Sacrifice [Edward Elric x Reader]

You fall to the ground, unconscious. Ed's grin turns down and his eyes widen in horror. A bright yellow light fills the room. He traces the thick black vine that reached out from the machine into your heart. Ed's knees gives up from under him. Al rushes in. "Brother, what's-" Ed turns to Al, tears and desperation filling his eyes. "She's gone, Al. She's gone. And it's all my fault!" Al's eyes widen as he stares at the figure behind his brother. Your body was vaporizing slowly. Al points towards you, shaking. The yellow light swallows your body, along with the vine and Ed's machine. Ed turns and hangs his head as everything falls silent. Al stands there wordlessly. Ed blinks away his tears, determination set in his eyes. "She's gone, Al, but I won't allow that. It's not a fair equivalent exchange." Ed looks up at Al. "We're going to bring her back." ~ Something weird is up. Your powerful alchemy powers were admired all through the land, and yet no one seems to know what alchemy is. That is, until you meet Edward Elric and his brother, Alphonse Elric. chapter 35

"The people.... They hate... Alchemists," the girl looks pointedly at you, "like you. Not only that, but they also hate people who came from that same world," her gaze shifts from you to Ed," like you. And the truth is, they're not only feeling anger towards this world and its people... But they're jealous. They find it unfair that that world can simply change something by the touch of a hand, or the will of the mind. They think it's unfair that the people from the other side possess that ability. And so-"

"What the heck? Another round of thus jealousy!?" Ed mutters to himself. You look at him, confused.

"-the people want to bring justice to themselves. They haven't made themselves known yet, but they plan to soon. And once they do, they'll expose the secret of ou- of world and your secrets. They will become public and make sure to plant seeds of doubt in everyone's heart. And on the night of the lunar eclipse, December 27, this group of people will take its sacrifices — you guys — to open the gate again and turn the world around. They will somehow turn the gate — I really don't know how — and everything will be reversed. You guys are needed because the three of you hold the information to opening the gate in your mind, in your body and will. Even if you do not consciously know how, the information is encrypted deeply into your minds, and they will use that. But the thing is, you'll be destroyed from the digging going through your mind and the power they're sucking from you. You're gonna die. So that's why the three of you are sacrifices. Even if, by some miracle chance, you survive, you'll still be too weak maintain yourself and will die shortly afterwards. That's their secret."

You stare at the girl, shocked but not really shocked at the same time. You knew these people had some kind of elaborate plan going on.

"Okay bu-" Ed starts, only to be cut off by the girl. Her expression has changed, and you can see her trying to hold back emotions, a mental battle.

"I said no questions." She stated firmly.

You simply didn't have any questions. So you can only stare at her with that probably really weird looking expression of conflicting emotions on your face. She looks at you right back.

Actually, you did. You wanted to know where she got all of this information.

"I can't understand what your face is trying to say, (Y/N)." The girl says with a serious face on. You snap out of your trance.

"Oh, yeah... Um." You stutter. After that, the room falls into an awkward silence, and you look away from the two people. You can feel eyes on you, though, burning holes into you. When you finally can't stand the silence anymore, you look back to Ed, who, you found, is staring at you, a glint of something in his eyes.

"Oka-" You try for something that would lighten the gloomy mood, but you are cut off when Ed's eyes travel up, and you meet awkwardly with his golden eyes, which are shining. You feel your face heating up with warm blood and your heart thump erratically, but you can't look away. It's only when something blocks your view do you come back to reality.

"Hey!" You whisper-yell. There's a hand blocking your sight and you look up to see the girl, who is smirking at you.

"I ship it." She mouths to you. You blush a bit but frown defiantly and push her hand away.

You swing your legs over the side of the bed, savoring the feeling of being able to get up and not be dizzy or feel sick anymore. You stand up.

"Urrghhh. It's really annoying not being able to leave. What the heck are they keeping me here for, anyways?"

Ed stretches and yawns as if nothing had happened. "I don't know. Let's go ask if you can be discharged from this place."

The girl turns towards the door. "Good idea. Why don't you call her here? I don't think Ms. (L/N) here is allowed to leave this room yet."

You frown at her. "You're ruining the point." You point out.

"Yeah." Your gaze swivels to Ed. "I'm tired of not being able to h-"

He cuts himself off. You raise an eyebrow as Ed turns a bright red and his eyes widen. "H...?"

"-hh... Uh... H-hear your voice! Yeah!"

Curiosity fills your mind, and you wonder what he was about to say. "Yeah..." You whisper. "Except I don't have a voice..."

Ed freezes completely, causing you to chuckle silently. The girl laughs a bit. Ed looks at the two of you and turns even redder than before.

"Th-that's not what I meant! I-I actually wante-"

"Yeah right, Ed." You say sarcastically. Ed starts flailing his arms.

"No, really, I-"

"No protesting. We all know that yo-"

The door opens abruptly and slams against the wall, causing the three of you to immediately quiet down.

"Oh~!"

You know that voice. You turn towards the door, and your suspicious are confirmed. It's the doctor.

"What a surprise!" He continues. "Ms. (L/N) Mr. Elric are here. And you too!" His brown (I forgot what color they're supposed to be) eyes land on the girl at the last sentence, making you frown.

"You know her?"

The doctor smirks. "I see she hasn-"

Suddenly the girl is on him, covering his mouth with her hand and strangling him. Despite that, the same arrogant glint is in his eyes.

"Don't you dare say one more word. You promised." She growls angrily.

You feel a wave of confusion and curiosity pass over you.

What is happening?

Your eyes flicker back and forth between the two figures, trying to understand. The girl gets off the man cautiously, watching his every move.

"If you-"

The doctor starts laughing.

"What?" Ed says, probably as confused as you are.

The girl is staring at him in contempt, making you wonder how they knew each other.

The doctor is laughing evilly, in a way you expected.

You're looking back and forth between the girl who looked like you and the doctor with the neon green watch trying to figure out what is happening.
