Let's just act like nothing happened

The knock at the door shattered the charged silence in the room, pulling me out of my tangled thoughts. My heart was still racing, my body still humming from everything that had just transpired.

I watched as Zaya adjusted the towel around her body, her movements brisk and efficient but clearly trying to keep her composure.

The confidence she had exuded earlier now seemed somewhat subdued, her jaw tightening as she glanced at me before stepping toward the door.

"Stay there," she murmured, her voice a mix of command and reassurance.

I froze, very aware of my current state completely naked, my skin still flushed and warm. The last thing I wanted was for someone to walk in and find me like this.

Zaya turned the lock and opened the door just enough to peek through, angling her body so whoever was outside couldn't see inside the room.
