CHAPTER 3: THAT MAN IS THE NEW CEO

I heard that the eldest son of the previous CEO would take over the position of the company. For the past years I was working here. I have not been meeting them in person only the CEO. Even in the party of the company, not even once I attended it.

I was not important that they would notice my absence. It was not compulsory so I was lucky enough not to spend my time buy gowns in every occasion they have.

As I stepped out from the employees' elevator, the CEO elevator suddenly opened. There is man standing inside when I caught my eyes to his face.

I froze there looking into his eyes. My heart was beating abnormally. It never beats like that to anyone as I saw the man.

I came back to my senses when the elevator closes. I was an idiot when I realized it was the new CEO. I addressed him in my mind as the man, which is inappropriate because no ordinary man or even higher officials of the company can ride that elevator.

'That man is the new CEO, Shana.'

I stepped forward to my office knocking my head through my right knuckle. No one was still arrived in my office since it was too early even in my senior accountant office.

I was really stupid I shook my head as I entered my own office. I put down my bag on the desk drawer. I sat down my chair and leaned back to rest for a while. I closed my eyes but the face of that man flashed. I quickly opened my eyes confusing me why it appears all of the sudden.

I got up, go directly to my coffeemaker, which is inside my office. I turned it on; maybe I was still asleep when it happens. Maybe it was just an illusion that I saw our CEO without greeting him. He was not that old. A few years older than me.

"Yeah, that was it, it was an illusion, Shana. It is impossible that he will come this early. Yes, Shana, it was nothing to bother about it. He will not mind you at all." I said to myself loudly, stating that I did not see him and so does he.

My mind went back to normal when I heard my coffee maker ding. I poured it to my cup and turned it off after.

I sat back to my chair when I heard my phone ringtone. I opened my drawer table and unzipped my bag then found my phone's light blinking.

I slide the icon to answer. "Hello" I answered, sipping my coffee after. "What's up?"

"Hello Shassy!" It was Jake Miller on the other line. "I do not know how to say this." He said nervously.

I raised my eyebrow. "Say what?" I asked curiously. I got the feeling that it might be bad. I know him since high school. We were close like my siblings.

I heard him sighing on the other line. "Zari left and I could not contact her." His voice was kind of worried about something else.

"What do you mean she left? Aren't you in Paris?" I asked, but in my mind, I know something is up with my sister. They were always together as a team since we were younger. They kind of best friend and I, on the other hand have too.

"I was in Paris with her but she left me a note stated that she needs to settle something important." He spoke. "I am here in NY; we have a show tomorrow night. We already signed that contract if she will not be there to do the modeling, we will pay the damage and it is millions." He added that I almost dropped my jaw. That so much money we're talking about.

'What is going on with my sister?'

"Meet me at my condo after work. I will be home early." I said and cut the line.

I tried to call my sister's phone but it was her recorded voice.

"Hi! This is Zari. I cannot talk to you right now but just leave a message and be back to you soon."

'Where the hell are you Zari?' I said in my mind.

I know my sister always have her own reason doing this. I could feel in my twin instinct thing she is not in some kind of danger. She is okay.

I tried to go back on my workloads right now. I need to focus on my work and set aside my personal matters for now.

For that moment, I started to concentrate doing what I do best. It helps when you have a lot of things to do. It forgets everything.

There's a knock from the door. "Come in."

"Ms. Shana it's time for lunch. Would you like to join us? We will be eating outside." Beth asked.

"No, just buy me some foods after your meal. I will just eat in here." I get some money for my meal and gave it to Beth. "Anything will do. Thanks!"

Beth went out for lunch together with some of my staffs which they usually do. Sometimes I go with them but most of the time I just stay here.

I continue doing my work while she hasn't come back yet. But time to time, I still check my phone. Still, Zari's phone was in a voicemail. I sighed. I leaned back to rest a bit.

Just a few minutes, I heard a knock again. That would be Beth, she was a cheerful person every time I see her. I stood up and walk toward the couch.

"Ms. Shana, you would not believe what we saw as we bought this?" She said as she placed it in the center table.

"What? Who?" I asked as I started open the take-out food. 'Mmmm smells delicious.'

"Our new CEO. At first I thought it was an actor that pass by but Mary whispered to me that it is our new CEO." Her smile was wide as she shared it to me. "OMG! As in oh my golly! He is so handsome."

I giggled with her expressions. Even she's a married she's still acted like that. Well, I froze this morning when I saw him earlier. Of course, I agreed with her that he's OMG!
