Chapter 29 - The Child Makes the Mother Noble 

Alston sighed. He thought Edith liked children but was too proud to admit it and preferred to suffer in silence. 

So he tried to persuade her gently. 

"This child was a misunderstanding to begin with. But if you want to keep it, then I..."

Before he could finish, Edith directly interrupted him.

Edith couldn't help staring with wide eyes: "I want to keep it? This isn't even my child. Why do you keep relating this child to me?"

Alston immediately replied: "Haven't you been helping lvy all this time? Don't you like this child?"

Edith was stunned by Alston's mental gymnastics. 

What was he thinking? How could she possibly like his child with someone else? 

And to even make her a stepmother to this child. 

It would be too laughable to say this out loud.
