Atlas {And Logan's Stats}

Logan released a deep sigh as he watched the particles of the Grimm Titan known as Moby Grimm dissipate from the depths of the deep ocean off the coast of Solitas. For a week, Logan and a team of over thirty hunters have been dumping echolocators into the water hoping for a hint as to where Moby Grimm was. Yesterday, they got a ping from a cave and after several hunters dived down, three returned and confirmed that the cave was Moby Grimm hideaway. The next day, a total of forty ships arrived and dropped depth charges to draw Moby Grimm out. A six-hour-long battle later, over half the ship were gone and numerous injures left the giant Grimm whale dead in the water.

Looking over at the remaining ships, Logan couldn't help but feel the loss of life that was once present before the battle. Logan just sighed again before heading off to Atlas to report the battle. After a long and solemn three-hour flight, Logan landed in Atlas and was immediately sneered at by the locals. Giving them no mind, Logan made his way towards the Atlas Command Center for its troops. It then took another three hours just to deal with Ironwood's personnel as they tried to mess with Logan every step of the way. Keyword, 'tried'.

After dealing with writing several reports, estimates, and other political junk left Logan needing a drink. But as he walked through Atlas, all he got was sneers, insults, and things thrown at his head. Not even the soldiers patroling did anything to stop them, feeling the same as them when they saw Logan. Knowing he wouldn't get anything close to a drink from anywhere in Atlas, Logan went to fly off but hear someone calling him. Looking over to the voice, Logan was pleasantly surprised who he saw.

Logan: "Well, isn't this a pleasant surprise." Logan said as he walked over to a cafe with outdoor seating. "I didn't expect to meet you two while I was here."

Pietro: "Well, it was a surprise for me as well." Pietro said as he offered Logan to sit. "I had heard you were in the area, but I haven't had the time to greet you."

Pietro is an elderly man with dark skin and short, balding white hair. He wears a green cap with oval-shaped glasses. He wears a red vest over a cream shirt with a pink bowtie. His dark mustard pants and leather boots match with his cap and red-brown belt. But due to his semblance, he lost the use of his legs and is now bound to a special chair with four legs to move around.

Penny: "Sal-u-tations!" Penny greeted Logan as he approached. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Mr. Scarlett."

Penny wore an olive green German-styled dress with a black hem that was striped with emerald green. The abdominal region was black with four golden buttons with matching buckles on her shoulder straps. She also wore an off-white blouse with puffy shoulders, frilled flared cuffs, and vertical black lining down the front center.

Logan mentally noted that she looked like she did after she was destroyed. But it was more in line with being upgraded rather than being rebuilt. She even kept some minor pieces from her original outfit on her like the thigh-high leg pieces and boots as well as the short pink bow that was now around the upper part of her left arm.

Logan: "You must be Penny, Pietro talks highly of you and please call me Logan." Logan said to Penny as he sat down, this being the first time he formally met her. "How have you been holding up, Pietro? I know that your semblance is detrimental to your health."

Pietro: "I'm fine Logan, but I must say. Word has gotten around already about Moby Grimm's defeat." Pietro spoke seriously. "The public will be informed tomorrow but from the talks in the Atlas Council, they're planning to try to devalue your role in the battle."

Penny: "But didn't the fight just happen less than three hours ago?" Penny asked, unaware of how racist Atlas is.

Logan: "It politics, Penny, politics." Logan sighed out. "The Atlas Council always tries to make Atlas' image a picture-perfect place. The pinnacle of humanity and equality." He explained. "But, take a look around. How many of the lower class live here or how about those that are Faunus?"

Pietro: "Penny, Atlas dumped all of its resources into a massive technological leap for humans and humans alone. All due to several generations of human supremacist leaders." Pietro said solemnly. "Over time, those that live here view those that do not as barbarians. Neanderthals even. You can be in the highest part of the upper class in Mistral and be treated like royalty, but you would still be treated like you are a lower lifeform here in Atlas."

Penny: "Then, why is Atlas hovering in the air above Mantle?"

Logan: "A reminder of what they were in the past." Logan said. "Also a way to keep the 'working class' under a watchful eye." Logan then grimly chuckled. "What am I saying, it's so that they can keep their slaves from rebelling. Atlas has shields and enough reinforcements to keep it in one piece should it drop out of the sky and just so happens to destroy Mantle in the process."

Penny was shocked at what Logan was implying but a look from Pietro told her that Logan was telling her the awful truth.

Logan: "Penny," Logan whispered leaning in, "Pietro told me the truth about you. About what you truly are. I've already helped him install a program into Atlas that should you choose to, will disconnect you completely from Atlas. You wouldn't have to listen to their orders or fear them should they try to control you forcibly. You can be your own person."

Pietro: "You can be free from them." Pietro told his daughter. "And with Logan's unique ability, he can turn you into a real person, not just a construct of metal and dust. But flesh and blood."

Penny: "I..." Penny started but stopped.

Logan: "Take your time, as long as you need." Logan said in a calming manner. "This is a big decision for you, Penny. You don't have to rush this."

Penny: "... I won't be able to stay in Atlas if I want this, would I?" Penny asked after a few seconds. "Or Mantle for that matter either."

Pietro: "It's something be Logan and I have talked about in great detail." Pietro spoke. "Nither you or I could stay. Once you disappear, Atlas would come looking for me; possibly in hopes of making another like you. I would have to leave as well to keep that from happening."

Penny thought about what was laid before her deeply. Logan knew that whatever she decided, Penny wouldn't budge from it. Honestly, Logan already had an idea of what she would decide since he had a decent understanding of her personality. And when she looked at Logan after coming to a decision, he knew what she chose.

Penny: "I'm sorry, but I decline." Penny said rejecting Logan's offer. "I just can't leave in good conscious. Too many people would suffer if I do take this."

Logan: "I figured, but the offer to turn you human still stands." Logan said as he got up. "Pietro has my number on speed dial if you ever change your mind or need something. I'm just a call away."

Penny and Pietro watched as Logan left and flew away. Pietro soon left with Penny in tow but she was deep in thought. Her mind wandered to 'what ifs' and things that could happen. Pietro saw this and just held Penny's hand. A simple but kind gesture that she appreciated nonetheless. Soon the two of them paid and left, heading back to Pietro's clinic in Mantle. After getting there, Penny helped out around the clinic till night fell.

Penny: "Pardon me, Father?" Penny asked as she shut and locked the clinic's front door.

Pietro: "What is it, Penny?" Pietro responded while going over patient records. "Do you need something?" He asked with a smile.

Penny: "It's just... never mind." Penny tried to say but stopped herself.

Pietro: "You want to know if you did the right thing by declining Logan's offer, right?" Pietro asked as he made his way over to his daughter. "While you could have become human and not have to worry about Atlas controlling you anymore, you didn't want to leave the people here in Mantle."

Penny: "But, how did..." Penny asked, confused.

Pietro: "Penny, I both built you and taught you everything I know." Pietro chuckled at his daughter's confusion. "When Logan first came to me with the possibility, I told him how it would go and what you would choose. So he understood what you would choose to stay as you are for the People of Mantle. Now you're wondering if you choose right."

Penny: "..." Penny just quietly nodded her head.

Pietro: "Penny, my darling, you are my daughter first and foremost." Pietro said as he made his way to her. "No matter what you choose, I would be proud of you. But you choose to put the innocent people of Mantle ahead of your own selfish desires, and that is what makes you human. Not flesh and blood, not the metal, circuitry, or dust that makes you, but the choice of doing what you believe to be the right thing to do." As Pietro got right up next to her, he hugged her as tight as he could. "You are my light in this world and there's nothing that will ever change that fact. And no matter what you do, I will always be proud of you."

Penny: "Daddy..." Penny hugged Pietro back as she sobbed into his shoulder.

But unknown to either of them, a single clear tear rolled down Penny's face.

{A/N: Hey guys, short chapter due to me being burned out.

This is mainly due to a new guy (been there three months) getting promoted over me (Four years and counting) and messing up my work schedule when it was, for over two years, the night shift. My job has a policy that if anyone that works the night shift for over six weeks has the right to two weeks to get their sleep schedule reset. He has been hounding me about it and will not listen to reason, so I have been working with my fellow employees to get this fixed as I am not the only one he has done this to.

So far, Human Resources have been doing their job and are in the process of fixing what he has done. A normal chapter should be out next week like normal, plus I'm trying to tie up loose ends in my story so it doesn't have glaring plot holes.
