The ward they'd been directed to was a shared one. It was a pinched space that just about managed to secure four beds, two to a side, creating a square. Curtains dangled on rails, the only thing resembling privacy, but all four were open.

Two beds were empty. One had an old man with a mummy-like head dressing on, and the other held . . . Adam.

Which was what he wanted, but as soon as his eyes zeroed in on the figure, fleeing was the only thing on his mind. He turned to leave, but Angel's arm struck out, blocking his way.
