I was heading down to breakfast when someone knocked at the door. I opened it to find Melanie standing with her back to me. God, what did she want? Aren’t we done with this beast?

/"Ryder! Someone or something is here!/"

Ryder came into the living room with Evan and Frisco.

/"Why did you stop me from fighting Ryanne for the last piece of bacon?/" Ryder asked.

I stepped aside to show Melanie.

/"Melanie?/"

She turned around, and our jaws dropped.

/"Hello, Ryder. Are you surprised to see me?/"

/"There’s a name for it: surprise,/" I said.

I pointed at her swollen belly.

/"Oh, this? Yeah, it was a bit of surprise when I found out myself./"

She rubbed her belly as we stared at it, shocked.

I looked at Ryder.

/"Good luck explaining this situation to Dad./"

He looked at me, then he fell backward, passing out from shock.
