"Think about it, if we summon all of our C rank monsters, we could easily kill any monster Reizo throws at us."
Saliza was trying to come up with a way to make this week's training easier while we were walking to Feilo Forest.
"But Reizo might restrict us from summoning monsters if we overuse it." Serith said.
"I don't think Reizo would stop us from summoning monsters since trying to overpower the monsters Reizo is making us fight this week isn't going to work."
"What do you mean? How can monsters beat us if we're stronger than them?" Saliza asked
"Think about it, we're stronger than the terrachus that we fought yesterday but yet dealing with them wasn't an easy task."
We reached Feilo Forest and Reizo begun our training before disappearing.
"Zeigel is right. We can't underestimate monsters that we need to fight this week."
Serith said as he looked around for monsters.
"Fine, I'll...what's that in the sky?" Saliza stared at six flying figures hovering above us. They're not big and they looked like some sort of small dinosaur. I remember reading about these monsters.
One of the flying monsters spit a green substance at Saliza. "Watch out!" I yelled as I pushed Saliza away from the substance. It was acid and it melted the ground Saliza was standing on.
"Those monsters are called dimorphorids. They're C rank monsters that fly above their prey and spit acid at them."
Serith summoned a radive and climbed onto it. "I'll deal with those flying freaks."
He tried catching the dimorphorids using his radive's talons, but they were fast.
All of them easily avoided his attacks and they messed with him by staying just out of his reach no matter how fast he flew. One of them flew behind Serith and spit acid at the radive's wing, causing Serith to fall out of the sky.
Saliza summoned her radive and went to catch Serith before he hit the ground.
I tried to recall information on the dimorphorid so I could figure out what their weakness is, but I suddenly heard footsteps around me. There was no one in sight but the footsteps kept getting louder. It's obvious that there are gendions around here.
Judging from where the footsteps are coming from, I can tell that I'm surrounded. I don't have enough time to summon a monster or use a spell.
I started screaming at the top of my lungs while hugging my stomach and rolling on the floor to act like there's something wrong with me. The gendions are smart so they wouldn't want to attack me until they figured out what's going on with me. For all they know, I could explode if they tried attacking me.
Using a spell, I created an aura around me that looked like fire. I slowly spread the aura around me to get the gendions to move away from me. Then I summoned a radive and hopped on it. The gendions couldn't reach me in time and I flew off.
Saliza and Serith were still being chased by the dimorphorids who have been using their acidic spit to keep the two of them away from the ground.
Serith saw me flying after them and told Saliza to attack the dimorphorids. She turned her radive around and charged at the dimorphorids.
The dimorphorids dodged her attack, but they didn't know that I was behind them. I caught one of the dimorphorids using my radive's beak and snapped its neck in half.
Serith began firing multiple ice shards at the dimorphorids with his spell to keep the dimorphorids away from me. I caught up with the two and told them about the gendions.
"How should we deal with the gendions? It's hard to figure out where they're coming from since there's more than one of them." Serith asked.
Saliza used a spell and covered the area below us with black dust. We could now see the gendions below chasing after us.
"That's one way to do it." I said.
The dimorphorids were catching up and they were spitting acid at us again. I looked through the monsters that I could summon and thought of a plan.
I flew close to Saliza and Serith and told them what my plan was about. We changed our summoning slots and summoned three terrachus that dropped onto the ground and dug underground.
Serith hopped onto my radive and we descended from the skies. Saliza used a spell to fire a volley of flames at the dimorphorids to get their attention and prevent them from attacking me and Serith.
I flew close to the ground and kept a distance from the gendions to make sure they couldn't get me with their paralyzing tails while making sure that they stayed in the area where our terrachus were digging.
after a few seconds, the ground beneath the gendions crumbled and the gendions tried to get to higher ground. I flew around and whacked those that tried to escape with my sword.
The gendions fell into the pit that our terrachus made and plummeted to their deaths. Saliza saw the pit and both of us flew down into it.
When we reached the bottom, I made my terrachus dig a path away from this pit and Serith used a spell to boost my radive's speed.
The dimorphorids hovered above the pit and barraged us with acidic spit. Saliza summoned the remaining monsters in her summoning slot to shield us from the acid.
I summoned an alpha burark and made it climb onto the back of my radive and it used the path that my terrachus made and flew out of the pit.
The dimorphorids didn't know about my radive and kept spitting acid at us. My radive flew behind the unsuspecting dimorphorids and my alpha burark torched their wings using its fiery breath.
All of the dimorphorids fell into the pit and died. We then scanned their charred remains.
*Scan completed, C rank monster added.*
Once we finished scanning, my radive flew down into the pit and carried us back up. We landed and waited for Reizo to dismiss us.
Suddenly we heard something coming from a nearby tree. Something was hiding in the leaves and making weird murmuring sounds.
"Who that?" A drunk Reizo and several bottles of alchohol fell out of the tree. "Oh it's just you three. Are you done?"
We stared at Reizo who somehow looked like he was conscious and unconscious at the same time.
"We killed six dimorphorids and five gendions, that's all of the monsters right?" Serith asked.
"Yes you can go now." Reizo noticed the pit that we made and dragged his body over while we watched. He pointed his palm at the pit as if he was going to use a spell, but instead he just collapsed and fell into the pit.
"Should we go help him?" Serith was concerned and wondered if Reizo was fine. We went over to the pit and found Reizo sleeping on top of the burnt dimorphorid corpses.
"I'm sure he's fine." I said as I walked back to the headquarters.
While we were resting in our room, I asked myself why fighting monsters was harder this week compared to last week. All of the monsters we fought were C rank monsters so why is this week harder.
I took out my monster encyclopedia and decided to compare the monsters that we fought this week and the last few days of last week.
Last week we fought a rhino-like monster called ramor, a large venomous serpent monster called vartra and a monster that would curl up into a spiky ball and charge at us called bolorash. We fought three of them during our training but dealt with them easily by overpowering them with Saliza's summoned monsters.
If we tried overpowering the monsters that we fought this week it wouldn't work. The three of us have higher stats now and we could summon a total of nine C rank monsters so why doesn't the same trick work this week.
After comparing the monsters several times, I realized that the monsters we fought last week had the same way of attacking. They would simply try to charge at their opponents and overpower them, which wouldn't work on us.
The monsters this week however rely on their abilities and won't constantly try to attack us head on. They would instead form a strategy like trapping us in pits or using acidic spit to keep us in the air.
So all I need to do in order to beat them is to figure out how they fight and how to counter it.
