Anomally in the Land of Darkness

*CAW*

A Grimm...A small Nevermore cawed as it flew around the ominous skies.

A barren wasteland.....

This is the place where our story starts.....

A barren wasteland with rocky terrains and enormous purple crystals sprouting everywhere from the ground.

The sky is stained in dark red color and environment unleashed an evil and ominous vibe.

This place has many names: The Dark Continent, The Chaos Grounds, Realm of Madness, The Grimm Lands, and many other ominous names.

To an outside observer, it was like an alien world, a land uninhabited by any kind creatures.

They would mostly be right, as there were no plants or animals. Only pitch black pools of ichor and impassable spires of purple crystals everwhere.

But to say that it's uninhabited would be a mistake.

This place has one type of inhabitant, they were almost endless in number and they had a myriad of varieties.

The are more of them here compared to anywhere else in the world.

It was the Grimm. This was their domain, Salem's Domain. The Land of Darkness.

Humans describe them as mindless creatures of darkness that only knows how to feed and kill, as well as causing terror on the creations of man .

But, like many of their widely held beliefs, this is not entirely true.

Other than their irresistible urge to attack humans, Grimms would also gather in groups to hunt, fight, and kill for one purpose.

To Evolve.

The creatures of Grimms gain power from negative energy. But they need something more in order to grow and evolve to a higher species.

The Land of Darkness was a domain that overflowed with negative energy.

But these kinds of Negative Energies were primed for the creation of Grimms, as well as nourish then for a slow and steady growth.

If they want to Evolve with greater strength gains and get stronger faster, then they need to feed on humans.

They need to feed on their flesh and drink their blood.

They need to feed on Aura.

They need to feed on their Souls!

Despite the truly endless amount of negative energy in the domain, there are also countless Grimms attempting to greedily absorb it.

Most Grimm spend less than half a year in Salem's Domain before they find their way to the other lands, driven by their instinct to hunt and feed on humans.

Which raises a single question of an abnormality.

"Why are you still here?" A woman asked as she observed a lone avian Grimm.

Her skin has a deathly pallor color, it covered with deep red and purple veins that run up her to arms and face. The sclerae of her eyes are jet black and her irises glowed red. She also has a black diamond-shaped marking in the center of her forehead.

She was wearing a very long black robe with red designs that resembled eyes. She also wears a ring that resembles an insect on her right index finger. And, her white hair was formed into a bun.

It was Salem....

Salem was looking from her tower and she stared down at the desolation below.

At the far edge of her vision, which was more than twenty kilometers away. She spots thousands of Grimms gathering around and forming groups.

In that area, were thousands of Raven-like Grimms. Either big or small, they were flying and circling around the area. Other Nevermores also joined in and they all slowly formed into a big flock.

Her gaze was firmly planted on a seemingly 'member' of the flock, that wasn't flying and was just hopping around the large purple crystals.

This abnormal Nevermore had come to her notice about a year after she had spawned it.

She understood that Grimms would take their to time to stay here until they leave. But usually, many young Grimms would leave in less than a year after being 'born'.

But this juvenile Nevermore simply traveled around her domain by hopping onto the land and on the purple crystals.

Although it had certainly absorbed enough negative energy to grow bigger....

But it didn't....

It was truly an abnormality....

"How interesting."

As for its actions into never leaving the domain....

Perhaps it is simply being careful. It wanted to grow more before venturing to the outside world, or it may have some brain damage among the Grimms she spawned.

"This little one may have some problems..."

With that thought in her head, Salem moved as she flew out of her castle and began to approach the little Grimm.

.....

.....

It has been a year now, and the little Nevermore was still here.

There were already five huge separate flocks of Nevermore's, but this particular Grimm didn't join its companions.

Salem was wondering if this Grimm had some sort of defect, as it was still only about the size of a normal raven after absorbing a year worth's of Negative Energy.

Maybe it has some problems on its physique.

Maybe it was incapable of growth and evolution.

Such a pitiful existence....

She considered on simply killing it in order to end its continued failure. But after some thought, she decided on not doing so.

It wasn't causing any issues in any way, it was just there to wonder around.

It was truly a weird Grimm.

Every other of her Grimms followed their goals nicely. They would go to the outside world to sow chaos and destruction, and they continue to do until death.

But this one simply moved around her domain and it liked to hop around on the crystals.

This actions vexed the Dark Queen as it spent most of its time on the ground.

A Nevermore, the Grimm that was the terror and her weapon of the skies, had spent most of its life hopping around on land.

She had never considered any of her Grimms as failures, even those that left and died immediately had just fallen below her hopes, but they were never failures in her eyes.

However, this Nevermore had run out her patience. This would be its last day. She was about to act on her urge until she felt something weird as he closed in to it.

"Nothing interesting...move on.....want to know more..." The Grimm thought as it hopped around the purple crystals.

"Its...thinking?" Salem had a bewildered expression.
