are you? What's your name?" Gui Jin laughed. This girl is entertaining. He thought.

"Why are you laughing?" The girl asked, again.

"You're funny." He answered.

"I'm not."

"Yes, you are."

"Is it funny to ask a person's name?" She bellowed.

Gui Jin burst out in laughter and immediately stopped when he saw the girl's irritated look.

"I'm Gui Jin. Your fiancee." He said.
