I sat in the sands for a few minutes before moving on toward the sea zone. I stayed close to rocky outcroppings in the dessert for cover whenever I thought I saw someone. I wasn't good at interacting with people. It was actually a miracle I managed to have friends at all before this all happened. So in the end I was avoiding people left and right.
I found my way to the beach of the sea zone. fires were scattered here and there across the beach in great numbers. But only one truly caught my attention. It was a bonfire much larger than the others. And sitting in front of it was the troll from earlier. I had questions but I held back still. I could see his face and clearly he was shaken. Whatever happened to him was brutal. I really didn't want to face whatever he had to go through.
I remained on the edge of the beach with my ears and eyes peeled for anything that moved. I suddenly felt something against my throat.
I glanced down and saw a blade. It was a gladius. A type of Roman sword if memory serves. "Who are you?" I heard a womans voice from behind me. A cold sweat had broken out from my back as I slowly raised my hands. "Don't move!" She hissed as she pushed the blade against my throat more. I stopped as I saw a tick of health dissapear.
"I'm not an enemy." I said slowly.
"Hmph. I don't care what you are. I want to know who you are." She said indignantly. I'll be honest. I really hated her right now.
My Claws extended and she went to slice my throat. Fortunately one of my sickles shot up and knocked the blade upwards so only my cheek got cut. It took 20 notches off my health. My chains shot out and wrapped around her foot dragging her off balance as I spun to see who it was behind me.
It was a dark haired woman with a copper breast plate. Her attire was definitely Roman and she was very ticked off.
I dove onto the beach eager to get away from her. I didn't know her abilities and I wasn't eager to find out. I bolted into the groups of fires. I weaved through them as I heard the sand moving after me. The woman was still after me. I could hear her stomping feet as she went. I looked around me quickly as I made my way through. I had an idea spark through my mind. If I could make my way to the troll I might be able to use him as cover. I shot out my chains and made a dust cloud from the beach so I didn't leave tracks and so the woman wouldn't catch me. I made my way over to the troll. He towered over me. " Hey.... uh.... I'm kinda hiding from that angry woman. Mind helping me out. I'll owe you one." I told him. He looked at the angry woman following and raised a leg.
I hurriedly dug out a small hollow and made sure the sand sat evenly before diving in. He lowered his leg to cover me.
I heard muffled yelling from my hiding spot. It was obviously the woman. Her voice was slightly hoarse from chasing me but I was nowhere to be seen. "Where did he go!?" She roared in frustration.
I dug a little and found a crack of light. I peeked through it and saw her hauling her sword outside of it's sheathe. She was pacing with the look of a crazed maniac on her face. Crap... this is not good. I suddenly felt my eyes warm and an information screen popped into my vision.

I remembered my feather of truth perk being able to show me another's basic status. It wasn't much to go on but it was enough. I remained hidden in my leg covered hole till she left. "She's gone." A rumbling voice said as the troll lifted his leg and I got out of my hole.
I collapsed to the ground next to the troll man. "Not many people can make another person that angry." He rumbled. I lifted my head a bit and looked at him. "I dont even know what I did to deserve her hatred." I said. My voice was hoarse from running and the dust in the air.
I slowly sat up and made myself a seat out of sand. I laid there next to the fire. "My name is Leroy. Yours?" The rumbling voice sounded. "My friends call me Sil." I said quietly. The troll eyed me up and down a bit before really settling back into his big pile of sand. "How'd you wind up here?" Leroy said slowly.
"The Roulette." I said as he nodded. "Me too. From the same colony if we're in here together." His voice lulled a little like a southern man but his tone was like a man from the backstreets. Like he was from Compton when it existed. "How'd the BL00D get you man?"
I looked at him and sighed. Figured I might not sound as crazy as I would have before. And as a guy who helped a complete stranger I felt like I owed him something.
"I... was dying in my tube next to the tear in the ship when a monster came and saved me. I was run through with a piece of the hull. He just pulled me out of my tube and implanted BL00D cells into me to try and save me. Next second I woke up in this place." I said with my head hung a little low anticipating a laugh or something.
"So your the Impaled kid." He said. My head jerked around to stare at him. He smirked a little. "I was in the tube next to yours. My tube malfunctioned and I almost got launched out the tear in the ship. My door flew off and cracked the glass on your tube. When we stopped rolling one of my arms was broken and I had a broken back. Funny thing was I heard what you said about living through the flight but not the landing and laughing. Kinda made me smile a bit." He said as he sat up a little more. I flushed a little in embarrassment.
"So someone heard me." I said sheepishly as I rubbed the back of my head.
"Yup. And I saw the horned dude pull you out of there. I thought he was Lucifer doing his errands or something. But turns out he was saving us. After he pulled you out he came for me. Same thing I guess. Fixed my back and arm. For what it's worth. I'd rather be here than on Mars man." Leroy said as he flipped off the moon. "F_€% that place man." He said and I started laughing.
It felt good to laugh. It wasn't long till the sun rose and I stood to leave. Leroy waved me goodbye before stomping into the distance.I looked around and started back toward the desert. Figured I could still use some points and combat skills. I was still lacking a bit.
That was before a spear landed next to me. I turned to see that crazy woman from last night glaring at me. I glared back at her and bolted into the desert again. She roared at me but I could hear her struggling against somebody who was holding her back. All I could think was thanking that person the next time I saw them.
I hauled myself all over the desert the next couple days. Worms were getting rarer and Puffballs were practically nonexistent. Speaking of which. I checked on my little friends and found 15 cocoons laying in the Pen. They expanded and contracted like they were breathing. A small sign hung above them. "Evolution in progress. Please be quiet and leave them alone." I shrugged and closed the page.
"Guess I'll find out when they're done." I said as I trudged through the desert. A small sand storm rose and I found shelter in a rocky outcropping. I waited for an hour or so before the storm settled down and I could continue onward. My instincts told me to head to the forest again for prey and they weren't wrong. I found 5 snakes bringing my point score up to 150 points.
My gamer side loved the points. But my more human side screamed that I was murdering things. I ended up caving to my gamer side to keep me sane in this messed up world.
I ventured further into the forest and actually bumped into another person. Unfortunately it was the one person I wanted to avoid. Bellona charged at me with her sword raised before being stopped by a hand made of rocks. My eyes widened to the size of dinner plates as the rock hand drew her back from me and toward a larger entity. He was a man made of stones and sand. Massive and Bulky. But it was obviously built like a tank. "Now now Melissa. No need to go killing people just cause they got the best of you. He's doing his best to survive just like we are." A voice that sounded like rocks hitting each other echoed out. My eyes warmed as another data screen unfolded before me.

I looked at him. And sighed. "I suppose I owe you my thanks." I said as I glared at Bellona or Melissa as he called her. She huffed and crossed her arms like a spoiled child. I raised an eyebrow before turning around to leave.
"I didn't realize anybody else was here so I'll go ahead and leave this place to you." Before anybody could say anything I ran across the ground toward the grasslands. I heard the girl screaming something after me. Sounded like cussing and swearing to me.
I soon found the grasslands and heard the wind make it rustle in waves as it blew past. I saw chunks of grass moving here and there and began to think. I took out a sickle and cut a bunch of grass. I dropped it and waited to see if it would grow back immediately. It did not. It took half an hour to grow back. To almost waist height. I smiled a little and shot out a sickle in a wide arc. It mowed down the grass like a lawn mower. When it returned I had a clear view of everything within 15 feet of myself. I saw a snake look at me and seemingly pale before buggering off into the tall grass. Was that thing afraid of me? I ventured forward swinging my blades.
I was soon met with a little resistance. 2 snakes that added to my point pool. "Thats 170 point for me" I smugly said to myself. After about half an hour I started back toward the sea zone again.
It was a nice walk. I hadn't really tested my abilities or had a decent opportunity to. My healing abilities had made it so I had no damage left from the night before. Not even a scar.
I found Leroy by his big bonfire when I got back. He was smiling a little and it was easy to notice. "Got a few kills today I see." I said as I approached. He nodded. "Yeah. Just took a while to adjust to the body of an Ice Giant is all." He said gleefully.
Ice Giant? I gave him a look up and down. I took a step back mentally and actually managed to get the feather to activate for me by focusing on Leroy who gave me a confused look. My screen Popped up.

"Ahh. Seems you can't judge a book by it's cover." I said with a slight grin.
