8 Beacon Initiation II

Yang woke up the next day. The whole sleepover with a bunch of her future classmates was fun to her. She got to see all the half naked guys messing around in their pyjamas. She figured her Dad, Taiyang wouldn't approve but she hadn't planned on telling him about this particular event when her and Ruby returned to Patch.

Currently she had woken up and was laying in her sleeping bag. Normally, she would have sprung up energetically and brushed her teeth in the nearby washroom. For a particular reason though, she was stuck in bed. She didn't really know how to deal with her current situation but oddly enough, she wasn't entirely against it.

Currently, Yang was being held like a body pillow by a sleeping Neo, who had a tiny amount of drool on the side of her lip. Yang noticed how firmly her upper body was squished against Neo's. The first thing she tried to do was move Neo's legs, which were currently wrapped around hers. Though she knew she could forcefully pry her off, she couldn't bring herself to do it.

~Don't wanna annoy her.. She did offer to tell me about my Mom after all. I gotta get Ruby or her friend to pry her off somehow~ Yang looked around and saw, unsurprisingly that everyone near her was still asleep. Unsurprising since she always woke up before her dad or sister.

After twenty minutes of being really aware of what Neo's body felt like, she finally saw Blake stir awake. She started to whisper over to her as soon as Blake lifted her head.

"Psst! Hey.. Your friend's a cuddler. Can you get her off?" Blake sighed and rubbed the tired from her eyes and walked over to them, gently hoisting Neo off of Yang.

But as soon as she did that, she became the next body pillow. Neo's face buried in the crook of her neck now. Blake tried to gently put her back on the sleeping bag but she was stuck to her like glue. After a minute of unsuccessfully trying to extract Neo from herself, she gave up and laid back on her bag. Breaking her book out again, she started to read with Neo on top of her.

Yang came back after going to the nearby washroom and saw Blake petting the sleeping Neo's head like she was a cat. It would look wholesome if it wasn't for the state of dress Neo was in and how she was on top of her. Smirking, Yang walked over and slightly laughed.

"So you guys are close eh? It's cute! Oh I can imagine the wedding photos now.." Yang tried to tease Blake, who just sighed.

"I've gotten used to a higher level of teasing already. She does it all the time" Blake rolled her eyes.

"Someone has challenged me.. I feel it" Neo woke up and squinted at Yang as she sat atop Blake's lap.

"You think you can tease with the best..? Hmph! I say HMPH.. You are not a clown.. you are the whole damn CIRCUS if you think you can get reactions out of us" Neo challenged her, opening her arms like some kind of cocky villain.

"Oh it's on.." Yang accepted the challenge with a giant smile.

Blake groaned at this. Somehow she could already see this evolving into a contest to drive her crazy. Burying her head in her book, she tried to ignore them but Yang started to make terrible puns so she decided to go to the washroom and brush her teeth before she developed the clenching muscles of a 60 year old clam from the cringe.

-Beacon weapon locker room, two hours later-

Neo was getting Playboy Plunder from her locker and strapping it to her back. She was suddenly alerted when the system sent a notification and gave the message a glance.

~There we go.. Guess it won't be too long until I start getting sent to other universes. Now.. who to pick? I should give this some to decide~ Neo closed her locker and was thinking of who to invite in when she overheard Weiss once again.

She was talking to Pyrrha, who was putting her armor on and getting ready. She sounded far nicer than earlier but that's only because Neo knew she was trying to woo Pyrrha to be her teammate. Neo guessed Weiss probably had a fantasy of being in a team of elite Huntman and Huntresses.

"So Pyrrha, have you given any thought as to whose team you would like to be on? I'm sure EVERYONE must be eager to unite with such a strong and well-known individual such as yourself" Weiss complimented her with a hopeful expression.

"Hmm.. I'm not quite sure. I was planning on letting the chips fall where they may" Pyrrha glanced at Neo, who stopped and blankly looked at Weiss as if in thought.

~Good god she's easy to read.. I do like her personality later on but early Weiss is bratty and a snob..~

"Well I was thinking maybe we could be on a team together" Weiss stood as tall as she could in what looked like an attempt to seem confident.

"Well that sounds grand" Pyrrha smiled and agreed though to Neo the smile seemed forced.

Weiss then turned away from her and took on a scheming expression with both hands clasped together.

"Snow White! Oh so nice to see you again. You're looking... chipper today! So how are you ladies doing? Ready to plunge into the initiation test?" Neo put her arms around them both and appeared as friendly and innocent as she could.

"You again..?" Weiss folded her arms.

"Nice to meet you.. um..?" Pyrrha asked.

"Neo Jasmine. You can call me by either name if you want" Neo pulled her arms off and Pyrrha nodded at her.

"Nice to meet you, Neo!" She even waved at her.

"I can't believe you're not happy to see me, Weiss. You even called me CUTE yesterday. Le gasp! Were you perhaps making fun of innocent, gentle me? Oh shame.." Neo started to talk dramatically, making Weiss' eye twitch.

"Ugh.. I was just talking to my good friend PYRRHA about being on the same team. You can go now.." Weiss made a shooing gesture.

"Actually I think the teams are comprised of four students each so maybe we could all be on the same team?" Pyrrha offered with a disarming smile.

~I know it was for comedy but JAUNE how could you be such a douche to such a nice girl!? I have a thing for redheads so I might be biased though.. Fuck it! I already planned on getting into JNPR so let's commit~ Neo nodded and smiled at Pyrrha.

"If you're in it I'd be more than happy to. You seem really nice" Neo complimented her and earned a chuckle from the redhead.

"Neo or.. Jasmine, is it? Do you have ANY idea who you're talking to?" Weiss went into lecture mode and stood in front of Pyrrha.

"Oh? Enlighten me, Snow White" Neo crossed her arms and leaned her back on a locker.

"THIS is Pyrrha" Weiss pointed back to her.

"Hello again!" Pyrrha waved as Neo bit her knuckle.

~Too wholesome! Too cute! MUST PROTECT~ Neo made a muffled cry.

"Pyrrha graduated top of her class at Sanctum"

"Cool" Neo responded casually.

"Ugh! She's WON the Mistral Regional Tournament four years in a row. A new record!" Weiss bragged on Pyrrha's behalf, who seemed to shrink a bit at everything Weiss was going on about.

"Dope" Neo again responded, even more casually.

"She's on the front of EVERY Pumpkin Pete's marshmallow flakes box!" Weiss added again, with an even higher decibel.

"Oh I don't eat cereal much. When I do.. I gotta go with my boy Cap'n Crunch" Neo nodded sagely.

"I.. what? Who? Ugh.. nevermind. So.. after hearing all of this.. you really think you're in a position to think she'd be on your team?" Weiss finished with as much snark as she could muster.

Neo put on a thinking face for around a total of five seconds before smirking and facing her once again.

"Yup" Neo replied simply.

"What do-" Weiss was about to start again but Neo interrupted.

"You know I knew that all, right? I don't give a rats ass how famous she is. Or how badass she's portrayed as. She's still a human. Like us. These things stop mattering when you learn here. Titles do not save you from the Grimm, Weiss. Besides, I wanna team up with her because she seems really nice. The fact that she's beautiful or kicks ass is a nice plus though" Neo lectured Weiss again, making the Heiress uncomfortable but unable to refute her words.

Pyrrha's expression shifted from shock and slight sadness to a real smile as she put her hand on Neo's shoulder.

"Thank you.. Really. I think you would make a great leader. Ì'd love to be on your team" Pyrrha happily exclaimed.

"I.. maybe you're right. I'm sorry if I was rude earlier" Weiss actually apologized, making Neo's brow raise.

"Huh.. interesting. No problem. I'm not one to hold a grudge over something so small"

The announcements were then heard and all students reconvened at a large cliff overlooking the Emerald Forest. All of them lined up on launch pads. There, Ozpin and Goodwitch were standing. Ozpin, with his cup of coffee in his hand began to speak once again.

"For years you have trained to become warriors. Today your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest" He finished and started sipping from his mug.

For the rest of the exposition, Neo tuned them out and prepared Playboy Plunder, looking over at Blake and Pyrrha who were nearby. Blake looked at her questioningly as if asking if she knew what was going to happen. Which Neo simply nodded at and made a flying gesture. Pyrrha was paying attention but caught the wordless conversation going on between Neo and Blake.

"Awwh.." Neo heard Ruby whine to herself and picked up the last part of Ozpin's explanation.

"That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years" Neo then heard Ruby squeal in despair and snickered.

~Oh Ruby.. You'll eventually break out of that shell. Oooh, more character development! Let's see.. Ah, right. Team CRDL is here too. I'm definitely gonna screw with them in the forest. Yup, there's Nora and Ren. I wonder what voice Ren has? I hope it's the Monty Oum voice he had in the early volumes~ Neo twirled the Scythe-Halberd and kept on thinking about the future and more importantly, how exactly she'll be landing in the forest.

Ozpin finishes his explanation and one by one, the future students are launched into the forest below.

"Wooo!!" The girl she identified as Nora blasted off.

"Woohooo!!" Then it was Yang, followed by Ruby and Neo.

As Neo rocketed into the forest, she knew what her landing strategy would be. Closing in on the forest, she saw a javelin fly at her. Turning Playboy Plunder into Scythe mode, she ducked under it and hooked the scythe in, allowing it to carry her onto a tree, where she hung for a second before flipping on it and sitting on the shaft with her legs crossed.

~And now to wait for Pyrrha~

She didn't have to wait very long as Pyrrha hurriedly made her way over. Neo was currently shooting the limbs off of a stray Beowolf who saw her and decided she was an easy target.

"Neo?" Pyrrha saw her handstand off the javelin and hop off, dislodging it from the tree and landing gracefully in front of her.

"Know what this means, Pyr? BFF Huntress buddies. Come on, lets go find our piece" Neo winked and bumped her butt into hers playfully.

"Right! I knew you'd be good but wow. You're quite acrobatic" Pyrrha followed along.

"You'll find out more about me as we go along, Partner. Here's a freebie though. I find redheads really attractive" Neo laughed as Pyrrha blushed at the compliment.

~I knew I chose the right partner!~ Pyrrha quickly thought with a growing smile.
