Chapter Fourteen

A blue beam pierced through the small eight-legged insects as the area in front of me was cleared. Behind me, the sounds of combat were resounding as a giant pale blue ursa slashed through the same arachnids I just pulverized.

"You know-"

I remarked absently, my aura supplying the power to my gauntlets as a transparent blade emerged from my forearms.

"-Now that I think about it, I really should have brought Dantte."

The mutter went unheard as the sound of ground cracking sounded from next to me as a yellow streak of lightning crackled from the other.

"You mentioned him before, would he really have been that much of a help?"

Apparently, it wasn't as unheard as I thought, but that didn't really matter as two aura arcs left my blades, crashing forward a shot from my blaster destroyed the very essence of a larger arachnid.

"He can clone himself, so this would have ended sooner."

The blade of aura slashed through smaller, faster arachnids, the conflicting nature of the two clashed and one overpowered the other as the constructs of magic dissipated.

Small ravens, the same color as the Ursa that was fighting on our side, tore through a good portion of Grimm that were surrounding us and I took the moment to look around, ignoring the Ace ops and looking for the entrance of the nest.

"I see nothing, we need to move."

Winter may or may not have nodded, but I did spot the Ursa disappear as multiple Beowolves of the same color took their place.

"Gather!"

The Ace operatives gathered around as a large, canine skull materialized in front of me. The giant skull towered over the whole team as they gathered behind it just in time for the blue ball of energy to shoot forward, disintegrating anything in its path as the wind pushed anything close to it away.

With the path cleared, the team moved, dashing through as the small Grimm closed in like a tidal wave.

Creating a small Gaster Blaster in the air, I turned to one of the ace operatives.

"Vine! Throw Harriet on the Blaster!"

Vine, a skinny, pale man wearing a standard Atlassian uniform looked at the blaster in the air and nodded. His hands became covered with a green Aura, forming three-fingered, elongated arms over them.

They extended, grabbing Herriet, a short woman with her hair shaved on the sides wearing an exoskeleton, and with a few spins, threw her in the sky at the blaster.

I focused back on the incoming wave of the Grimm that was closing the only way we could go. Creating a smaller, but still large skull, I cleared the path yet again.

The comms buzzed and the voice of Harriet sounded in my ear.

[I see the entrance where the Aracnids are pouring out from, in front of us, on the side of a cliff.]

Well, that was good, we needed to get there as fast as possible.

"Alright, I'll clear a path, Schnee, send the nevermore inside the hole, I'll cover it when we enter."

The communication was cut and I saw the blue colored birds rush in front of the group.

I saw Vine catch Herriet in my peripherals as I blasted another beam forward. No, seriously, how the hell are there so many of them here, even last time, there weren't this many.

Frowning as we finally reached the opening, I swung my arm blades to get rid of the Grimm in the immediate area as the others entered. Turning around and jumping into the hole, I used a blaster to cover the hole.

Inside, it was more severe than out. In an enclosed space, they had the free reign to crawl on the roof, on the walls, and hold off the specialists.

All in all, we were having a bad time.

"What now?!"

The shout was from Elm, a bulky woman with short hair, her current weapon was in hammer form, trying her best to hold off the oncoming horde with her aura pulsing over her body.

Rushing over to them, I slammed my hands together and the mechanism activated, deploying the small shield as the small but sturdy coverings moved and combined.

Light and energy dust deployed from my gauntlets as a holographic shield expanded from the edges and electricity ran over it.

The shrieks of the Grim echoed through the cave as each of them was either killed off due to being too small or blasted back.

"Alright, let's move, we don't exactly have much time, your auras are not in great condition."

A small blaster formed in front of the shield that took care of the bigger arachnids.

This was already getting troublesome as it was.

... Dantte better not have stoled a motorcycle while I'm gone.

-Back in Vale-

"Bless you, boss."

Dantte rubbed his nose and nodded at his underling, looking over the collection of motorcycles that would get them a good amount of money, But, first, he needed to keep two, one for himself and the other for his buddy old pal.

Sniffing one last time, he shoved his hands inside his pockets and went to check out every single one of them to pick one of the ones that would be most suitable for the two of them.

This was detrimental to his mission, after all, if he didn't keep at least one motorcycle, how would he gain the respect of the people he did not give a shit about?
