"Time to wake up. What's your name?"

A male voice asked, the voice was deep, sultry and warm, like melted chocolate, soothing even.

"As if it matters," he added under his breath.

"Wh-what?" Jungkook managed to stammer, trying to claw his way into full consciousness.

"Open your eyes," the voice ordered, "Open," he repeated.

Jungkook tried to open his eyes hard, his lids felt like lead but it he finally managed and he tilted his head and furrowed his brows, disoriented, as his surroundings came into slow focus, heart hammering as he was remembering.

Previous events flashed in his memory, it was a late night and he was putting out a bag of trash at the end of his shift when a hand had covered his mouth.

He was dragged, kicking and screaming, by someone with inhuman strength until his hands and legs were tied tight then suddenly everything had gone black.

He tried to take everything in, knowing instinctively that he needed to gauge his surroundings and think fast. Now, his ankles and wrists were no longer bound.

Fingertips played with the fringe of his lace underwear, Jungkook struggled to sit up, eyes suddenly wide with alarm. He tried to assess his surroundings, deciding it was imperative to do this before analyzing the face of his captor.

As he tried to assess both the man and his surroundings, the haze lifted and everything zoomed into consciousness.

'Location? Hotel room or bedroom?'

The room was big and almost dark except for a dim floor lamp a few feet away. Thick, heavy drapes hung over what looked like a wall of windows straight ahead.

'Is it still nighttime?'

"Stop," the deep voice commanded, "Look at me."

Jungkook's wide doe eyes met the face of a man at his feet, he was holding his ankle with his left hand while his right hand was on his inner thigh.

He finds himself on top of a big, ornate four-poster bed with a pile of dark-coloured throw pillows in various shapes, like a decorating store showroom bed.

Jungkook's skirt was hiked up around his waist, before another thought occurred, his modesty kicked in and he tried to pull his skirt down.

Before he could, the mysterious man let go of his thigh and shackled his wrist with a grip, lifting his chin and suddenly his eyes were trapped, stuck, he was stunned like a deer in the headlights.

Jungkook had a pretty good amount of street smarts, he was watchful, especially in that dark alleys. Being nabbed like this is something he'd have ever expected to happen and certainly not something he'd ever suspect would bring him to a specimen like the one in front of him.

The mysterious man's eyes that held Jungkook in place had piercing, icy-blue eyes he'd ever seen, he was tall, dark-haired, dangerous-looking, his bangs flopped over his forehead just a little, his hair slightly long, almost touching his collar bone with a slight finger-combed wave to it, he looked like he was probably in his mid to late '20s.

If the man weren't right in front of him, he'd say he weren't even real.

'Holy fvck! Is this his captor?'

Even though the room was dim it was as if the man's eyes were faintly lit, like a cat's reflective eyes and they were boring into him. He had a fleeting thought about seeing those eyes in his dreams, like he's experiencing a dejavu but he pushed the odd thought away and focused on the arctic blue eyes in front of him.

The man looked like a model, he has a lean body, honey sun-tanned skin, sharp jawline, a high nose with a mole on its tip, elongated eyes, long eyelashes and those eyes… they're so vivid in a room so dim? And what was he doing here with him?

Jungkook found his voice, "Who are you? Why am I here?"

"Relax and don't scream, you're not in danger. There's no need to be afraid, tell me your name."

Jungkook stared at the man's heart-shaped lips as he spoke slowly and softly, "You're okay. Just breathe. Mm, chocolate. Tempting. And you smell so good." He leaned closer and appeared to be peering into his eyes the way someone would look out a window. His eyes grew wider and got even more intense. His tongue moistened his full bottom lip and then his teeth scraped the lip before he asked, "What's your name?"

"What?" he breathed. He might've momentarily forgotten it.

"Tell me your name," he urged softly.

He inhaled and his breath caught. His heart thudded hard against his chest wall. He was sure it must be audible to him, too; it was that loud. He couldn't seem to exhale. He felt a surge of what must have been adrenaline and the adrenaline decided then, as he got a chance to exhale, that he should beeline for a door that was straight ahead. He tried to lunge toward it but he still had an ankle in his grasp.

"Whoa," he said and in an instant, they both toppled and he was on the carpet with him sitting on him. He pinned his wrists above his head.

"What do we have here?" he chuckled, then he turned serious and leaned toward him, "This is a surprise. I heard you were feisty. You're like a lit firecracker. Tell me your name, little cherry bomb." He was an inch from his face and he locked eyes with his.

He blazed a dirty look at him, "Fuck you. Who are you? What do you want?" He tried to get his arms free but he was strong. He didn't look like he was fighting too hard to hold him down but he couldn't move.

Something changed and he wasn't looking through a window any longer. It was like their eyes were at a standoff. His brows raised and he tilted his head slightly, gaze still fixed on his eyes. He moistened his lips again and leaned back and his expression changed to puzzled. After a beat, he blinked twice, leaned toward the crook of his neck and inhaled deeply.

"What the—?" he shuddered and pulled his shoulder toward his ear, "Get off!"

He leaned back, eyed him up and down, shook his head, looking confused, "Something's not right." He released his wrists. He tried to scramble away but he was still sitting on top of him.

"What? Not used to hearing no? Damn straight something's not right. Let me go!" He couldn't help notice that he smelled like hot baked cookies. His stomach rumbled in response. He thrust the heels of his hands forward against his chest to push him off balance. It was like his hands had hit a steel wall. They stung. And he hadn't budged. Jungkook winced in pain. He looked surprised.

He grabbed his forearms and got to his feet, pulling his up with him, "What are you on? Tell me." He had a befuddled look on his face.

He let out a cry and tried to struggle some more. It was as if his eyes were trying to bore a hole into him. He gave a little push and he was back on the bed. He tried to scramble to his feet but he pushed his back down. "Don't move," he ordered; his face was almost sinister. He froze, suddenly gripped by fear.

"Don't move," he repeated and pointed at him. He picked up a cell phone from the nightstand and backed up so that he was about ten feet away, leaning against a door. His eyes scanned the room as he swiped the screen a few times. He thrust his free hand through his hair. He was about to jump up but then he pointed again as if his pointed finger would be enough to keep his still.

"Where did you find him?" he spat into the phone. After a beat, he added, "Still completely lucid. No drugs. Nope. Something is off here."

"I think it's pretty obvious, you've got the wrong person," he spoke up, "If you'd just stand aside so I can leave we can forget all about this." Jungkook got to his feet.

"Sit," he told him with a hard stare, pointing at the bed and kept talking into the phone, "I don't smell any sign of that. Come up. Did he have a bag? Yeah, bring it."

He spotted a glass alcohol decanter that was within arm's reach on a long dresser. He lunged for it and hurled it at him. He stepped aside, dodging it before it shattered against the door he'd been leaning against. His eyes widened. He ran for the now unblocked door but he reached out and caught him by his long ponytail and he ricocheted back against his frame. He was considerably taller than him.

His mouth was beside his ear, "Freeze," he said. He still had his hair in his hand. The air left his lungs briefly and he did freeze, absorbing his hot breath for a beat. Then, when he loosened the grip, he started to frantically punch him, scratch him, kick, do whatever he could to fight. He knew that the #1 rule if abducted, was that you do whatever you have to do to get away.

Well, if you wanted to be technical about it the number one rule was to not let your assailant get you to the second location but since it was too late for that he had to fight to try to get out of here — and now.

His efforts, despite the flailing and grunting, weren't getting his anywhere. He didn't flinch at any of his hits or kicks and then he pulled his hair tighter and caught one of his wrists.

"Stop; calm down," he stared into his eyes in that weird way again.

What was with the crazy eye thing?

Jungkook grunted in frustration and continued to try to batter him, to make him let go, but as he clawed and hit and kicked all he was accomplishing was tiring himself out. He kept struggling but he was quickly running out of steam. Punches, kicking, elbowing, scratching, hair pulling, none of it had any effect on him whatsoever.

He had a determined look on his face and he wasn't moving. He was just blocking his attempted hits to the face and tolerating the hits and kicks he tried to inflict on his other body parts as if they didn't even hurt. He was hurting, though, he'd hurt himself trying to kick him in the shin in his bare feet; he was like a man-made of steel or something.

"Ouch, fuck! Fuck off. Let me go!"

He stopped struggling for a moment, zapped energy and winded, and looked around the room for something to use as a weapon while catching his breath. He let go of his hair and put his hands up in a defensive posture, looking sort of amused.

He hauled off, intending to punch his jaw as hard as he could to knock that smug look off his face but he caught his fist in his hand and leaned in as he heard the thump of his fist hit the palm of his hand. He tightened his grip around his fist and it hurt a little. He ignored the pain and brought his knee up hard and nailed him in between the legs. Nothing happened and he knew he'd hit hard enough that it should've sent him to the floor. It felt like his knee hit steel and pain spread out across his knee. Was he wearing a cup?

The smirk on his face evaporated. First, his jaw tightened and then his upper lip curled. Then, before his eyes, almost as if in slow motion, his eye teeth elongated and he was faced with fangs.

Vampire fangs?

What…

the…

fuck?

They just protruded, like a magic trick or something. His legs disintegrated into what felt like rubber bands and everything went black as the floor rose to meet him.

2

Jungkook heard the conversation. After a nanosecond of disorientation, he remembered the predicament he was in. And what a predicament it was! He kept his eyes closed and listened to male voices.

He was on the bed, his face was partially shielded by pillows, that vampire guy was talking and he overheard the clinking of glass. He must be picking up broken glass from the decanter he had thrown. Then there was laughter.

That vampire guy? Wait. Was that really what had happened?

"Uh oh; losing your touch just as soon as you get your crown and sceptre?" said a male voice, not the vampire.

"Not funny," was the vampire's reply.

His blood ran icy and hot at the same time and the hair at the back of his neck stood on end at the sound of that voice. Some survival instinct he had! Something like this happens, he faints instead of saving himself? Was he dreaming right now or had he seen fangs emerge from his mouth?

He tightened every muscle in his body to try to stop himself from trembling. The room went dead quiet, it felt like there were eyes on him. He squeezed his eyes shut tighter and stayed as still as possible, biting down hard on his lower lip. Then he realized that this was probably the problem. His breathing pattern changing had likely tipped them off to the fact that he was awake. Could he smell his fear? He heard rustling.

"Jeon Jungkook. Looks like Jungkook is, uh, 24. Ooh, nice pink Taser," another male voice said. He must be digging through his purse. How'd he gotten it? His purse had still been in his locked locker at work. What on earth?

"Jungkook," the vampire said. The way he said it made him feel like he was tasting it. He cringed. He could feel the bed shift as he sat down, "Let's try this again. Go ahead and get me all the details you can. Call ya later."

"Got it, Boss," a different male voice answered, then added, "Have fun."

Fear rushed through him. A door clicked shut.

"Jungkook?" the vampire said, almost sang, softly. He felt a hand in his hair and fingertips gently traced the curve of his ear, sending a shiver up his spine.

He bit down on his tongue and fought to remain still. The scent of baked goods filled his nostrils.

"I know you're awake. Look at me," he said softly.

He didn't move. This was beyond scary! He dreaded the idea of seeing those fangs again. Fainting might not save him again. Would he drain his dry and toss his rumpled empty shell of a body into a dumpster?

"I'm not angry. You don't have to be afraid," he said this like he was talking to a small child, "You didn't hurt me but you were about to hurt yourself so I had to show you who you were dealing with. Look at me."

He remained as still as possible but couldn't stop trembling. He could feel the bed press down further and pillows were moved out of the way. He opened his eyes to see him hovering over him, caging his in with his arms. The room's lights were on now.

This can't be happening to me.

He drank him in for a moment with those insanely bright blue eyes and he felt vulnerable, almost naked under his inspection. His eyes scanned his face and then fixed on his heaving chest. His face flushed. He closed his eyes tight.

He took his under his arms and effortlessly hauled his into a sitting position, leaving his no choice but to face him.

"Jungkook," he said, with way too much familiarity.

"Please don't kill me." His chin was trembling.

"Where did you come from?" he asked, incredulous.

"Huh?"

His eyes searched his. He was shaking his head.

"What do you mean? Someone grabbed me. I was just minding my own business. I…" he stopped, perplexed by his question. He didn't look scary right now. His fangs weren't showing. He was studying his face, looking puzzled. He swallowed hard and for a moment they were both quiet. He continued to do what he could only describe as searching his face for something. He was beyond uncomfortable at being scrutinized so closely, like a lab specimen.

He was beautiful. Jungkook would rarely or maybe even never say that about a man. He'd probably only thought about a handful of famous men in his life and never anyone he'd laid eyes on in person, really, but he was. Handsome, sexy, cute? Alright. But beautiful? He was. He wasn't pale or sickly looking like you'd expect a vampire to look. Oh no, he was a 21st-century movie-star beautiful. Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, that kind of vampire is beautiful.

But of course, he was. He was a voracious reader and had read many vampire books. He had dozens of them on his Kindle and his Goodreads shelf. He'd seen just about every popular vampire movie, too, so knew all about the beauty of a male vamp book boyfriend.

Louis and Lestat in the Interview with a Vampire movie adaptation: they were beautiful so that they could seduce others, drink their blood, and then toss them aside. This guy was beautiful like that. He felt a pang of regret at words he and his friends had spoken during a movie night back before he moved to this city. They'd waxed lyrical about being willing to be an all-you-can-drink-and-fuck buffet for either Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise (Pre-Katie Holmes Tom Cruise because everyone knew that he'd turned in his heartthrob card around the time of Oprah's yellow sofa). Either one. Preferably both. At the same time? Sure! Who knew when he'd said that, that vampires were real?

There was a quick rap on the door, breaking what felt like a spell as they stared one another down. His teeth scraped his lower lip for a beat then he said, "Be right back." He whispered this and it sounded threatening but seductive at the same time.

He walked out via the door he'd hurled the decanter at. The door clicked shut and he heard the thud of a lock. He sat completely still but his mind raced at warp speed. He knew he was locked in and even if he wasn't, he wondered if he'd have the nerve to try to run after having seen that he had fangs and the ability to become very scary-looking. And who else was out there, ready to stop him from leaving?

He gaped and shuddered and was about to get up and look for something to use as a weapon but then the door opened again and he carried a tall glass of clear liquid to him. He didn't move, just stayed still with his hands covering his mouth, staring up at him.

"Drink," he passed the glass to him. He accepted it, fingers trembling. Suddenly, he was parched. His mouth was almost like it was filled with cotton balls. He sniffed the liquid. It didn't smell like anything. He held it for a minute, looking at him cautiously.

"Just water," he said.

He drank it. It seemed to be just plain water. He hoped that's all it was.

Please don't let this be a date rape drug. Heck, he was a vampire; wasn't he a date rape drug?

"Thanks. So, this is some sort of misunderstanding so if I could just go…" There was another quick rap on the door. He tensed.

The vampire had been regarding him with his head slightly tilted like he was a rare specimen on display at a zoo. He took the glass from his and then opened the door an inch and spoke through it. Jungkook didn't see who he spoke to and couldn't hear what they were saying. His ears felt like they were echoing in a long noisy hallway and he was a little lightheaded. He wrapped his arms around himself and started to shiver. He was freaking right out.

He could see by his back and shoulders that he wasn't just tall, but strong, too. He hadn't considered that when he'd tried to fight his way out of the room. Looking now he knew it'd likely be impossible to get away from him if he had to battle him physically. He'd have to escape when he wasn't looking. If there was that opportunity. He silently prayed there would be.

He was wearing a black long-sleeved Henley and distressed-looking button fly dark jeans with black boots. The shirt was skin tight, his muscles were defined but not bulky. His jeans fit just right, too. He was a tall drink of water, as they say.

Yeah, a tall drink of water with fangs. Did he drug me? Why is my mind even thinking about the way he looks?

He clicked the door shut and walked, slowly, toward him, predator-like, "This is a very interesting quandary we have here, little firecracker. I don't know why you're so lucid. You see, because of what I am…" He paused and gave his a slow and sexy smile, "and you now know what I am," he was at the edge of the bed when he flashed his fangs and then they quickly receded. Jungkook's eyes widened and he wanted to gulp but couldn't. He was making a point of letting him know that what he'd seen before wasn't his mind playing tricks on him, "This isn't how this usually goes but it's sort of… refreshing." He smiled a big smile at him. It struck him as oozing with arrogance.

"I think…" he continued and stroked his chin thoughtfully, "I think that the wise thing here would be for me to stick to plan A. Then, after that, let's see what happens, shall we?" he put a knee to the bed and climbed up the bottom and sat down beside him.

"Plan A? What's that?" he asked, thinking he was sitting too close, way too close.

"The reason you were brought to me."

"And that is?"

"So I can fuck you," he said, stone serious, "and drink some of your blood."

And with that statement, it was as if the bottom dropped out from under him.

The way he said those words to his dripped with sex. On a normal day, at the very least, someone with that much gumption would've gotten some flirting before he knocked him back, knowing that he was only after one thing. It had been a long time since anyone warranted getting his number let alone into his pants and this guy was way out of his league, shit, out of most others's' league. But he knew that. And that's why he'd probably have flirted back and then a snarky retort would've ended it before anything ever began. Nope, Mr Sexy Arrogant Vampire would not, even if he weren't a vamp, be the one to chase away Jungkook's cobwebs.

He hated games and had no time for players. He loved putting players in their place. As a bartender with a rough upbringing and plenty of street smarts Jungkook was often underestimated. He looked feminine but when he opened his mouth he could, as his roommate's mom had said, make a sailor blush. He was usually the queen of comebacks.

Getting knocked over the head (or whatever had happened), dragged off to a vampire's lair, or whatever this was, and then being told that he was going to get fucked and have his blood drank? Not on his agenda for this evening. He had to find a way to get the heck outta here.

His brain felt so discombobulated right now. What a turn this night had taken — proof that things could change in a New York minute. The evening had started and ended like any normal work night. He had just finished his shift bartending and would've gone back to his dumpy little shared apartment where he'd have made a Nutella and banana sandwich or maybe some Ramen noodle soup or grilled cheese and then fast-forward through commercials to watch his DVR'd soap opera….a soap opera that drove his nuts but that he couldn't seem to stop watching because he was 'invested'.

Eventually, he'd have passed out for 4, maybe 5 hours, woken up, gone for a run and then started his 11-5 shift at the diner. After dinner, he'd try to grab a cat nap and then head back to the bar to work from 10 to 3:30. Working two jobs to save up enough to go back to school was challenging and most days Jungkook ran around between the jobs with very little time for a social life or more than a few hours of sleep.

Jeon Jungkook's life hadn't been easy so far. He had been orphaned at almost 4 years old, had very few memories of his parents, and was put in foster care where he stayed until the ripe old age of 18 when he'd been turfed out like a baby bird to fly on his own but without many tools for success.

No one he'd encountered in the world of social services seemed to even care if he sank or swam. It'd been touch and go there for a while. Now in his mid-20's, he was on the verge of beating the odds and not ending up a statistic, a product of "the system". Until today — today, when he'd been snatched from the alley behind his work and met his first vampire. Wow.

He'd been dragged off and put in a room bigger than his whole apartment where a movie-star looking vampire was in a decorating store showroom bed beside his and telling his very matter-of-factly that he was going to fuck his and drink his blood. This was either a nightmare, he was being Punk'd, or he had actually stumbled (or, rather, been dragged) onto proof that vampires existed. Actual vampires.

How the heck did I get here? Why me?

He briefly thought about a scandalous scene in a Dracula movie he'd seen a few years back where a vampire seduced a young bloods in his bedroom late at night. He pushed the sexy scene out of his head. So many stories and books about vampires existed under the guise of fiction. The fact that he had now seen proof that they were real was utterly insane to him.

He leaned toward him, a smile on his lips, clearly intrigued by the fact that he was quite obviously pondering his fate.

"Wait," he flexed the palm of his hand at him, halting him.

"Yes?" he asked expectantly, a wry gleam in his eyes.

"I do not consent."

He couldn't think of what else to say. He knew after what had transpired so far that he couldn't likely physically fight him off without a weapon but maybe he could reason with him. He had to at least try.

"Consent?" he raised his brows.

"I don't consent to this. Don't you need my permission?"

"That's permission to enter your house, not enter your….you." He tilted his head and gave him a cocky smile, "And that's one of the many vampire legends that are myths. I don't need permission … for anything."

"You gonna kill me?"

"Haven't decided yet," he said without pausing for thought.

The air seemed to almost visibly thicken between them. He had to stall to try to figure out how to get out of this situation.

"How reassuring," he mumbled, then continued, "But why me? And why did you say something is," he held his fingers up in mock quotes, "off" with me?"

"I might."

"Might what?" he tilted his head at him.

"I might have to kill you. And you're stalling," he said, tilting his head the opposite way.

He started to tremble harder. He folded his arms across his chest and let out a deep breath to try to steady himself.

"Wouldn't you try to stall if you were about to be killed?"

"Hmmm, I suppose," he smirked, "You see, I'd only planned to fuck you and bite you, of course, but now I have a dilemma." He leaned forward, stone serious, and spoke slowly and expressively, "There's something off here because I'm typically able to put others into a very compliant state … effortlessly. They look into my eyes, become mesmerized, and let me have my…wicked," his icy blue eyes twinkled, "wicked way with them. Then afterwards… they just forget." He shrugged, licked his lips, and then continued, "But you… little cherry bomb, with the feline eyes; you're not being very compliant. I haven't been able to mesmerize you. And I'm usually very good at that. What does that mean?"

Jungkook shook his head, "Don't know."

"Hmm. As refreshing as it might be to wrestle with you some more and have some real fun," he moistened his lips and eyed his hungrily, "you might not forget. I'm not sure it's a good idea for you to be out there with the memory of me. It could complicate things." He tucked a stray lock of dark curls that had escaped his ponytail behind his ear. He winced at his touch but felt like there was static still connecting his fingers to his skin. He stared at his fingertips for a second, processing the sensation.

"I'm not sure I have time for complications right now," he said, then added, "So, are we going to do this the easy way or the hard way?" He looked at his fingers as if he'd felt something, too.

His scalp prickled. The handsome guy leaning way too close to his was not what he seemed, probably by design. His armour was up and he was determined to not let it drop because he was good-looking (vast understatement!).

"What's the easy way? How do I stay alive?"
