Chapter 68: Beacon Academy (2)

Chapter 68: Beacon Academy (2)

~Jack POV~

Today was another day in Beacon as we finally had some free time to do what we want on the weekends here I managed to get by with my INT stat being 60 and using the <Image Training> to grind on my skills that needed a good leveling.

You know my <Shadow>, <Via Sun>, <Glyphs>, <Aura Ball>, <Telekinesis>, <Technopathy>, and a few more just naming some that aren't combat-ready.

However, <Via Sun> on the other hand certainly makes up for it by training in one skill repeatedly over and over again in my <Image Training> as I practice my skill in the void before attempting targets.

Still at the same level of 25 but using Grunts who are now giving me Level 1 to 1 EXP points I took my time to adjust the grind at a slow pace as I level up my skills in the process.

Grimm is too insufficient to face as the wild ones are the same as them.

Just brutes with no way to fight except for what they have.

Now fighting humans though?

That's a very different manner altogether especially fighting against my own teammates and other students in my <Image Training> showing me despite my own versatility I will lose because of a lack of fighting experience.

But it did provide me to increase <Martial Arts Mastery> and <Sword Mastery> with weapons I have stored from the White Fang incident even though they get destroyed from the impact of the imaginary weapons from the students as my opponents.

However, it did grant me experience fighting multiple people and what to expect fighting people with other weapons with their own mechas twist as I have to admit keeps me up on my toes.

I won't deny that it did surprise me and made me flee for my life.

That's why I'm currently inside the Beacon Library studying up some Dust info inside as I began to look around reading on the topic of Dust something, I never had the chance to really study till now at least.

As the saying goes knowledge is power.

"Jack is that you?"

Hearing a voice I recognize I turn around to see Weiss Schnee enter carrying a few books with her as she talked to me with a smile on her face, "Didn't expect you to be in the library here during the weekend. Where are the rest of your team?"

Smiling and waving her a hello I replied to her the answer where my team is currently seeing no harm, "Ren and Nora are in the kitchen with King Ren making pancakes for Nora. Pyrrha I believe should be with one of the professors about improving herself. As for me, I need to study to catch up with everyone here. Where's yours?"

Getting closer to me with a few textbooks in her arms coming closer to me she replied with a complicated expression on her face, "Well… after what happened in the dream, we all went to Ozpin to talk about some events that happened. And after that well… let's just say things happened."

Raising an eyebrow at that I left it alone since it's a Team RWBY thing.

Better to not get involved in their personal life too much.

After all, I need to do my own thing.

I would be a creep if I try to get myself involved with everything.

Turning the next page over on subjects and theories about Dust Weiss glances over to me as she spoke to me with a curious voice, "Dust for Hunters Volume 1? You know I have never seen you use Dust before in a fight only with your brutish fist as far as I recall. You don't mind if I sit over here?"

Shrugging to her as a meaning of go ahead I replied to Weiss my response as who seems genuinely shocked, "Yeah if you want. As for your earlier question, it kind of involves the fact I never had any training only experience when I came so I didn't understand how you guys use Dust since I'm metaphorically a civilian with no training in Huntsman."

Weiss's expression was priceless as she looked absolutely shocked she calmed herself as she began to look at me with confusion as she tries to give a question, "What…! You mean you never trained or even been educated in this line and – how? How did you even get into Beacon if –"

Interrupting her question-turning rant I replied with a shrug of the shoulders doing so in a calm tone, "Ozpin already let me as he knows that. He wanted me to guide my Semblance if it was my guess in Beacon. Considering how you saw its use he wanted me to be inside to learn to use it right?"

Proving my point, I used <Glyph> in front of Weiss as she paused or froze on the spot I used the basic form of <Glyph> as she asked me, "How? How did you manage to copy a hereditary semblance like mine? Most semblances that is copied base can't copy Semblances that are hereditary trait because it messes with their own hereditary of the soul changing them or not compatible."

Oh?

Raising my eyebrow at that I guess I didn't think it was that much of a big deal.

Although Weiss now has my curiosity now as she said those words as I talked to her in a curious tone, "Really? I was able to do that with an Arc and I guess a Schnee now. Are there problems when a copied base semblance tries to do so on someone like you?"

At this Weiss basically gives me the idea of why as she gets serious and confused on her face looking at me like an anomaly, "Yes. Because when a copy semblance user usually copies, pretty basic semblances like super strength, speed, or hearing there are limits to them. But it also has to be compatible with the soul that always comes to the main issue."

Getting my full attention Weiss began to talk about the consequences of those that try to me from her own sources, "Whenever a copy user tries to copy a semblance like mine you have a change of personality as it will be noticeable but then degrades further down if you have the same semblance as mine. At least in most common cases, it's easily cured if you release it. As for others that try it won't happen because their own aura will not register it and thus be unable to copy. But yours seems to be an exception."

"Oh."

I said that without thinking much about it but I could consider it's because of my [The Gamer] ability allowing me to use that many semblances but that's for another time.

Reading more on the book I began to ask Weiss a question as she seems to finally get her attention on a different subject, "Say, Weiss? Can you do summon like your dream counterpart?"

"Heh?"

At this, she soon blushes at the idea of not being able to do her summoning as she looks down in defeat with embarrassment in her cheeks, "Ehh… I mean technically I can but… what exactly brought this on?"

Replying to her question showing the <Glyphs> skill I have at the tip of my finger I began to talk to Weiss about it, "Kind of wondering if you had any experience summoning them. But if considering the look on your face you don't seem to know how yet."

Her face falls at that as she replied to me with a defeated expression on her face, "Agh… yeah… Summoning is something I still need to work on. I'm good at using my <Glyphs> but when it comes to summoning it becomes harder to do. I just don't get it?"

Turning another page as I raised an eyebrow at her I decided to ask Weiss if she needed some help, "Really? In that case, do you need help unlocking it perhaps? I mean with my <Aura Amp> it should boost your semblance and aura. Maybe you just need a push in your aura to get it to work. With your permission of course."

Wiess looks at me in complete shock but in her voice, she almost sounded hopeful even, "What? Really, I mean… I tried everything I could to unlock it but… is it all I need is boosting my aura will unlock it?"

Giving her an honest reply to Weiss as I talked to her along with a shrug but a smile on my face, "I mean it could but also not. But hey at least it's worth a shot. If not at least we both can learn what else is needed."

Weiss thinks for a bit before she finally replied to me and also gave me a reminder about Shion departing soon, "Right. How about we try it at a later date since we both have things to do? Oh right. I almost forgot to inform you that the Dream Hunter Shion is leaving soon. Are you coming with us to see his departure?"

Nodding at that I agreed since it was thanks to him that I managed to wake up or else I would be in dreamland for good in a dead coma.

It's the least I can do since Shion's departure is soon.

When I was done reading the book about Dust for Hunters Vol.1 I began to touch one of the books going into more detail about how to use Fire Dust with the soul.

Interesting concepts really how they implement it, especially with others, but semester break is coming soon I wonder what I should do exactly.

Hmm…

I know I should grind up but I also need a place to stay for the time being most importantly I would need to start getting allies of my own.

Maybe I should create my own separate party members like actually creating them by hand or perhaps buy one really.

No not like slavery but perhaps like a pet that I can train up to fight beside me… yeah that sounds like something I should do in the future when semester break hits around in the few weeks.

Oh right!

I forgot that since volume 1 is ending there would be a point where Tukson books are free to take and maybe some skill books inside the process.

Betting I can get some good skills for me to add to my arsenal for me to use.

Maybe I should start to look into that during my free time for now I need to catch up on studying these Dust for Hunters.
