Chapter 134: Backlash

Chapter 134: Backlash

~Jack POV~

Hahaha!

I didn't expect Ruby to actually cum or be wet from just eating my food using my <Cooking> skill since I thought it was something that I was going to need for today's date.

All I can say is this.

Gladly spent my taking a skill from an opponent than using <Fusion> and using said skills for the greater benefit of my kind.

Still, it was a bit embarrassing to see Ruby cum like that from eating food. Truly the world and experience of the protagonist of Food Wars are truly a force to be reckoned with.

Maybe I can add to my Capsule Corp. culinary best foods that Remnant has ever seen. Could be worth a lot honestly if my food somehow saves the world.

Hahaha!

Now isn't that the best kind of outcome to have in the future sadly I can persuade Grimm with food otherwise it would've been way too easy?

Looking at the empty table of food on the table I see that Ruby took the food I smiled at this while it was almost time to lead Ruby to the final day of our date… showing Ruby her mother…

Taking out my item my Elixir from my <Deep Pocket> and using my <Mechanical King> gathering all I need to replicate the item I could only frown at how useful this item really is making me second guess myself using it.

Sigh…

Shaking my head I began to return the Elixir back into my <Deep Pockets> I turn on my Scroll with A2 texting me with Summer is showing signs of her beginning to wake up.

Alright… here's hoping everything works.

"Done!"

Seeing Ruby come out while trying to be sneaky turning in the empty plate of food Ruby has a goofy smile on her face as she tries to talk to me, "Say Jack… what did you put in that food! It was really good and also please don't tell my sister or friends about what happened! Pretty please!"

Laughing a bit as Ruby puffs her face out I began to reply to Ruby promising her we'll keep this a secret along with a future promise of this being a prank, "No worries I'll keep it a secret. But how about doing this to our friends? I'm sure they will have an interesting reaction hmm…?"

At this Ruby stopped thinking before smiling evilly or adorably at the idea before she shakes her head not as she spoke, "Yeah that will – ah! Wait no that's wrong. Although it's something for later please promise me to only reserve that if necessary."

Nodding my head I began to take Ruby by the hand making her blush but also because it was time.

Turning my head to the direction ahead Ruby soon noticed my shift in tone with me frowning asking what was wrong, "Jack…? Are you ok? Are you feeling well? Come on you can speak to me what's wrong?"

Not bothering to reply I could only respond to her in the eye with a promise with my lips quivering when I said my words, "Whatever I show you next… just know I wish I could've done this sooner but can't for unexplainable reasons that you aren't ready to understand. I'll answer the best I can, but I choose the right to remain silent ignoring your questions."

Ruby then looks at me concerned while we both began to face towards the direction leading to Summer's room.

May God give me strength…

~Third POV~

Entering the corridor halls of Jack's island home base Jack and Ruby both followed down to see a room with Ruby concerned about what he had said.

Revealing a steel-sealed door Jack soon began to speak in a calmer tone as if relieving the fear, he has in his heart, "Whew… Ruby. Whatever you do you can't speak of this to anyone. You can speak to your family after seeing the person behind the door. I plan to allow them to enter when they know. But… I wanted you to be first to see this just so they believe your words and not my own when I introduce you to her."

Ruby for her part was confused but also a little scared by what Jack has said to her.

Lots of things were passing through her mind when Jack said those words but knowing fully well of Jack's behavior, she wasn't afraid of what Jack did but rather how shocking it will be for her to know.

*Thud*

Opening the steel door the two enter inside with Ruby following behind and Jack taking the lead their eyes finally landed on a bed with the windows closed but showed the view of the island at nighttime.

The moonlight shining through suddenly interrupted the light of the room revealing a woman that Ruby stopped in her tracks seeing the life support sleeping as if nothing was wrong but Ruby…

It meant everything.

Slowly approaching the figure with some chairs nearby for her to grab Jack slowly followed behind as Ruby's eyes began to flicker in and out of her Silver Eyes activating and expressing an influx of emotions.

Guilt, relief, confusion, fear, happiness, sadness, despair, hope, etc.

Ruby's own emotions were going a roller coaster with her fist trembling with anger presenting itself first glanced her eyes at Jack with many questions in her wanting answers with the words caught up in her throat.

Too many to say and hard to know which ones to pick.

However, Ruby was justifiably angry with Jack for keeping it a secret recalling the sadness in his eyes making her realize fully well he knew of this beforehand asking almost coming out as a growl causing him to flinch, "Jack…. Please tell me… tell me how long you have known that my own mother was inside your island…"

At this Jack didn't back down remaining with a guilty but neutral expression on his face as he spoke, "When I first came to the island taking it as my own. It was only after a few hours of looking through the files of what Dr. Merlot had that I accidentally found Summer Rose… your mother in a cryostasis pod..."

The anger in Ruby's voice was ever-present realizing he knew for a while, now with tears evident in her eyes feeling betrayed as she wanted answers, "Why? Why haven't you called me or Yang about this? Don't you know how much pain we had losing my mom? Do you!?"

Flinching at this with Ruby's voice raising at him he replied all the same with regret in his voice and expressing guilt wishing to show her mother to the Rose Family sooner, "I did want, to show you to her. I really did… but I couldn't because if I have… it would lead the same people who caught her to what they did to her… they would do the same to you."

Badly explaining it Ruby managed to catch, herself hearing the words feeling her anger calming down with labored breaths but still having a steel tone she spoke, "What do you mean? Who would be after me just because they know that I'm related to my own mother… Jack what aren't you telling me…."

Avoiding eye contact from Ruby not wanting to explain the answer he brought out his Scroll while answering her, "I can't say. I can't reveal the third party for the case you would start looking for something way over your head. But I can reveal why I didn't want her out at least I can be sure there – "

*Drip*

However, Ruby didn't want none of that as she rushes in getting close to his face with tears running down her face wanting the truth, "Jack you're avoiding the question! Please… tell me who did this? Who was the one who took my own mother? Who was the person that robbed me of my childhood with my mom? The one who made my dad sad… Please… I just want to hear the truth…"

Jack couldn't avoid looking Ruby in the eyes as he wanted to tell her a lie but…

Before Jack could continue thinking Ruby was tightening her grip with her voice hoarse with tears falling down Jack person almost begging even, "Jack… we are friends, right? Then why can't you tell me the truth about what happened to my mother?! We are close right… then why aren't you speaking… please…! I just want to know why would you keep this from me. From our friends!"

Before Jack could reply or respond he was then suddenly hit by his own mind with memories of their time together from the beginning when they first met against Roman began to appear in Jack's mind.

Memories of their bond they share all the joys, the jokes, the fun times, the bad, and all that they, have gone through.

Of course, that wasn't the only memory to resurface as did his time being Team JNPR and Team RWBY along with their greatest challenge to being kids hanging out with all the good and the bad with them.

Memories of their time together began to enter in flashes in Jack's mind when he stopped himself to think an important question to himself, 'Can I really lie or hide the truth from Ruby? A trusted ally and possibly lover after this but refused to speak to her will be safe right? … no. If I did I would just like be Ozma… isolated and alone…'

When Jack thought soon processed that he immediately knew what to do consequences be dammed to him.

It was either lying to Ruby for small comfort losing their bond or telling Ruby the truth that will forever horrify her of the truth.

Yet Jack made the hardest choice he made himself.

Ruby soon lets, go of Jack's hand turning around to head towards her mother feeling he won't respond only to be stopped by him grabbing her hand as his eyes are a shadow overcast with Ruby listening to his words, "Truth is the ultimate power. When the truth comes around, all the lies have to run or hide…"

Hearing his words Ruby turns around to Jack with her tears streaming off her face Jack expresses a conflicted but soon turned a serious expression on his face to Ruby, "Very well then… Ruby, you said you wanted the truth right? You wanted to hear who the real cause of the person who stole your mother's time was?"

This Ruby nod at this making Jack sigh taking a seat with her listening intently and emotionally distraught Jack begins to explain to her, "Sigh… Ruby just know what I say is the truth and only the truth. I thought I could lie or hide this from you but… I know I would be only avoiding the pain. So, if you want the truth then I'll do my best to give it out. Before we begin though I want you to agree that all I say is the truth. And…"

Glancing towards Summer with a defeated expression on his face Jack puts up a determined look to Ruby, "If you don't believe me then I'll prove it to you through Summer memories with <Soul Archive>. Now then… to begin we have to go way back… tell me what's your favorite fairy tale."

Ruby confused by this could only agree and listen to Jack's words as he reveals the shadow world that she and all the people glancing at the Beacon of Light finally turn around to know the truth of the shadow of the world…
