Chapter 36: The Shattered Mirror

Scarlet grumbled and huffed under her breath, she didn't really care where she was going next. The feeling of being evil again flowed through her body like a virus, she wanted nothing more than bloodshed and carnage. The rift opened over a town, Kuoh Town. Which was home to the Kuoh Academy, which was also the place of Scarlet's next unlucky targets.

"Ara, what do we have here? I wonder what unlucky people I'll rain hell down upon in this world." Scarlet said with a small grin on her face. "I'll just have to find out, but first...." She sniffed the air as she was trying to see if she could pick up Queen's scent but couldn't. "Looks like she isn't here." She fell through the air, but there wasn't much of a gap from where she was and a building that was below her. She landed on the roof as she glanced around, she squinted her eyes and scanned her surroundings.

"Hey come on we're going to be late." Yuuto said as he was running down the street with Issei in tow. "You know damn well Rias and the occult research club doesn't have all day to wait on us."

Issei groaned, he had a late start to the morning because of what had happened the other night. "Look man, it isn't my fault okay. Something just came up last night that got my attention." Of course this was a lie, what really happened was. his foster sister Asia was healing some of his wounds with her twilight healing magic. He had a sparring session with Akeno that same night to become stronger for any new threats that were or would going to be a challenge.

"Sure man, you keep telling yourself that." Yuuto said crossing his arms as he continued walking down the street. "Don't complain to me if Rias chews us out for being late."

Scarlet listened as she knelt down, she rubbed her chin and grinned. "So there's a school around here? Judging by the uniforms it's an academy." She stood up and watched the two boys for a moment. "Well, time to take a page out of Cinder's book and be a transfer student." She ran towards the other end of the building and jumped off, she landed on her feet and stalked Yuuto and Issei to the academy.

As Scarlet followed Yuuto and Issei, they both were stopped as Rossweisse approached them. Scarlet hissed under her breath as she hid behind a wall, she listened to what was going to be said amongst the three.

"There you are." Rossweisse said crossing her arms. "Rias Gremory is waiting up ahead."

Issei looked at her before looking over at Yuuto. "Well, you were saying? Anyway, I'll go on ahead to meet up with her."

Yuuto raised an eyebrow up as Rossweisse turned her attention to where Scarlet was hiding, she walked over to Yuuto as she placed her hand on his shoulder. "We might have company." 

Issei was already gone ahead of them not hearing what was said, Yuuto sighed as he turned around. "Whoever is there, come out."

Scarlet stayed silent as her eyes glowed. She walked out from her hiding spot, she looked at the two for a moment before speaking. "Ara Ara, you found me." She looked innocent, but under her act she wanted to rip their heads off. 

"Who are you?" Rossweisse asked getting into a fighting stance. 

Scarlet tilts her head innocently as she smiled. "Who me? I'm a new transfer student."

Yuuko stood there as he was going to summon his sword, but Rossweisse held her arm out in front of him ."A transfer? The administrator didn't mention anything about a transfer student today. Who are you really."

"Ara, I'm not surprised you don't believe me." Scarlet said with a small grin. "But I really am a transfer student."

Yuuko scoffed as he looked at Rossweisse. "She's asking for trouble, whoever she is. We might have no choice but to fight her."

"Fight me?" Scarlet asked, those were the magic words she wanted to hear. "Ara Ara, you really want to fight lil ol' me?" She snickered as she cracked her knuckles and laughed. "Well then, come on you fucks, show me whatcha got."

Issei arrived at the school, where he was met by Akeno. She smiled a little bit with a small lustful look in her eyes. Issei chuckled a little bit, but he did turn around to see where Yuuko and Rossweisse were. He didn't see them, which got him a bit curious.

"Huh... they were with me. What could be keeping them?" Issei asked with a puzzled look on his face, he wanted to go back to check up on them. But Akeno placed her hand on his shoulder, he turned his head to look at her, confused by what she would or might say.

Akeno didn't say much at first, but she did let go of his shoulder. "I'm sure they're fine, I'll go take a look for them." She had a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach, something was telling her the two had run into a bit of trouble. "Don't worry about me though. I can handle things, if push comes to shove."

Issei hesitated for a moment, but he also wanted to go with her. To be sure things were okay, but he knew Akeno wasn't weak or fragile. "Okay, I'll let Rias know then. But if you're not back in time, we will go look for you."

Akeno giggled a bit as she gave him a kiss on the cheek. "I know you will." She then walked off and then started to run down the street, she was now heading towards the direction Scarlet was currently, along with Yuuko and Rossweisse. 

Scarlet chuckled as she licked her lips, she turned her head towards the two on the ground. "Good, you're both obedient dogs, kneeling before their masters feet and licking them." She kicked Yuuko in the face as she snickered. "You two are just cattle for the taking, but I like to play with my prey before I... well, consume them." She was about to grab Yuuko by the head, suddenly a bolt of lightning struck down near Scarlet. She jumped back before she could do anything else.

"So, you're the one who is causing a late tardiness for them both." Akeno said with a small chuckle as her hand sparked. "I must say, I didn't think there would be a day someone could out match Yuuko and Rossweisse."

Scarlet tilts her head and smirked. "Oh? And who do we have here?" She chuckled under her breath as she kept her smirk on her face. "Did you come here to save them? How sweet, but it turns my stomach to see how pathetic you all can be." Scarlet had definitely changed, she put her family behind her. Something in her changed, either for the better or the worse. "So tell me, what's your name?"

"My name?" Akeno asked with a curious look, she put her left hand on her hip as she shook her head a little. "Why does it matter what my name is? It won't do you no good in remembering it, but I can tell you this. You're dealing with a human hybrid. A fallen angel who is a reincarnated devil."

Scarlet started to laugh. "You? A fallen angel....? Don't make me laugh, oh wait.. you already did." She chuckled once more as she glared at Akeno. "If you really consider yourself a reincarnated devil... then I have news for you." Scarlet dashed towards Akeno and kneed her in the gut, cussing her to puke up blood. "You're not as terrifying as I am." She backed up as she watched Akeno clinch her stomach and fall to her knees. "I will show you what true despair is."

Akeno coughed and gagged as she winched. She laughed a little bit before slowly standing up. She looked at Scarlet, her eyes widened as she saw Scarlet with her Nevermore wings. "You.... you're a..."

 "A fallen angel? Perhaps, but I'm not some mere holy hybrid like you." Scarlet flapped her wings as she lifted up off the ground. "I'm the real devil reincarnated... not some wannabe, I've slaughtered countless people in my time. And you think a lousy wannabe like yourself can scare me?!" She flew towards Akeno and went straight in for the kill. 

Akeno smirked as she teleported out of the way, she then kicked Scarlet in the back of her neck. Knocking her down to the ground below, she was flying above her with her bat wings. "You're not the only one who can have wings. Except, I can choose to have bat wings or fallen angel wings." She used her magic on Scarlet, sending fire towards her. "The Gremory clan will get word of this battle, and you will not stand a chance against Rias or the others."

The Grimm girl hit the ground hard as the air from her lungs were taken away, she gasped as she laid there. She was getting herself together to stand up when she felt the fire from Akeno hit her, she burned up. The fire consumed her completely as her entire body was in flames, Akeno looked on with a smug look on her face.

"That was too easy." Akeno said with a laugh, she looked over towards the school as she crossed her arms. "My oh my, I'm going to be late....." She was about to fly off, but Scarlet snickered as she jumped up into the air and grabbed her. Akeno yelled out of shock and surprise, how was she still moving? "How are you?"

"Surprised?" Scarlet asked with a grin, her body still burning as she held Akeno. "You should be" She gripped onto Akeno tightly as she laughed. "You're not going to get rid of me so easily, I'm immortal. Cut me up, slice my head off... burn me to a crisp, I will always come back." She then threw Akeno down as she flew down and was about to slam her knee into her stomach, but Akeno teleported out of the way. "Tch, she ran away. No matter." She stood up and dusted herself off, the fire died down as her body healed itself. "I have your scent, I will find you."

Akeno barely got away, but her teleportation took her back to the school. She was in the Gremory room, where Issei and Rias were. As for Xenovia, Koneko and Gasper, they weren't there. It seemed like those three could've been somewhere else, but there wasn't any mention of them in the attendant listing. Akeno gritted her teeth as she slumped against the wall, Rias looked over to see her slumping against the wall.

"Akeno, what in the world happened to you?" Rias asked, she was concerned for her friend, the redhead walked over to her as she knelt down. "You look like shit."

Akeno chuckled a bit, she looked at Rias and then at Issei who had came over to offers her a hand, Akeno grabbed his hand as she felt him pull her weight up. In all actuality. Akeno couldn't stand too well, Scarlet did a number on her. She smiled weakly for a moment before speaking. "Someone attacked Yuuko and Rossweisse... I didn't get her name." Akeno closed her eyes as she felt disappointed, not just because she didn't get Scarlet's name, but for also leaving Yuuko and Rossweisse behind. "I know, I should've brought Yuuko and Rossweisse with me when I teleported. But I had to act quickly."

Rias was silent, the same could be said for Issei, both of their auras flowed off them. It was clear they both were pissed off, not at Akeno though. "She's going to pay, she's messing with the Gremory clan." Rias' red hair glowed with her aura. 

Issei was also glowing from his aura as well, he clinched his fists tightly. "Akeno, stay here. We'll deal with this mysterious girl." He was about to leave with Rias, but Akeno grabbed his arm. He turned around to look at her, he had a confused look on his face.

"She's....she's not human, not from what I could tell." Akeno said looking away. "I used my fire magic on her, but she just brushed it off like it was nothing. I don't know if she's still on fire or not." Akeno goes silent for a moment, then suddenly out of nowhere. grenade was tossed through the window, not just any old grenade, but dust grenade.

The three in the room looked at it for a moment before it exploded, the dust grenade was strong enough to set the room up in flames. Scarlet snickered as she walked through the fire, she grinned widely and pointed her finger at Akeno.

"I found you, and look here... you've cornered yourself with more cattle, just for me to consume. How thoughtful." Scarlet spoke as she slowly approached Akeno but stopped, she looked over at Rias and Issei. "So you must be the famous Rias Gremory. I must say... your bust is bigger than a certain blonde I know, or well... knew." It was obvious she was talking about Yang, but she snickered again. 

Akeno got into a fighting stance as Rias was confused about who Scarlet was talking about. Issei put his arm out in front of the two, his arm covered in his booster gear. "So you did that to Akeno, I won't forgive you!" He gritted his teeth hearing Scarlet snicker. "What do you want from us anyway? If you have business with a clan. Then I'd advise you to take it some place else."

"Clan? I don't belong to any clan." Scarlet said as she chuckled under her breath. Her Nevermore wings folded behind her as she licked eyes with Akeno, not paying Rias or Issei any mind. But she continued to talk to them all. "But I can let you know one thing..." Her eyes glowed as she smirked widely. "You all are nothing but cattle, for me to prey on. To consume..." She laughed as she wiped her mouth almost as if she was drooling. "Now I'm getting hungry."

Issei backed away, grossed out by what he heard. "Cattle? We're not cows! We're people. We're not harvested as food for some.... some cannibal!"

"Oh ho-ho." Scarlet laughed a little bit, her grin widens more. "You think.... I care about what I'm doing is cannibalism. I was born to consume and feast on others. It's in my blood, It's what makes me different from you humans." She slowly walked closer, but Issei ran towards her and punched her in the cheek. The punch was a little powerful to send her spiraling through the air. She crashed onto the desk, as it gave out and collapsed under Scarlet's weight. 

"You idiot, now I have to replace that desk..." Rias said with a small sigh and shook her head a little bit. 

Scarlet got up as she had her back facing them. "I actually felt that one..." She rubbed her cheek a little. "That hurt." Scarlet turned around as she glared at Issei now, she used her semblance to stop time as she then dashed towards Issei, she gabbed his face and slammed him against the wall. She repeated this motion for a few moments. She then turned her attention towards Rias as she punched her in the gut several times, then slashed at her clothing with her nails and lastly she snapped her right arm and dislocated her shoulder. Scarlet blinked as time resumed, she crossed her arms as she stood there in front of the three, grinning widely. 

"What the hell?" Issei asked as his nose was bleeding, his face was bruised and he had scrapes and cuts. "What just happened?"

Rias screamed in agony and pain, her right arm went limp. Scarlet snickered as she kicked Rias in the gut before turning her attention to Akeno, Issei growled as he charged at Scarlet, not thinking twice about the consequences.

"Wait Issei!" Rias yelled out, but it was too late. Scarlet tilted her head to the side as she caught his fist before he could land a punch, Issei was struggling to get his hand free from hers.

"Tsk, tsk. You humans are so gullible. But that's what makes farming you cattle fun." The Grimm girl laughed as she tossed Issei down, slamming him hard onto the floor. "Now you two play nice while I have fun with this one here." She let go of Issei's hand and put her attention back on Akeno.

Akeno panted as she held her left arm, her face was bruised and cut as blood trickled down from the cuts her uniform was also torn in certain areas. She winched in pain as she was trying to put her arm back into its socket as it had been dislocated, she held back a yell but it didn't help any. Akeno screamed in pain as her yell drew Scarlet's attention towards her hiding spot, even though the Grimm girl could smell where she was at.

Scarlet snickered as she dragged Black Rose across the floor slowly, the yell was loud enough for Rias and Issei to hear. Issei was armored up as he clinched his fists tightly, Rias noticed as she put her arm out in front of him, stopping him from making a fool out of himself and going towards the location.

"Rias what the hell?!" Issei asked as he looked over at the redhead. "Akeno is in trouble!"

Rias was quiet as she didn't even say much. She had a gut feeling it was going to be a trap. But then she finally spoke. "Don't be a moron Issei, I get it. Akeno was the one who took more damage than the two of us and Xenovia, Koneko and Gasper are nowhere to be seen. I haven't a clue on where they could be, and you just want to rush in to fall for a trap. If it is one, you're going to be one helluva fool to get yourself fucked up by a girl we can't even lay a finger on."

Issei scoffed and cursed under his breath. He looked at Rias for a moment, he didn't care if it was a trap. He wanted to save Akeno, even if she could handle things herself. He wasn't going to just sit by and do nothing, but he also knew Rias was right.

Scarlet approached the area Akeno was at, still dragging Black Rose across the floor. "Born in Lust, turn to dust.." She stopped as she was at the door to the room Akeno was hiding in, she swung her scythe at the door cutting it open. Her eyes glowed as she looked through the opening, she reached her arm in to unlock the door. "Born in Sin.... Come on in."

Akeno screamed as she was cornered, Scarlet unlocked the door as she walked into the room. "You're a dirty little girl aren't you? Running away from me. Your death is inevitable." Before Akeno could act, Scarlet dashed towards her and grabbed her leg. She swung Akeno over her shoulder and slammed her down hard on her back, the crunching sound of her spine snapping could be heard. 

Akeno was now paralyzed, she couldn't believe her ears. Her spine just snapped, Scarlet snickered and tossed the paralyzed Akeno towards the wall. She walked over towards her and grabbed her head, she smashed her head into the wall and yanked her out. Then she smashed her head through the window, her crimson red eyes glowing with carnage and murder. "Is this what you've been hiding? Is this what your true power is?" She laughed as she looked out the window seeing the horror on Rias' face. "What's wrong, did I break one of your toys? You're welcome."

Rias was burning with hatred and anger. She looked directly at Scarlet, she gritted her teeth. "You've messed with the Gremory Clan, and my friends. I won't let you get away with this!"

Scarlet snickered as she tossed Akeno aside. "Oh? And what are you going to do? Bore me to death with a poem? Bahahaha, don't make me laugh... wait a minute, you already did!" Her grin widened as she jumped out the window.

Rias growled as she cashed after Scarlet, Issei tried to stop her but Rias was already gone from his sight. "Dammit, she's going to get herself injured..." Issei stood there for a moment as he sighed, he shook his head a little. "I need to find the others, but I also need to get Akeno someplace safe."

Scarlet ran down the street snickering and laughing, she sprouted her Nevermore wings and flew through the air. She could smell Rias tailing her, but that was all part of her plan to begin with. "That's right you shithead, follow me. And then.... I'll see to it that you die slowly and painfully." She snickered again, but out of the blue. She was hit out from the sky by Rias, Scarlet was sent spiraling downwards through the air and down to an aquarium below.

Scarlet crashed through the Aquarium as Rias jumped down from the hole in the ceiling as the fish tanks and other tanks cracked allowing the water to seep out from them. Scarlet groaned as she stood up, she yanked some glass out from her leg as she glared at Rias.

"You talk a lot of shit for someone who likes to talk out of their ass." Rias said as she dashed towards Scarlet and kneed her hard in the gut. "Why don't you stop talking out of your ass and show me that power you used to paralyze Akeno?"

Scarlet coughed up blood as she held her stomach. "Hehe, you really want to know that badly huh?" She slammed her head up against Rias' chin knocking her back a bit, gaining some distance between them. "I love it, you're nothing but cattle compared to me. You're too much, you're a joke. Cattle like you are supposed to shut up when spoken to, bowing down to the ones who slaughter you." Scarlet popped her neck as she grinned. "Besides, you can't spell slaughter without laughter."

The little headbutt made Rias bite her tongue, which started to bleed. The redhead glared at Scarlet as she spoke, it sickened her to her stomach hearing how she saw everyone on Earth as nothing more than food. The pit of her stomach churned, she hated how Scarlet thought she was better than them. "See... there you go again, speaking out of your ass. For someone who's supposed to be the one to end all human life... sure isn't doing a good job." 

Scarlet gritted her teeth, but she smirked as she licked her lips. She didn't say anything for a moment, she grabbed Rias' arm and pulled her towards her, which was something Rias was planning without Scarlet knowing. Her body glowed a crimson red, this caught Scarlet off guard, she had no idea what Rias was doing or why she was glowing.

"You're just making my job easier by the minute.." Rias mumbled as she smirked. "Why don't we level the playing field?" Rias glowed more, eventually she unleashed her destruction power. Everything was engulfed by Rias power of destruction, including Scarlet. 

Scarlet was damaged the most out of every, half of her body was gone. She growled, pissed off at what Rias had done to her. "You little shit." Despite her current situation, her body started to slowly heal itself. 

Rias took notice of this, she was shocked and surprised. There was no possible way someone could've survived her destruction power. "Just what the hell are you? No one can survive that attack, even if they were to dodge."

Scarlet snickered a little. "I'm a Grimm... a human hybrid to be exact... though I should consider myself to be a clone of someone I know. But I'm putting that aside for the time being..." She grins widely . "You humans, always seem to amaze me on your reactions to me.... which makes hunting you so much fun!" 

Rias scoffed as dashed towards Scarlet, the Grimm girl smirked as her body continued to heal itself. She moved out of the way and grabbed Rias's hair and pulled at it. Rias got yanked back, falling over onto her butt, she glared up at Scarlet watching as her body was almost done healing. "I'll kill you, you hear me?"

Scarlet laughed loudly. "Kill me? Please..." She cracked her neck and back as she stretched. "Maybe I didn't make myself clear...." She knelt down and leaned in closer. "You all are nothing but cattle for me." She licked the side of Rias' face before moving back. "But, you should feel honored."

Rias cocked an eyebrow up, she was confused on what Scarlet meant by that. "What do you mean? What are you getting at?"

The Grimm girl snickered and smirked, she took a few steps back from Rias. Her Nevermore wings folded behind her, her feet started to rip open and tear apart, talons replaced her feet. She flew off the ground after flapping her wings, she didn't fully go into the air. Just enough for the nails of the talons to shine within the sunlight. "Seeing as I still have my wings, even though your power half blew me in half... I figured... why not show you something... something you would never forget." She grinned widely. "And before you compare me to any villain you may have faced... I'm nothing like the others."
