Chapter 76

Yua was completely decked up for the dinner. The girl I knew who loves to wear short clothes was dressed in a simple elegant floor length gown. Black in colour with a sweet heart neckline, exposing too much skin for my liking. True to her word, she had cut her hair short. Chin length and dyed black with streaks of white. A white pearl necklace adorned her neck with matching earrings and a bracelet.

To be honest, she looked really pretty. If only she didn't have a black heart.

"Oh you naughty boy!" Yua's mum said as she smacked me on the arm. "Stop staring at my beautiful Yua. Go take a seat. Quick!"

Everyone burst out laughing.

"That's how we men are wired honey" her husband said. "We can't take our eyes off a beautiful woman"

Yua blushed and I gave them a fake smile as I took a seat in the dining room. I couldn't believe that her own father would say such a thing. The same man who always tells me to keep the door to her room open for he could pop in at any time. I wonder why we were all dressed so elegantly. My mum made me wear a suit and gel my hair. I was looking super fine and I knew it. But why? It's not like we went out for dinner. It's being held in their own house!

Yua followed and sat directly in front of me. Her parents and mine followed, each taking a seat facing their respective partners.

A line of servants walked in, each carrying a tray of food which they carefully arranged on the large table. There were all sorts of food but I didn't have any appetite. I just wanted the dinner to be over fast so I could go see Ryu. I had already sent him a text saying I might not make it tonight. He called me immediately he read the message to ask why and I explained the whole shit to him. He understood and told me it was okay if we couldn't meet. Besides, there was still Sunday.

"Aito honey, how is school?" Yua's mum asked me to which I shrugged. "It's fine. The usual. Exams would start soon though"

"Ah yes. Yua told us about it. She also mentioned that you want to join the family business"

"Absolutely" Dad butt in. "He's my only child. My only son. Having him follow in our footsteps is a dream come true"

Yua's mum nodded. "You must be so proud"

"Oh yes we are" Mum replied. "And you too. Yua wants to study medicine. What an admirable profession"

"What part will you specialize in, Yua?" I asked mainly out of curiosity.

"Neurosurgery" she replied.

I nodded. Yua could actually do it. She's super smart. Assuming any school picks her after I expose her to the world. “Good luck” I told her. She would definitely need it.

"Would you look at that" Yua's mum cooed. "They look so cute"

Okay now this was super weird. Why were they acting like this?

"I agree" my mum said. "So cute"

What the hell was so cute about what we said?

If they said anymore, Yua would have turned redder than a tomato. Thankfully, my dad asked about how their business was going and they immersed themselves in work talk.

I decided to just enjoy my dinner while hoping time would run faster so I could leave. My phone buzzed in my pocket and I fished it out to see a text from Ryu.

Ryu:

Hey baby;)

My mood rose from 10% to 100% instantly.

Me:

Hiiii:)

Ryu:

How are you? How's dinner going?

Me:

Not good.

Ryu:

Why? What's wrong?

Me:

I miss you so bad:(

Ryu:

Aww I miss you too baby.

Can I see you? I bet you look sexy;)

Me:

No way. I can't send a picture. We're eating.

Ryu:

Video call? You can mute it. I just want to see how hot my baby looks.

Damn. How could I refuse that?

Okay.

His call came through a few seconds later. I answered then quickly muted it so I won't gain their attention. I lifted my phone as high as the table so Ryu could get a clear view.

His brows shot up and his jaw hung open the minute he set eyes on me. I was equally stunned for he was sitting in bed, shirtless.

Holy shit. Seeing him like that did things to my body. I started to feel all tingly.

He made a motion with his lips which I read as 'wow'. He started to wink and send me flying kisses to which I laughed quietly, hoping no one would notice.

I was wrong.

"What's funny?" Yua asked me. Her voice was low so she didn't attract the parents.

I shook my head and quickly canceled the call. "Nothing nothing. I just remembered something funny"

"Oh. Care to share?"

"Nah... it's kinda an inside joke between Haruto and I" I lied.

She sighed. "We used to have inside jokes too"

Yeah. Before she caused Aera's death. “Stop pretending as if everything is fine between us Yua. We’re no longer friends and you know that”

She went silent. Glad that shut her up.

My phone buzzed. Another text from Ryu.

Ryu:

I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight. I keep seeing you when I close my eyes.

I chuckled softly. So sweet.

Me:

Isn't it too early for bed? I might still get a chance to come over

Ryu:

It is but I've got nothing else to do. Oh I forgot to tell you. Mum is home tonight.

Damn. There goes my escape plans.

Me:

Bummer. Tomorrow then?

Ryu:

Definitely love. Nothing's taking you away from me tomorrow. I'll switch off your phone if I have to.

I couldn't help but laugh.

Me:

Don't worry;)

I'm not going anywhere

Ryu:

Good. See you tomorrow baby

Okay. I...

The next thing I wanted to write shocked me. I was about to type the three sacred words. 'I love you'. Holy shit! That would totally scare him. In fact, I've scared myself! I quickly changed it to 'Good night' and stuffed my phone back in my pocket.

"...a new part of his life" I heard mum say. "Right Aito dear?"

All eyes turned on me. I tensed. What was happening? "uh... sorry mum. I didn't hear you"

"I said that we're all going to be family since Yua is going to be a new part of your life. Right?"

I was absolutely confused. "A new part of my life?"

Mum's smile was blinding. "Yes dear. We've been hinting at it since we arrived, hoping you'd tell us the good news but I can't wait anymore. We know about your plans to marry Yua"

Huh?

My plans to what!?

They burst out laughing.

"No need to look that shocked son" Dad said. "How could you think that we wouldn't find out? Why do you think we came back so soon?"

I looked at Yua who was staring at me with shiny eyes. Her dad and mum had this look of complete joy on their faces. My own parents looked so proud. I didn't understand a single thing. Marry Yua? What brought this up? Who even created the idea? Where did they get the whole shit from? How did the talk of marriage even start? And above all, why Yua?

"T-There must have been some misunderstanding" I said. "I don't-"

"No need to pretend anymore honey" her mum said. "We know everything. In fact, you two can get engaged immediately after you graduate"
