Chapter Three

☹️ THE PRIME SUSPECT ☹️

Adele got to the girls hostel with the help of one of the teachers.

She used the ID card that she found in the principal's office or locate her room.

She stood in front of a door with number 28 bodly written on it. Confirming it with her ID, she knocked on the door.

A skinny girl with blond hair opened the door almost immediately.

The girl gave Adele a questioning look.

"Uh mm, I'm your roommate." Adele told her.

"Oh! Come on in." The girl flung the door wide open and stepped aside for Adele to enter.

"So which of the bed is mine?" Adele asked.

"The well made one." The skinny girl replied bluntly.

Adele surveyed the spacious room. Two beds opposite each other.

A dressing table, a standing mirror beside each bed and Two wall wardrobe.

"Great." Adele said and started unpacking.

"I'm Suzie." The skinny girl said.

"Who cares." Adele yelled out as she lay on the bed even without a shower.

She was still in shock that she tried convincing herself that she was only hallucinating.

A loud noise from the speaker in their room woke Adele up from sleep.

After yawning and stretching,she noticed that her roommate was with her phone.

She decided to apologise for earlier and asked her what information was passed.

"What was the noise all about ?"

" There'll be an announcement in the next thirty minutes." Suzie replied without dropping her phone.

"About what?"

"Why not go ask the god-damned bitch that passed the information." Suzie shot her a killer look.

"Chill." Adele raised both her hands in defeat.

"I'm sorry for being a jerk earlier."

"Who cares about you apology anyway."

"I saw a dead body. I didn't know how to react." Adele explained

"Awwn cute." She finally stare at Adele for a while.

" Wait you're serious about the dead body thingy?" Suzie froze.

" Yeah. The principal was murder.

Adele phone rang and she picked it up.

"Hi Dad." She said.

"How you doing princess?"

" Alright."

"I'm sorry I couldn't make it today."

"Like always." Adele replied

"Not say such."

" Yeah. It's always been like that. And just so you know it's your fault that mummy died." She replied and hung up.

Adele and Suzie left for the announcement hall.

Lucky for them, they found two vacant chairs at the back.

They were told about the murder and an investigation is ongoing.

"A killer is on the loose, we need your help and cooperation in order to find the culprit." The well built detective said.

They had dinner and want to their dormitory.

Adele was reading a novel while Suzie was busy with her phone when they heard a knock.

"Who's there?" Suzie shouted from her bed.

"Someone you don't wanna keep waiting." The voice replied calmly.

The man got in after Suzie opened the door.

"Detective." Adele said instantly recognizing him.

"I'm detective Dalisay." He extended his hands for a shake.

"How can we help you?" Suzie took his hands.

"I'm here to ask Ms Adele Berg a few questions."

"Sure. What is it?" Adele sat down on the bed and the detective sat on Suzie's bed.

" You found the principal's body right?'

"Yeah I did."

"In my research, you're s new student here. What was your reaction when you're told you'd be studying here?

" I was really furious because I didn't have to." Adele replied calmly.

"Tell me why?"

"Because we can still move on after my mummy's death. But my dad insisted on coming here. To this god-damned place."

"And you got really furious and killed the principal in order to get back at your daddy right?"

" Wait! What?" Adele stood up.

"That's right."

"It's not true." She panicked

"You killed him so you'd be withdrawn from the school right?"

" I did no such thing." Adele said.

"I'd get back to you. Thanks for your time Ms Adele Berg." The detective said and walked out.

Adele broke into tears as the detective left. She felt used.

" Hey it's fine." Suzie hugged her.

Classes started the next day. They both got dressed.

The white shirt and purple knee length skirt fit Adele so well exposing her straight legs.

The purple went with her sea blue eyes.

She let her long, curly back hair fall across her shoulders.

She wore a leather black boots to match with her bag pack

They had breakfast which was brought to them in their dorm and left for classes.

The class was filled with numerous students when they got in.

She spotted Laurenzo and waved at him.

He replied with a weak smile and walked away to some group of guys.

'strange.' Adele thought

The first class was English. The teacher frist of all, adviced them to be careful.

Adele heard a whisper and turned only to see Olive smiling broadly and waving at her.

She waved back and to her utmost surprise, Oliver smiled and waved too.

"I guess he's not always a jerk." She whispered under her breath and smiled.

The teacher introduced herself as Mrs Trina Smith and asked the class to introduce themselves in turns.

The introduction was interrupted by the detective who barged into the class insisting on talking to Adele and Laurenzo.

The teacher reluctantly agreed after they had an agreement of bringing them back.

They went together to the detective to the principal's office and they were told to sir down.

"The CCTV footage shows you hugging some guy after Laurenzo went to get help." The detective said.

"What?" She asked

Adele heart skipped a beat. As she realized there was a CCTV camera there.

She regretted withholding that piece of information earlier on to the detective.

Now she'd be a suspect in the case she knows nothing about.

" I didn't." She replied calmly.

"You urged him to go alone to give you alone time with you acomplist right?"

" Hell no."

" Why didn't you guys go together?" The detective insisted.

" I insisted on going alone." Enzo replied.

"And why?"

" Wasn't it obvious that it was a shock to both of us? At Least mine wasn't they bad." He said.

" Or are you also her acomplist?" He directed the question to Laurenzo.

" Stop this bullshit men."

" You both can leave now." He said.

Adele didn't really pay attention in the classes later on.

She was deep in thought and scared.

"You seemed troubled." Oliver said after they were done with classes.

"And what do you care?" She Snapped at him.

"I'm checking out on my cousin." He replied.

" Whatever." She replied and started walking away.

"Laurenzo is not a person you wanna be friends with." Oliver said.

"Awwn." She walked away to her dormitory.

As she got to her room, she lay on her bed remenincing about the happy moments with her mom.

She missed those happy days when her family was complete and happy.

She missed those day her dad had time for her and her mom.

She missed those days when he was work at a park.

But after he got a job at the real estate company, he barely had time for them.

He was on a business trip even when her mom was diagnosed cancer of the blood and bone marrow.

Before the his trip, he had a fight with her mom and threatened a divorce.

He stayed for a couple of months promising he'd come home.

Her mom on the other hand refused a transplant.

He came eventually, when he heard the news about her death.

He choose work over them and now she's gonna choose.

She badly wanted to be with her mom again so she made a great decision.

A decision she can't turn back from.
