Chapter 44

James looks at Angelo with his eyes widened before glaring at Ozpin, who smugly sips his coffee. He ordered his team to search for Angelo, and he is already in Ozpin's pocket? James really wants to tell Ozpin that he searches for Angelo first but decides not to do that. He is not a child.

"You must be the White Wolf, right? Angelo de la Luna?"

"That's right, sir."

"Call me James. You are not one of my soldiers. Anyway, Ozpin said something about you wanting to show me something?"

"That is right. Please look at this."

Angelo passes him a stack of paper. Angelo also gives another stack of paper to the scientist James brings with him here. They read it for a few minutes, and Angelo can see the same shocked expression Ozpin had the other day.

After a few more seconds, James Ironwood looks at Angelo right in the eyes before saying.

"Let me tell you something, if you are able to make this thing and prove to me that this is working, Atlas will be your ally up to your ninth-generation under you."

"You can test this yourself. I brought the item with me."

Angelo places a small device on the table in front of James. He then takes another device from his pocket and starts to press a button on it. A second later, the device that looks like a medallion starts to change into a watch that attaches itself around his arm.

"This device will take three forms. The first one is a watch, the second only is a ring, and the last one is an earring. Press the button, and it will automatically attach itself to you."

"Hmmm. That is really good, but I want to make sure it is working."

"Then we should go into the training arena."

"Of course. Ozpin? Do you mind?"

Ozpin shakes his head and says.

"Of course not. Please go to the K section of the tower. There should be a fighting droid you can use as a dummy."

"Good! Come on. Time is money."

~A few minutes later~

Angelo already attached the shield to the droid in the middle of the room and walked away from it. He then looks at James, who takes out his gun and points it at the droid.

"First test! Low attack power. Please shoot the droid in three… two… one… Fire!"

James fired his gun, and the bullet hit the droid right on the head. However, a light blue shield appears to block the bullet instead of getting damaged.

"As you can see, the shield not only did not use any dust, it was also able to block an attack automatically, just like an aura. However, unlike an aura, this will not attract Grimm."

"Yes. However, this is only a low-level attack. What about high-level attacks?"

"Let's try it!"

James nods his head and combines both of his handguns into a hand cannon. The gun shines for a little bit before suddenly it fires a laser beam that flies toward the droid. An explosion happens when the laser beam hits the droid.

A few seconds later, the dust disappears, and they can see the droid still standing, but the shield cracked but still holding up.

"The shield can hold against that attack. While it is cracked from such force, it still stands and gives a huge chance for any person to run away from the Grimm attacking them."

James nodded his head before saying.

"How do you recharge the shield? Do we need something?"

"Yes. You can do two things! The first one is the slowest method but the most useful when you are outside. You just place it in the place where there is sunlight. This device can be powered by solar energy. However, because of the size of this device, I cannot make a stronger solar energy absorption device to make the recharging faster."

"That is really useful for a field operator. What about the other method?"

"Recharging station. Ozpin is kind enough to let me connect the recharging station to the outside solar panel. Come."

James and the others follow Angelo to the corner of the training arena, where there are five tubes with a small pedestal inside. Angelo takes out his portable shield generator and places it on the pedestal.

When he places the device on the pedestal, a hologram appears on the surface of the tube. It was a battery charging symbol.

"As you can see, my shield is currently at full capacity because it was never used. This method is the fastest way to charge the device, but it cannot be taken out to the field because not only is the machine rather large but also heavy."

"Yeah. I can understand the reason why you cannot use this method in the field. It is not practical. However, it can be used if we bring a transport vehicle or create a base in the middle of the enemy territory."

"Yeah, sure. You can do that. Anyway, not only is the material used to make this device rather cheap, but it is also quick to build."

James thinks about it for a few seconds, nodding his head, and says.

"Angelo de la Luna, we will try to build this device ourselves. If it comes back positive, we will start the negotiation about the patent and royalty for this."

Angelo smiles a little and shakes the General's hand. He did not know that his invention just gave him a massive amount of money and resources for him to complete his project.
