The Cold Silence

As the proctor announced,

"Now please could Sotaru from iwa and Hashiro hyuga from konoha come down to the arena for the second match!"

Following the suna jounin's instructions Sotaru and Hashiro hyuga walked down from the contenders box to the middle of the large arena and stood face to face with each other gauging each other.

Meanwhile the audience looked down in anticipation and the many people had already started to make the bets, with most of the people placing their bets on the stoic Hashiro hyuga since the hyuga clan powress was pretty widespread all over the elemental nations.

Meanwhile Ryu was simply looking down at hyuga with anticipation since he had never been in combat with a hyuga and was somewhat interested in knowing their abilities.

Of course Ryu knew about the hyuga clan's byakugan and the deadly gentle fist taijutsu style but many things about the hyuga clan techniques were not disclosed to the public.

Since Hashiro was from the main branch of the hyuga clan by the absence of the curse seal on the forehead, he was looking forward to see some of the main branch special techniques of the hyuga clan.

Perhaps it could give him some ideas about creating a personal jutsu especially for himself.

Just then the proctor shouted before jumping to the corner of the arena,

"Hajime!"

"Doton: Earth Dragon Bullet"

Just as the match was started the iwa genin quickly went through handseals and a a mud dragon head popped up from the ground and shooted mud balls at the hyuga who calmly made a ram sign and said,

"Byakugan!"

And the viens around the hyuga's eyes became prominent showing the activation of the byakugan dojutsu and with the 360° vision the hyuga swiftly evaded the mud balls before trying to close in on the iwa genin and engage in a taijutsu battle which was obviously the hyuga clan's most dangerous trait.

As Ryu simply watched from the contenders box and took notice of every detail of both the genin's fighting style.

After a couple of minutes of the iwa genin spewing earth style ninjutsu at the hyuga who was chasing him around the arena, the iwa genin already had some tenketsu closed before the hyuga closed in completely and used the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms to seal the victory for konoha, as the proctor announced,

"The winner is Hashiro hyuga from konoha!"

As the audience roared in applause as they were very much satisfied with all the flashy ninjutsu and infamous gentle fist of the hyuga clan with many of them who had placed their bets on Hashiro winning money.

As the medic nins removed the unconscious Sotaru from the ground and took the iwa genin to the hospital on a stretcher.

Ryu just looked at the hyuga with a small amount of disappointment in his eyes as Hashiro hadn't shown any special hyuga techniques which he hadn't known about before.

Seeing the arena cleared the proctor announced,

"Now would Saizan from mizu and Daisuke from suna please come down to arena for the third match"

Now this caught Ryu's attention as he noticed Hashiro walk back into the contenders box while the sanbi jinchuriki Saizan and the suna genin Daisuke walked to the the middle of the arena as betting process again started, the proctor loudly announced,

"Hajime!"

Immediately Daisuke threw a couple shurikens at Saizan who calmly took out his club from his back and deflected the incoming shurikens before appearing at Daisuke's side and swung the club at the suna genin who was launched towards the wall fo the arena all while Ryu carefully analysed Saizan's fighting style.

Just after two minutes of Saizan thrashing Daisuke who had tried to use wind ninjutsu and everything he knew, Saizan moved through handseals and said,

"Suiton: Cold Sky Water Attack"

And from the mouth shooted numerous amount of extremely large jets of water which slammed into the already wounded Daisuke who was launched into the arena wall before dropping to ground unconscious with blood coming out from the mouth, nose and ears.

From what Ryu could tell the water justu that Saizan had just used was a B rank technique but he already knew that the sanbi jinchuriki would have high water affinity and humongous amount of chakra so it wasn't nothing special to him.

As the medics rushed to wounded Daisuke who was in critical condition and took him to the hospital, the proctor announced,

"The winner of the third match is Saizan from mizu"

As the audience gave a small round of applause for Saizan which was obvious since most of the people in audience were from suna and seeing a suna shinobi beaten to pulp they didn't have a reason to celebrate not say that many had placed their bets on Daisuke to win the match and hence had lost quite a lot of money.

As Saizan walked back upto the contenders box the proctor immediately fixed the damage to arena walls using earth style ninjutsu before announcing loudly,

"Now could Ryu uchiha from konoha and Zaku from kumo please come down to arena"

Hearing his name being called out he simply started to walk towards the centre of the arena along the kumo genin Zaku.

Upon arriving at the centre of the the arena he stood face to face with his opponent with teh contenders box in front of him and then took a moment to look at the crowd and saw most of the civilians and few shinobi were giving pitying looks.

What he saw didn't suprise him since he had been always underestimated due to his young age but most of the time it had worked to his advantage.

Up in the stands the merchants and rich civilians had already placed their bets on Zaku as nobody expected for Ryu to win the match when he was facing a far more experienced opponent.

As Ryu looked at Zaku with a stoic expression on his face and observed his opponent, Zaku was a dark skinned 14-15 years old boy with spiky blonde hair and black eyes, Zaku wore the traditional kumo shinobi attire and had a strapped katana on the the back. Just then Ryu saw Zaku look at him up and down and state with a arrogant grin,

"Listem kid just surrender, I don't know you made it to the finals but this isn't a place for kids"

Hearing this Ryu just ignored the kumo genin, and his action caused Zaku to rile up with anger evident on the face and say,

"Alright! looks like you want a good beating I have no problem to give it to you"

Again he ignored the loudmouth and arrogant kumo genin who started to fume even more while gritting his teeths in boiling anger.

Seeing that this was going nowhere the suna jounin proctor just sighed and shook his head before saying,

"Alright enough! Hajime!"

Just as the proctor announced the begining of the match and jumped back to the sideline, Zaku grinned widely and unsheathed his katana and was just about to move towards Ryu, but before Zaku could do anything Ryu vanished from his spot and immediately appeared a couple distance behind Zaku and started to calmly walk towards the entrance of the contenders box.

Now Ryu's actions had confused the civilians and a lot of shinobis in the stands and just as the proctor was question Ryu, a soft *ching* sound reached everyone's ears.

Upon looking at the source of the sound, they saw a still Zaku standing in the same place but with a a shocked look in his eyes.

Just then Zaku's katana broke cleanly into two as the broken piece fell to the ground and a thin red line appeared at Zaku's neck before the kumo genin's head rolled out to the ground making the audience gasp loudly in horror.

Zaku's body fell to the ground with blood pooling the ground from the neck of the now deceased kumo genin whose eyes still had expression of horror and shock in them.

Seeing the brutal killing of the kumo genin that too by a six years old boy who should be in the academy not participating in the chunin exams.

Many civilians were horrified and a few even emptied their stomachs while the most of the shinobi were in shock and confusion since they couldn't comprehend what had happened in a blink of eye.

Meanwhile the high ranking shinobis and the five kages sitting in the kage box knew exactly what had happened, just as proctor had started the match Ryu had taken kunai and coated it with dense wind chakra before utilising the shunshin jutsu to quickly decapitate Zaku.

While they knew what had transpired they couldn't help but be shocked at revelation of a six years old boy having this speed and ruthlessness.

Meanwhile the proctor just looked at Zaku's dead body and thought in horror,

'Thag could've easily been me, I couldn't even see him move'

Before the proctor regained his senses and announced,

"The winner is Uchiha Ryu of konoha!"

But this didn't seem to have any effect on the audience who remained deadly silent looking at Zaku's bloody dead body which was quickly taken away by the medic nins of suna.

As Ryu calmly walked back into the contenders box he saw every contestant looking at him with caution and fear except for the sanbi Jinchuriki who just looked at him stoically, he just ignored the looks.

Them he walked past a terrified Fugaku who was sweating profusely having watched the merciless murder of the kumo genin and Ryu hadn't even used the sharingan which was supposed to be an uchihas greatest strength in combat.

Ryu just shook his head at Fugaku's behaviour and let out a small scoff not liking how weak the elder uchiha was acting since in his view brutal deaths were something a competent shinobi should be accustomed to.

So as for now he just leaned against against the wall closing his eyes waiting for his next match which he hoped would be more eventful than the former one.
