Chapter two

Cassie walked down a lonely path on her way home from school. She loved taking this path, you could only see two or three people tops when taking this path and to her, it was the best.

A sound made her to stop, she heard a whimpering sound. She turned to the direction of the sound and wanted to take a step but she hesitated.

"It's none of my business, I should probably ignore it" She thought to herself but she couldn't, a persisting thought prevented her from leaving.

"What if the person is in danger?". She finally decided to move towards the direction of the sound until she met a girl, Sandra Dickens. She was her seatmate during biology class this morning. She had bruises on her left cheek like she was slapped hardly multiple times, her shirt was also torn.

"What happened to you?" Cassie asked leaning towards her to dry her tears.

"They... They took pictures... Of me... They took pictures of me" She said as tears began to form in her eyes.

"Who?!" Cassie asked feeling a little bit angry. Sandra didn't say anything, she only pointed to her right. Cassie looked towards the direction of her finger, she could hear the sound of boys laughing.

"Wait here, I'll be right back" Cassie said to Sandra, giving her her school bag to hold for her. Sandra held Cassie's leg as she was about to take a step.

"Don't go, they might do terrible things to you too".

Cassie smiled and reassured her. "Don't worry about me, I'll be fine". Sandra let go of her and she ventured into the dark bushes.

"Can't wait to post this pictures of Sandra on our class group chat" Lincoln, one of boys said excitedly.

"What if you get reported?" Simon asked, he looked really nervous.

"I can open an anonymous Facebook account and post it there" Fred, their leader said confidently like there was nothing wrong with what they were about to do.

"Shhhh!" Simon said making the others to come to a stop.

"What?" Lincoln asked.

"Did you guys hear something?" Simon asked them turning his back. He was hearing something, a light growl but he couldn't see anything. The path was filled with thick bushes and trees.

"No" Lincoln replied, looking around.

Fred gave Simon a hit on his back making him to face forward.

"Hey Simon, I know you're new but we... I don't like games" Fred said, his voice slightly raised.

"But I'm not..." A twig snapped which made Simon to cut him statement short. Fred who was tired of seeing Simon look around like a lost puppy pushed him aside and walked towards the direction of the snapped twig. He saw the snapped twig but he didn't see anyone which made him to venture further.

"Sandra is that you? Don't worry, I promise not to tag your parents" He said and burst into laughter. "If you have something to say you can come out and I'll probably think of a negotiation". He waited for two minutes and received no response. He sighed and turned to leave but he felt hot air on his neck. He turned slowly to see who or what was breathing heavily on his neck and immediately fell to the floor when he saw what it was. He couldn't find a name for what he was seeing. Its eyes were blood shot red, it was huge and hairy. Its mouth wasn't fully closed so he could see two incredibly long fangs and the rest of its teeth were all sharp pointed.

"Help! Help!!" He screamed, getting up from the ground and started running as fast as he could.

"Did you hear something?" Lincoln asked Simon.

"I think I heard Fred's voice" Simon replied.

"Let's find out what's going on" Lincoln said but Simon hesitated.

"What're you doing? Let's go".

"Sorry, I can't" Simon said bending his head.

"What do you mean you can't?! Fred might be in danger!"

"All the more reason why we shouldn't go".

Lincoln seeing that Simon had already made up his mind said "Fine! Stay here all you want loser!". He was about to leave when he saw something rolling towards him. He looked closely, it was a head! It was Fred's head!

"We have to get out of here! Now!".

Simon was about to leave but he saw a weird creature behind Lincoln. He was too stunned to speak or move.

"What the F are you doing?! Get the F outta here!".

"Behind you" Simon whispered.

"What?!".

"There's something behind you". Before Lincoln could turn his back, the creature ripped him in half. Simon who knew that running would be of no use fell on his knees and started begging profusely.

"Please spare me! I don't know any of them, please let me go!".

Cassie who knew she'd turn to herself any minute looked around for the phone. She saw it behind Simon. She picked him up, holding him by the neck and then threw him hard into a near by tree causing him to break his spine and groan in pain. She stepped on the phone, breaking it to pieces beyond repair.

"No!" Simon screamed as he saw the creature stepping on the phone. Cassie picked up a pointed branch and used it to impale him. She fell to the floor and watched herself slowly turn back to her human form. She stood up and went back to meet Sandra. Sandra stood up immediately she saw Cassie, she (Cassie) looked terrifying to her. Cassie stretched her hand that was dripping blood towards Sandra but Sandra who looked more scared than grateful ran away. Cassie scoffed and picked up her bag. What was she expecting? She started walking acting like her face and clothes weren't stained with blood. She came across a black car that was blocking her path. It was like it was waiting for someone. A man stepped out of the driver's seat and opened the back door. An old woman stepped out, she looked rather too elegant for her age. She had a veil covering the left side of her face.

"Cassandra Olsen, we finally meet again, after a long time".

"I'm sorry, who are you?" Cassie asked looking more confused than ever.

"I'm an acquaintance of your mother"

"Well, I'm not my mother. She's...".

"Dead? I know you killed her and your dad when you turned into your true self for the first time" The woman said leaving Cassie in utter shock.

"How did you know that?!".

"I know everything about you, Cassandra Olsen".

"I don't know who you are and I don't care. All I need you to do is to move your car out of the way so that I can go home".

"Home? You call that murder scene you created 'home?'. You murdered everyone that came to take you out of there. What can I say? You're a monster after all" The old lady said heartlessly. Cassie started to get angry. "Who does this woman think she is?" She thought. She was about to say something when she saw a corspe lying two metres away from the car.

"What... Who's that?" Cassie asked.

"Oh, that's your friend lying there. I think Sandra was her name? Well she saw something she wasn't supposed to see so she had to be terminated. You have faithful Marc to thank for that" She said patting the man beside her.

"You're crazy! The both of you! I saved someone only for you to kill her?!".

"Save? You're pretty delusional for a monster. How dare you blame my sense of responsibility instead of your reckless actions. You're a 'black blood'. Black bloods should never have anything to do with a red blood! That's why I'm here to take you to where you belong. A place where your kind, our kind live freely".

"Not interested" Cassie replied immediately the woman finished her sentence.

"I don't remember saying it was your choice to make".

"You can't take me anywhere!" Cassie said, her eyes turning red.

"Pfft, you don't scare me child. Marc?" She called. Marc nodded and immediately shot Cassie a little arrow.

"What did you just do to me?!".

"Just something to make you be in a state of... Tranquility?" She said and chuckled. Cassie wanted to take a step but she fell to the ground, her eyes slowly closing till all she could see was black.
