Conversing with the Rose

"You have silver eyes"

Daemon was left a bit stuck; he didn't really know how to respond to this seemingly simple statement that somehow seemed to be awfully profound when Summer said. Deciding the best way to deal with and open a dialogue was to play it off.

With this in mind he let a playful teasing smile flash across his face before letting out a fake gasp and saying. "Strange I never noticed. Did you know you also have silver." His eyes were glowing with mirth as he responded to her initial comment jokingly. Summer let out a small half sob, half laugh as her shoulders shook at the ridiculous yet humorous response before quickly panicking and placing a hand to her stomach her eyes brimming with confusion at her lack of injuries.

Slowly she stood up and began to inspect her body for any of the injuries she knew she had received, yet she found none. Daemon gave a light cough to gain her attention drawing her from he panic inspection.

"You won't find any injuries I have healed all of them with my semblance. Also my name is Daemon Nix-Ebon I lived in a small settlement South West of here. And you are?"

Summer suddenly flinched "Your semblance!" she shouted causing Daemon to arch an eyebrow "but your like eight or some right!" She trailed off seeing the raised eyebrow and Daemon growing irritation before giving a light cough into her hand and continuing "Sorry I got a bit carried away, my name is Summer Rose, I am a huntress who lives in Patch."

Daemon gave an agreeable nod of his head before extending his right hand. "Its okay and it is a pleasure to meet you" Suddenly Summer started to shake before surprising Daemon by lunging forward wrapping her arms around him as she picked him up in a massive bear hug excitedly shaking him side to side as she exclaimed "Your so adorable and polite and cute. Your acting like a mini adult." At this Daemon tilted his head back and stared at Summer with a dead pan look before sarcastically remarking "Like you then?" causing Summer too drop him to the ground while a dark shadow hung over her and an image of an arrow with the word "short" stuck her in the chest. She kneel drop point the ground muttering to herself "I can help that I'm short".

Daemon felt that they were getting further away from the real topic causing him tilt his head and with a fake curious look on his face asked "Summer did you say that you surname was Rose?". This caused Summer to look at him with a curious and amused look before replying "Yes my surname is indeed Rose. Why?" Daemon responded and said with a childlike look of excitement in his tone and on his face. "So your a silver eyed warrior like me?" Summers head turned to him so fast and suddenly that he worried she would get whiplash before stuttering. "Wha wha WHAT? What did you just say? Where did you hear that name? Only a select number of people know that name and what it means! So how do you?"

Daemon just tilted his head with an innocent look and said "My grandfather told me about it. He explained the history behind our eyes, their powers and how they originally came to be. Apparently the Ebon's as are the history keeper amongst the silver eyed warrior clans. He explained how only seven of the families actually remain today. Do you know our history if not I can tell you?"

Summer just that there in shock at what she just heard. The only reason she knew anything similar was because of Oz who had explained it to her when he had told her about the nature of her silver eyes. With this in mind she looked at Daemon who was awaiting and answer from her. She couldn't even speak so she just gave him a slight nod of her head in agreement to his question. Daemon seeing the affirmative nature of her answer began to start before asking Summer "Summer do you know the story of the brother Gods and how they came to be from the original one entity?" Summer gave another nod so he started his explanation.

"After the twin gods came into being they began to roam together in the empty nothingness before they after some time grew bored of it and began to think of ways to alleviate their boredom. With this in mind they decided to start an experiment. This experiment was the creation of Remnant.

With their magic they first created the world that we reside upon. After that they created the oceans and seas, the stars, sky and the celestial bodies that hang in the sky. They created the mountains and deep abysses before realising something was missing. Life.

Each god decided that they would create their own form of life and would make one in their image. The God of Darkness created the first Grimm. A massive black dragon created in his own image, this was dragon was Alduin. Now he created all of kinds of monstrosities in order to serve his first creation. However being created only from the darkness and magic they lacked any light or soul which is why the despise and hunt humanity especially those with aura so intently.

The God of Light however created all the creatures the creatures that roam the land, sea and skies. He created fish and other aquatic lifeforms in order to fill the sea. He created birds of all kinds to rule over the sky. Finally he created all manner of insect, mammal and other creature to roam the lands and divide it as it suited them.

However, neither of the brother gods were completely satisfied with their own creations so they came together to create their perfect creature, they bestowed it with magic like their own, with a light that became their soul and darkness that provided them with emotion and direction. The creature that made as perfect balance were called humans. Satisfied with what they had created they created a whole race to place upon their world. While the first iteration of mankind had great magically powers that let them build great monuments and wield the elements and bend them to their will they did not yet have the ability use aura.

For a while the world was peaceful and united until one day the King of the land we now know as Vale was killed. His wife the queen in her sorrow petitioned the brother gods for them to return him to her and they refused. The Queen raged at the refusal given to her and started to gather humanity under her own banner and led them into the gods' own domain in order to overthrow them. The queen and the collective mass of humanity that she had led against the gods gather the magic that had been granted to them and conjured as a great number of spells in order to bombard the brother gods. The God of Darkness was a petty creature and in his anger at the experiment he had created turning against him he gather the magic fired at them and gathered it all before using it against the gather mass of humanity shattering them and much of the land. As a punishment they tore magic from the race of men and shattered their souls in doing so.

Finally in his anger the God of Darkness left Remnant, his failed experiment, and in a final petty retaliation broke the moon apart, shattering it. The God of Light however was not as cruel and petty as his brother and instead gave humanity a final chance. He gave them four relics that when the time came that humankind had redeemed themselves they could summon back the brothers gods. However if the gods were made to reappear before that they would destroy their failed creation completely. The God of Light also brought back the dead king and cursed him to forever be reborn and gave him the mission to now reunite the broken remnants of humanity as they once had been.

However while the vast majority of humanity had marched against the gods under the foolish Queen's banner twenty-three families sheltered together refusing to march against the gods remaining loyal to their creators. The god of light rewarded these families for their loyalty by bestowing upon them the silver eyes with which they could fight his brother's monstrous creations. These twenty-three families became known as the silver eyed warriors.

After this event humanity sheltered and nursed it wounds in hiding as they learnt to fight the grimm with dust that had been formed from the broken pieces of the moon that fallen to the earth. They also learnt to use their soul that had been able to leak out of the body to empower themselves and fight, this was became known as aura. The small sparks of magic that remained in the gap in the soul began to take on unique forms using power from the rest of the soul in an attempt to plug the cracks that remained, these later became known as semblances. Humanity however later re-emerged from their hiding followed by a new race called the faunus almost identical to human with the exception of the animal features that they bore.

Over the course of history all but five of the twenty-three silver-eyed warrior families have died according to my grandfather. One of these families was the Rose clan with the Ebon being another. Since the first generation of the silver eyed warriors my family have kept the record of history and all its happenings in a tome, a magical relic created by the first Ebon, that has been passed down to each generation.

The silver eyed warriors are hated for the danger they possess to the grimm and for the death of the first of their kind, the great dragon Alduin, who died at the silver eyed warriors' hands. The greatest of the silver eyed warriors who came from the Seraph family was the one to finally destroy him not by encasing him in stone but by fully petrifying him and turning him fully to stone and sacrificing his life in doing so. The power to disintegrate weaker grim has only appeared in the last few generations but on the older stronger grim the best that could be managed was trapping in them stone." This was something he had only after flicking through the codex to see if his grandfather had missed any information on the abilities of the silver eyes. He had discovered the ability recorded but only recently around the time of his great-great grandfather had ability actually appeared and didn't appear to work on anything stronger than alpha beowolf making only really useful of crowd control. It was also significantly more taxing on the use than just entrapping the grimm

Daemon took a deep breath here as he looked at Summer who was struggling to digest all of the information. She had already know most of it from Ozpin who had once been the first king of the Vale, Ozma, and as such she knew that the boy had only spoken the truth making it even harder for her to fully comprehend it all. It explained so much, it answered questions that she didn't even realise she had. She then her him continued in a soft sad voice that she struggled to hear. "My grandfather talk me this a little over a week ago right before he died."

Summer looked at the boy seemed to upset remerging his grandfather and asked "What about your parents?". This only caused Daemon to lower his head and mutter "They died when I was three. We lived in a settlement near here and they died taking out a large hoard of grimm." This caused Summer to quickly wrap him in a hug and ask "Daemon. How about the rest of your village? Have you got someone who would take care of you?" Daemon shook his head his head "They all left for Vacuo on a bullhead a few days ago." Summer looked at him in surprise and then gently questioned "Daemon, why didn't you leave with them? Why stay here?"

Daemon looked her in the eye with a small sad smile upon his lips as he whispered "I don't know. My guts told me I had to stay. That there was a reason I didn't know that made me feel compelled to stay. It was what led me to the clearing that you and the scorpion man fought in." Hearing all this Summer could only hide her shock before Daemon continued with a slightly brighter smile "I did however find Lilith,", Summer watched as he picked up the small red and black wolf pup from the ground between his legs and holding her to his chest, "by staying behind as well as being able to find you." Summer examined the little puppy in his arms and asked "Does she have aura?" This drew a nod from Daemon as he explained "I actually awakened it for her and we have formed a bond. Before you ask no I don't know how I did it my mind blanked and then the words just popped into my mind and I repeated them." Summer with a look of curiosity asked "Do you remember the words you used by any chance?" causing Daemon to tilt his head as he attempted to remember the chant he had used.

Daemon then slowly began to recite the chant "For it is in passing that we come to understand our own being. It is through this we come to understand our own paths, ever branching and filled with peril. It is through this journey that we rise beyond our limits as we seek the victory promised. May not time not weaken you or death bind you. With this I release your soul and share your burden as I invite you to join this journey by my side. That is the chant I used."

Summered mulled it over in her mind as she realised that the boy unconsciously considered life as a journey, an adventure that could have a limitless amount of endings. He saw his journey as one that would lead to greatness, this did not however mean that he did not recognise the danger of this path no in fact he seemed to welcome the danger that would hound him on this path, a journey that would see him immortalised like the heroes of old. This sudden in depth understanding of the young brought a smile to her face as she realised his ambition and made a decision in her mind.

She asked gently "Daemon what do you intend to do now? Do you have a plan?" Hearing this a strange look appeared in Daemon's eyes as he paused before shaking his head in response to woman's question. A soft simile slowly spread across her lips as she then proposed the idea she had just had "How about i adopt you? You can come back to Patch and live with me and my family. We have a spare room. Also how old are you eight, nine." Daemon quickly smiled and said "Five and a half." causing Summer to look taken aback before laughing and continuing "That's brilliant my daughter Ruby is four and a half while my step daughter Yang is 6 and turning seven in a few months. So how about it?"

Daemon began to think about the offer in his head. He was too young to really go off on his own and right now he was struggling to work out a way of the Nameless continent. He did have money but he was unsure as to whether he would be able to buy a house of anything similar and it maybe difficult to get all the paperwork done for entering a school. Thankfully, he had found his birth certificate when he had looted the house before he left. He finally decided he would tell Summer about his two semblances and if she was still willing to take him i he would go with her.

"Summer, before I accept I have to tell you something. I have two semblances. One I call Dragons fire that allows me use fires and control their temperature to freeze or burn things as well as form a sort of dragon avatar using my fire. I also found out tonight that I could use it to heal other when I used it to heal you early by accident. The other one is called Symbolic Archive that lets me use different types of seals, symbols and glyphs to make different effects. It can be used to give items new properties or enchantments or seal items into something to make easier to carry. For example, my bracelet has a massive storage space in that I can put items into and draw them out of. I can also key them to others so that they can use them with their own aura. Anyway, I wanted to tell you before accepting so that you wouldn't be surprised at a later date if I were to go with you."

Summer had gone still and Daemon though she might of changed her mind and wondered why he had trusted Merlin's word and told her everything. Until, Summer just tilted her head and asked "Why would that change my mind?" before her eyes then sparkled and she quickly grabbed him with her silver eyes sparkling "You will have to show me this symbolic archive later and what it can do. Can you make a sword set on fire, can you make it shoot over energy slashes, can it make it invincible, can you make it sharper so it through anything or maybe make a make it so a normal bullet exploding or" That was fair she got before Daemon cut off her rapid fire questioning replying "Sure, probably, I don't know but I can use an aura technique to do that, Not truly invincible but pretty much, yes and maybe, we will try that last one later." Summer let out an ear piercing squeal of delight before wrapping Daemon in a tight bear hug causing Lilith who was his arms to squawk in protest as she squished between the two as Summer started to rapidly speak "We are going to have so much together. I have decided you are coming with me whether you want to or not now. Just think of all the cool things that we could make together."

Rather than argue Daemon just gave a long suffering sigh as he wondered what he gotten himself into now before a gentle simile appeared on his face as he thought 'Well at least it will be fun and I will have a family again." Suddenly Summer spoke up and said "Daemon by the way I am not going to ask any questions about anything you have done or plan to do unless you tell me. Also I spotted your arrow and it didn't appear normal if anyone asks about materials you say your family found them in the grimmlands and that you have all of it. And don't worry I am not going to do anything to endanger you. You have saved my life and are going to become part of my family." Having said all of this she laid a gentle kiss on his forehead as she said "Me and Tai did always want a boy as well. I'm sure that e wont complain on missing all the sleepless night and diaper changes." Both Summer and Daemon let out a gentle laugh at this idea before Summer pulled back from the hug and said "Also don't worry about Lilith she can come with us. We already have a small corgi puppy with aura called Zwei. Maybe they can be friends." To which Lilith seemed to give a happy bark of agreement seemingly excited at the idea of a new canine friend.

"So Daemon, Lilith welcome to the family. Ruby and Yang are going to love you two. Tai as well once he complains at me for adopting you without asking first but what are going to do. He would agree and anyway so he will get over it."

Summer the looked up at the sky and said "We should get moving, a bullhead is meant to pick me up from the coast at dawn and it is almost midnight. It will take about four hours to walk there as well." Summer then stood and looked around for her poleaxe to which Daemon summoned it from his inventory and passed it to her. "Sorry, I stored it in my bracelet when I moved you." Summer just shook her head passed it back to him asking him to look after it as she would be able to move faster without the added weight.

With this done the two set off on the long journey towards the coast. The two of them speaking about all kinds of things. Summer told him stories of Ruby getting caught with an empty cookie pot at the age of three sitting in the middle of the floor surrounded by crumbs and pieces of cookie. He told her about his grandfather and his training with him to which Summer told him about her old team STQR and about all of there adventures as well as how one day Qrow had come to class wearing a skirt. Daemon then told him a story about his father that he read from within his mothers journal of how his father had gone to his initiation in a full blown dress after believing his grandfather on his father's side who had told him it was a family tradition and how he had foolishly believed it and how his grandfather had laughed for hours when he had heard what his son had done not having expected him to actually do it.

Another amusing story Summer told him was of a more recent event only days before she had left to come on this mission. Tai had gone into Vale to do some shopping leaving Summer with the kids. Yang had gone to her room to her room to watch videos on hair cate on her scroll while Ruby had stayed with Summer , playing on Summer's scroll while she had busied herself with housework. Suddenly, her scroll started ringing in Ruby's hands as she saw it was Oz calling him and grabbed the scroll from Ruby's hands. She had answered and hearing how important it was she had gone to her bedroom to talk to him leaving Ruby who had be asking for cookies behind her. When she had emerged from her room about forty minutes later she had looked and found Ruby in the kitchen. There were cupboard doors open with thing strewn everywhere, flour covered every surface along with butter smears. Finally room stood in the centre of it all covered in flour with what looked like a mangled pile of cookie dough made of eighty percent chocolate on the counter in front of her as she stood on a step ladder Tai had brought her. She had apparently looked at Summer with a huge grin and told her that there not cookies in the jar so she was going make them all some. She had been dying with laughter as she told this story to Daemon as well as admitting how horrified she had been at the time to Daemon .

The exchange of stories continued for hours until they finally reached the coast just as dawn broke. They saw a bullhead resting on a cliff nearby and made their over to it where the driver called out them. "You a Miss Summer Rose?" to which Summer pulled out a hunter license from her cloak and showed it to the pilot who inspected it and handed it back. Summer then looked at the pilot and gestured to Daemon eho was holding Lilith and after seeing the unsure look on the pilots face said "This young man and wolf pup are with me.". The man merely nodded and gestured for them to board the bullhead.

Half an hour later after a number of checks the bullhead took off and he looked out the window at the continent that had been his home up until now and thought. 'I guess this is a new chapter in my journey' as he hugged Lilith close to his chest and let out a sigh before gazing at Summer with a slight smile causing Summer to smile back at him.

He finally left the Grimmlands. His adventure had finally truly began.

(So Daemon has been adopted and has even managed to finally leave the grimmlands. Next chapter he will meet Summers family and see patch. He will also no doubt get up to some trouble. I currently only have an idea for around five chapters before I do a time skip to the start of Beacon.
