Chapter 28: The First Step (2)

~Third POV~

Like that Yang dragged the two anti-social people along to search for someone to make some friends with as she found her target.

The target wears a black, buttoned vest with coattails and a single silver button on the front. Underneath this is a white, sleeveless, high-necked, crop undershirt and white shorts with a zipper on the front of each leg, emblazoned with the YKK logo of the real-life Japanese zipper manufacturer.

That person is Blake Belladonna as Yang went ahead to introduce herself along with her reluctant friend and sister, "Hello! Got a minute? I'm Yang this here is Jack, and this is my cute baby sister, Ruby. What's your name?"

Blake merely tilted her head up at them as she read the book title 'The Man with Two Souls' only muttering her name, "Blake."

Yang opens her arms as she tries to open up more conversation with her as she spoke, "Blake! Isn't the weather today lovely today?"

Blake replied sarcastically with a plain expression on her face discouraging Yang, "-Almost as lovely as this book… that I'll continue to read as soon as you three leave."

"Oh."

Ruby taking an interest replied innocently as Jack looked around the area in the Bullhead, "Hey what book is that?"

Jack listening in to their conversation also heard Blake review about the book in question, "It's about a man with two souls, each fighting for control over his body."

Yang obviously gets bored with the subject while Ruby continues the conversation as she spoke to Blake happily, "I like books, too! Reading stories about heroes was what made me want to be a huntress."

As Blake closes her eyes at this, she opens them as she tilted her response toward Ruby with realistic reasoning, "Because they all have a happy ending? The real world isn't the same as a fairy tale."

Nodding in understanding from Jack's view on Blake he chose to remain silent in this as many thoughts enter his head about the events happening making him rethink, 'Wait… wasn't this conversation only happened during Beacon? Then… why is it happening now and why are the main cast already here…'

As Jack was deep in thought Ruby continued to be the optimistic girl, she is speaking to Blake stunning her a bit, "That's why we're here! To make it a better place."

Yang being the happy older sister replied in encouragement to Ruby's ideals hugging her already as Ruby didn't deny it this time, "Nice one, Ruby! I'm so proud of my baby sister!"

"Cut it out, Yang!"

Hearing Ruby's response as she says that Jack goes over to Blake and asks a question with some curiosity in his voice, "Say is The Man with Two Souls good or worse compared to the book of the Infinite Man?"

Listening in Blake took her attention towards Jack finally speaking as she replied her opinion of the book, "Hmm… comparing the two it would seem that The Man with Two Souls gives the better narrative of two people struggling for control while the Infinite Man is more what each life done with life lessons. But I would recommend The Infinite Man for life lessons and this book about struggles."

Jack smiles genuinely at the idea of reading other worlds books and nodded his head in thanks to her, "Hmm… good to know Blake. I'll be sure to get one of those books in my spare time and thanks for the review."

"Good. You won't regret it."

That was when everyone in the Bullhead listen over to the news announcement on the hologram screen, "The robbery was led by nefarious criminal Rowman Torchwick, who continues to evade authorities. If you have any information on his whereabouts, please contact the Vale Police Department."

But he was interrupted when the news announcement wasn't done yet as it continued onward of informing others, "Also the rise of the White Fang has been on the rise with being more aggressive than ever before for protesting. Now over to you Lisa."

After passing over to the next news lady everyone listens in to what Cyril says on the news as she explains the current events, "Thank you, Jeff. Now for our next story, this Saturday's Faunus Civil Rights protest turned dark when a riot broke out when the members of the White Fang forced their way into a recent Faunus Rights protest."

Turning their attentions towards the screens and live video of events happening Jack took notice of this as he continues to listen in, "Suspicious of the White Fang's involvement in a series of Dust robberies, the Schnee Dust Company, industry leader in Dust trade, is considering fortifying it's security division and is increasing precautions."

Frowning at this Jack knows the reason why for this as Ruby innocently replies to the news happening, "The Schnee Dust Company is really well known, huh?"

Listening to this Jack began to reply absently mildly saying his opinion about the Schnee Dust Company not noticing a certain Schnee getting near as he spoke, "Even though I don't remember much I have done some research about the SDC. Rumors have it they're the most corrupt in the world. And they treat their workers like slaves under the current head racist fucker."

"Swear!"

"Ugh…"

Yang nods at this with a smile catching him swear in front of Ruby but at this noticed someone coming from behind as Weiss Schnee spoke to them coldly, "What did you just say? What do you three think you know."

*Shiver*

Feeling a shiver down Jack's spine as he turns around to see Weiss Schnee as he mentally wants to strangle his past self not seeing Weiss earlier, 'Ah crab baskets….'

"Who are you supposed to be?"

Hearing Yang's response Weiss began to present herself to us as she replied in her own justified opinion, "I'm Weiss Schnee, the company's heiress."

"Seriously?"

That was when Ruby waved her hands defending herself and her friends as she spoke, "Um, we didn't mean to say anything bad about you! We've just heard those rumors…"

However, instead of calming Weiss, it had the opposite effect as Jack remained calm as she gets closer to him specifically, "Rumors? You're swallowing every lie the anti-human Faunus and their lowlife group of thieves, the White Fang, are feeding you. And you… how dare you – "

Not taking any words any longer Jack simply replied with a bored expression on his face as he spoke out to her, "That your father is dragging the Schnee Family name through the shit hole? Why yes, I do dare. What you got a problem with me speaking the truth out or my humble opinion? Please the current head is scum."

Weiss glares hatefully at Jack as he mentions his opinion as she tried to talk but couldn't as Jack continues keeping his eyes on her being civil, "And please do keep your racist views to yourself, Schnee. This isn't Atlas so keep your racist-filled thoughts and opinion in your head or shove them where it doesn't shine. Not all Faunus are evil that's just you."

Weiss glares heavily at Jack but still continues as his eyes look down on her as he spoke out his opinion, "I just hope the next head isn't someone who's a racist lead the company better because as far as I see it's a lost cause if current heiress doesn't change."

"You would dare…!"

Yawning in boredom Weiss tries to continue more but not before Blake replied to defend Jack's words, "The White Fang used to be a pacifist group. At least until your company started exploiting the powerless."

Weiss turns her attention toward Blake as she asked her a question, "Are you on the Faunus's side?"

Blake stops reading her book as she turns her attention towards Weiss about her beliefs on the SDC, "Your totally ignorant if you think all Faunus are evil."

"Why how dare you…!"

Before she could talk even further Jack began to talk once more interrupting Weiss only enough for her to hear before Yang did anything as he spoke, "Whoa their Ice Queen. I wouldn't do anything rash right now because currently you are being talked about. I would advise doing something not to ruin your reputation as people are talking."

Weiss stopped when he heard Jacks's voice her eyes darted as some people nearby got to hear the news and seeing what was going on as made Weiss stop her actions as people began to judge her.

Weiss manages to recover her actions as she saw some people judge her in whispers behind her back as she digs her nails into her hands and replies to Jack in a hushed tone, "This isn't over you brute."

Jack merely was smirking in victory Yang managed to separate the two as she tries to calm down the situation, "Wait, wait! We just got off on the wrong foot. Why don't we start over? We're all Beacon Students, so get along. Come on Jack…"

Hearing this he sighs being the better man in this situation he tried to start over with Weiss as she has shown her glare but stopped as people are viewing her, "Sigh… fine. I guess I was a bit heated on the subject. While I don't like racist people regarding one's own birth as evil, I can see how the White Fang is currently a terrorist group and not the pacifist group I knew."

Breathing in and out at this Jack smiled helplessly at the situation being mature about the situation, "Whew…. Sigh… So, let's make a do-over. Hi, I'm Jack Nights a newbie in Beacon. I personally hope we get to work together in the future and put this dispute behind us as fellow Hunters."

Weiss on her part felt surprised at how he apologized but bitterly accepted it since people were watching with smiles looking at Jack's attitude as being the better person and Weiss with some disdain or curiosity, "Very well. I… I may have over-step my boundaries. I hope to put this behind us in the future. I'm Weiss Schnee."

Like that the two shook their hands together getting the public school's opinion of them.
