I braced myself as I held my resume in my hands. I am now in from of the extravagant private library. Good thing they were hiring as I looked up their website online.
"You got this, Caroline." I whispered to myself. "You're the top student for goodness sake." I whispered to myself as I entered the big glass door.
Turns out that was just the first door.
The second or has a guard that had an S badge on his chest. The Library's name is Siren Library after all. I didn't know this place existed. Turns out, it's just two towns away but the travel is tiresome. I had to take two bus trips to get here.
I walked up to the guard with a smile. "Good morning. I'm here to apply as a librarian."
The guard looked at me with a stern look but then he looked down at the neck and locked his eyes on it.
Is there something wrong?
"Do you perhaps know the owner?" He asked me.
I nodded. "It's miss Olivia-"
"CAROLINE!!!" My breath was cut short by the surprise bear hug from the back that miss Olivia is giving. She finally set me down and looked at me from head to toe in curiosity. "Why are you all dressed up? You look so pretty." She admired. I looked at the guard for help but he just laughed silently, snickering to the side. Jerk!
"I'm here for an interview. I want to apply as a librarian here. It's my dream to work at a place like this." I said to her with a smile.
I only got to see the library from the pictures but I just know that it would be something else if I get to see them personally.
Miss Olivia looked at me with a confused look and then slapped her cheek. "Ah I forgot to update the website this morning." She sighed. "Caroline, we already had a librarian hired yesterday..."
"Oh...is that so?" I looked at her with a smile. That's no problem at all.
"BUT!" She chimmed. "I can just hire you as another librarian hihihi."
"Really, miss Olivia?" I looked at her with hope in my eyes.
Mis Olivia nodded. "Yes ofcourse. We need people with willingness to lend helping hands like you..."
"When is my interview?" I asked her as she stopped in front of a pair of dark oak doors.
She snickered. "Interview shminterview. You're hired." She enveloped me in a bearhug again.
"T-thank y-you miss Olivia." She lets me go and I took a deep breath in. "When will I start working?" I asked her.
"Start working what?"
I froze, feeling butterflies in my stomach again. Even if it's just his voice, it gets me weak.
"Oh! I forget to mention. You'll be working with Kosair since he's the manager of this museum." Miss Olivia cheered. "Kosair, teach her the ropes." Olivia ordered her son.
It's cute and funny to see a mother lecture her son.
Kosair leaned on the wall. "On one condition." Kosair looked at me with a serious glance.
Miss Olivia nodded. "Spill"
"Her desk will be in my office AND she'll work multitasking as my personal assistant."
Miss Olivia looked at me and then back at Kosair. "I can only do the desk move but it's another job for Caroline to do." She thought.
I looked at miss Olivia. "It's alright, miss Olivia. It's already summer break for me. It'll also be beneficial for me to have this job experience." I smiled. "And...I want to pay back Kosair"
Miss Olivia was smiling at my response but got confused. "Pay back what?"
I pointed at the jewelry. "This necklace. Kosair said it's priceless. Let me work as to pay back for it."
Kosair shook his head. "That's not I meant by priceless." he looked at me with a small smile on his lips and my heart fluttered.
Miss Olivia perked her head up. "That's true. I know that necklace is priceless. In fact, it's not easily attainable to just any person. Don't worry, Caroline. I'll be paying you double." Miss Olivia said as she raised a peace sign up to the ceiling.
"But-"
"No buts! Now, you better go rest up for tomorrow. You've had a week." Miss Olivia said as she and Kosair walked me out of the library.
"How did you know I had a rough week?" I jokingly asked her which caught her...off guard.
She smiled at me nervously for a second but shook it off immediately. "Just a hunch."
"Alright. Thank you so much, miss Olivia." I gave her a small bow. Her reactions seemed to be a little weird...but I brushed that thought off.
Then I started to string something together.
I gasped. "No way..."
