Sacrifice [Edward Elric x Reader]

You fall to the ground, unconscious. Ed's grin turns down and his eyes widen in horror. A bright yellow light fills the room. He traces the thick black vine that reached out from the machine into your heart. Ed's knees gives up from under him. Al rushes in. "Brother, what's-" Ed turns to Al, tears and desperation filling his eyes. "She's gone, Al. She's gone. And it's all my fault!" Al's eyes widen as he stares at the figure behind his brother. Your body was vaporizing slowly. Al points towards you, shaking. The yellow light swallows your body, along with the vine and Ed's machine. Ed turns and hangs his head as everything falls silent. Al stands there wordlessly. Ed blinks away his tears, determination set in his eyes. "She's gone, Al, but I won't allow that. It's not a fair equivalent exchange." Ed looks up at Al. "We're going to bring her back." ~ Something weird is up. Your powerful alchemy powers were admired all through the land, and yet no one seems to know what alchemy is. That is, until you meet Edward Elric and his brother, Alphonse Elric. The two are fascinated yet understanding of your powers, and Ed is able to teach you some alchemy, though he won't tell you how he knows. Through many hardships with the Elric brothers, you begin to grow close to them, and even start to fall for Al, but he doesn't feel the same. Ed, though, falls for you, and you couldn't help but feel bad. You don't realize how you feel about him. That is, until Ed sacrifices the most important thing to him to be able to keep you by his side. ************ This story is based on the original FMA series after the Conqueror of Shamballa movie. If you want to read one for FMA:B, I'll have one up soon, as I'm not quite done with the series yet. But for now, enjoy!

"—(Y/N)."

You don't even have the time to scream at Ed in fury for giving up his younger brother. It all happens so quickly, you don't have time to register anything.

You're moved so fast you can't see any thing. Behind you, a loud cackle, then a shaking that causes the ceiling to crumble. You are thrown forwards from the tight grip of the arms, as the small black ribbons fade away. There's an explosion behind you, and you can feel the heat waves coming off of the light. Something hits you from the front, and stars explode in your vision, and pain shoots through your entire body, causing you to scream out in pain. You slither down the surface and crumple on the ground.

Your ears are ringing, your vision is dark and stars are floating everywhere. The front of your face and body aches, and there's something warm and sticky flowing from your nose.

"-run!" A voice screams in your ear, causing you to shudder. You look up dizzily as arms wrench you up from the ground, and everything lurches from underneath you.

"(Y/N)! Can you hear me!?"

You collapse again as the support is removed and another loud explosion followed by a yell causes you to sharpen a bit.

You stand up shakily and look around.

Ed is on the ground, obviously in pain. He isn't moving, but groaning as you see a deep crimson liquid leak from a large gash in his leg.

"Ed!" You gasp, as the fullness of your voice surprises you.

At the sound of your voice, the boy lifts his head feebly. He smiles a bit.

"(Y/N)... run... they're attacking.... plan.... backfired..."

Ed drops his head again and you yelp, making your way to him and checking his cut.

It's deep, cutting through the dark fabric of his pants, which were already stained with blood. You can see the flesh and flinch, wanting to look away but not wanting to take your eyes off it at the same time.

Another loud explosion shakes the cave. You jump to your feet and turn around. It's a mess.

There seems to be an inferno in the center of the room. The place where the portal used to be is a tornado of purple substance, not yet liquid but not gas at the same time. Purple sparks are shooting every which way, burning holes into everything they touch, but miraculously, not touching you.

There are yells and screams echoing through the room, and you see a familiar figure. A particular figure silhouetted against the purple inferno with long (H/C) hair.

You yell at her.

"Hey! ... (Sister/Name). Hey! Come here!"

She looks towards you, shakes her head, and turns back to her position where she's holding out her hands and seemingly saying something. Her entire body is shaking.

You look at the portal again. If you could just close it...

You take some blood from your still bleeding nose and clap your hands together, placing both palms on the ground. The cracks in the ground light up, and the lights spread all around the room.

The portal frame looks crumbly, but you know that it's probably stronger than it looks. You concentrate hard on trying to break the frame. You can imagine the atoms separating from each other, becoming chunks.

And suddenly, something sharp, like a stalagmite, shoots from the base of the frame upwards and pierces the top. You close your eyes and will everything to fall apart. The frame follows your thoughts.

The portal only becomes bigger.

"(Y/N)! Stop! It's no use! You have to kill the person who created it! He inserted part of his soul into that portal, it's un-destroyable unless you kill its master first!" (S/N) screams at you.

You look around, looking for someone almighty and looking like a god. You see someone like that, but it's not quite what you expected.

There's a man, dressed in a suit and tie, very formally. He's wearing a silver mask with intricate details on it, and his hair is swept to one side. You get the feeling that he would've been a very handsome man without the mask.

He's standing in the corner, hand raised, seemingly controlling the miasma. Something flares in your chest. So this was the person behind all this, behind everything.

He effortlessly moves his arm down, but the portal still rages on in crazy mode, and turns his head towards you.

You clench your jaw, tighten your fists, and frown at him.

This is the man who is the indirect but root cause of all of your problems. Al's leg, your face, Ed's "death," everything, literally.

This is the man who ruined your life, who caused Al to leave.

This is the man who lured your sister in, and tricked her.

You wanted to hurt him in every way possible, but you know that it'll be hard. Yes, you did have an advantage alchemy-wise, but this man has experience. You can practically feel the waves of power rolling off of him.

Everything seems to shut away, all the sound fades away and your surroundings melt into nothingness. All there is is you and him.

He speaks, and you shudder in the familiar tone. You can't see his smile through his mask, but you can hear it, amusement carrying out from his words.

"So, Metal Alchemist. We meet again."
