At this point, Edith's father was extremely smug among his hangers-on.

His hangers-on kept asking Edith's father for help with things too.

But Edith's father didn't show any dissatisfaction, in fact he relished their flattery greatly.

Not long after, news of her father throwing his weight around in Alston's company using her name reached Edith's ears.

Hearing this, Edith was furious.

She never imagined her father could stoop to such lows.

If Edith was legitimately Alston's wife, then fine.

But the problem now was that Edith's marriage to Alston was fake.

Yet her father was conducting himself this way at the company.

It made Edith feel awful.

Every time her father caused chaos at the company, she owed Alston a favor.

Edith was currently trying to divorce Alston.
