46 Chapter 44

"How do you know about that title!?" Miko screamed in panic as she struck the green shield around Vivian.

The shield formed a crack at the point of contact. A small frown appeared on Vivian's face appeared before it disappeared.

"It seems you're finally getting serious." She said as the crack disappeared, regaining its former strength.

"I asked you a question. How do you know about that title!?" Miko asked as she increased the intensity of her attacks.

She dodged a wave of solid air that came her way, pushing the sword towards the Vivian only for the shield to appear again.

Unexpectedly she blurred out of sight and appeared behind Vivian, her sword driving into the shield at full strength.

*Crack!*

The tip of the blade managed to break into the shield but Vivian wasn't worried.

"Since you're going to die either way, there's no harm in telling you. Do you really think anything can hide from her grace?" She asked as she smiled cruelly.

"From the moment the prophecy was told, she was aware of it. The child who had the power to bring destruction to this world should he please. We believe that your son is the so mentioned destroyer but destiny can always be changed." She continued as Miko continued her onslaught against the shield.

"That may be true except you forgot one thing. You have no sway in his destiny. If he really is the one prophesied, then you of all people can't harm him. Especially since your master wants him alive." Miko said with a smirk but Vivian's didn't reduce in the slightest.

"Not if there was only one Uchiha child left alive, forcing destiny to pick him as it's new champion!" Vivian revealed, causing Miko to remember Reid's questions.

"Haze…He's a part of this too." Miko realized as she took a step back in shock.

"We found it weird how the boy who used to be the best in his class wasn't selected to participate in defending the village. Your plan is a decent one but you won't get away with this." She exclaimed as she appeared in front of the shield, thrusting the sword towards it.

Unlike the previous times, the sword broke through the shield. Vivian had her eyes wide opened, just barely managing to dodge the thrust of the blade.

It grazed her side, causing her clothes to be stained with blood. The opportunity was taken as Miko slammed her foot across the woman's face, keeping her off balance before slashing the sword towards her neck.

Just as the sword made contact with the back of the neck, the skin on that area turned metal, effectively blocking the killing blow.

"It won't be that easy!" Vivian screamed as her body scattered in a cloud of smoke before reforming a few feet back, still injured.

"You're a tricky one." Miko said grimly.

"I don't need to win, remember? I just need to stall." Vivian said as pieces of rubble floated behind her.

Miko brandished the sword, channeling a small amount of aura through it in retaliation.

'Reid…please be careful.' She thought in panic.

Reid, using [Area Sense], sped through the destroyed village, eliminating any who came his way.

With the skill, he could feel the minuscule amount of villagers that were still alive but they were fading fast.

Up ahead in the distance was the giant human that started the destruction and on his shoulder was Reid's target.

A man rushed out of a corner in front of him, aiming to surprise attack him only to be met with a blade through the face.

His attempt didn't even slow the boy down as he had his sharingan focused on his target.

Sitting on the shoulder of the giant was a boy who was about a year or two older than Reid. He had the iconic Uchiha features of black hair and pale skin.

He watched everything from a high viewpoint with a serene smile on his face not dissimilar to his mother who was the cause of this.

'Haze!' Reid growled in his mind as he hid behind a large piece of rubble.

'I need to get closer.' He thought.

The giant human and it's tag along had no idea that they were being hunted. Activating [Disguise Mastery] he assumed the form of one of the men he had previously killed.

Brown hair and eyes of the same color and a beard around his chin. He was average height making him look somewhat stacked.

He peeked out of his position, making sure he wasn't being watched. He then walked forward confidently as if he wasn't planning on kill them.

Just as he got close to the giant, the two of them noticed him.

"Hey you! What do you think you're doing!? You're supposed to be looking for him!" Haze shouted from his position on the giant's shoulder.

'They're looking for me. Interesting.' Reid thought as he maintained his act.

The large man stretched his palm to his shoulder, offering it as a foothold for Haze to step upon.

"Are you even listening!?"

The ignorant boy had a look of irritation as he yelled at the disguised Reid while the palm brought him close to ground level.

"Of course I'm listening. I just had an idea that I thought I'd share with you." Reid spoke causing Haze to grow further irritated.

"I don't care what idea you have! Go and do your job!" The boy demanded arrogantly as he turned away to motion for him to be put back on the big man's shoulder.

"Are you sure about that?" Reid said, his voice having a teasing edge to it, halting the boy.

"What do yo-" Haze tried to talk but was interrupted.

"You might as well listen since you have no choice. How about you die?" Reid spoke, his voice returning to normal towards the end.

"You're-" Before the boy could react, thick smoke enveloped them. The titan of a man quickly withdrew it's hand only to find it empty.

Reid rushed out of the thick smoke with a knocked out Haze slung on his shoulder as he fled at high speed.

"Come back here!" The titan's loud voice roared as he chased them.

He swiped at the fleeing boy only for him to jump over it and continue running. With the weight of Haze on his shoulder, he couldn't outpace the large man by much.

The chase continued until they reached the other side of the village when the titan finally managed to catch him.

"You really thought you could run? Your life ends here!" The titan said as it gripped Reid tightly while Haze's prone form laid on his other palm.

He then clenched his fist as hard as he could, killing Reid.
