James!

"That's no problem then, once again, the offer is there should you need it."

"I appreciate it, but for now shouldn't you get ready to leave for school, from what I understand you aren't able to leave for the initial period of your education which is around four months or so. I had a friend who attended back in the day but got kicked out after a while. It's a shame; he was a really nice guy."

"Are you talking about Joshua Garrett?"

"You know Joshua? How the hell do you know Joshua?"

"I met him in the library, he taught me to read and write, he's also giving me the recommendation to the academy with his status as a teacher in the city."

"Seriously, I haven't heard from him since he got kicked out from the academy and that's been almost twenty years by now, has he been living as a hermit this whole time?"

"I don't know what he's been doing or what his motives were for living under the radar for so long, but I can imagine he had a good reason for it."

"I'm sorry, I'm going to have to go and see him, It's been so long since I've seen any of my friends from way back when."

"That's fine, feel free to go if you need to, I only needed to see you about the business anyway. I have a few more things I need to clear up before I leave anyway, I have to get on with that before I run out of time.

Once again I feel I really need to thank you for all the help you have given me so far, everything I have wanted to do so far has only been possible because you didn't act prejudiced against my age as most would."

"If I were prejudiced against people then I would be nowhere near as far as I am, it is honestly one of the few weaknesses my competitors have, they only cater to the nobles, and while they do hold the majority of the wealth, they are less willing to spend it."

"Nonetheless, we definitely need to keep in touch while I'm at school. Despite what you may think you are the only person I see as a friend in this world, and while that may be sad to you, it is something that I will cherish in the future."

"I appreciate that James, it really has been a pleasure to get to know you, even if your methods are a little unorthodox it still has been a great experience seeing your plans come to fruition, I've been glad to be a part of them as well."

After saying his goodbyes to Fletcher, James headed to the inner district to see if his 'father' had been able to locate any more crystals. It seemed that the aftermath of his actions had caught up with him though; his wife had made him move into one of the smallest servant houses on the property.

He had been left out in the cold, but it could still be seen as a small price to pay for his actions which could have potentially ruined his whole life.

If the kingdom had found out about his actions, he would have been stripped of his position, and everything awarded by the kingdom would be reclaimed which included his estate.

This was one of the deciding factors in his wife's decision to not tell the kingdom about her husband's affair as well, at least this way she would be able to give her son a better childhood.

While the kingdom didn't frown on polygamous relationships, one thing that was universally hated was cheating on your spouse or spouses. This was something that James felt was a massive upside of this world if there was ever one thing he had felt bad about it was people breaking the trust between themselves and their lover.

"So, have you been able to find any other crystals?"

"I've had to recover this whole time; you cut off my hand, after all. I'd say that is a good enough reason not to have any, isn't it?. There was that energy crystal that we had our sights on but it, unfortunately, disappeared after a while, so I think it's either been used or locked up."

"I'm going to be attending Elanaid academy for a few months now probably; and if on my return I hear you have tried to do anything to affect my businesses or people I will end your entire family.

Actually no, I won't kill your kid, I'll leave them to fend for themselves on the streets just like I had to, let's see if they survive that."

"I understand that you can hate me, but if you ever hurt my family I will do everything in my power to stop you!"

"But aren't I already family, I mean you've already harmed me enough for a lifetime so shouldn't you kill yourself as penance? If I was to take your kid and throw him out on the streets to fend for himself on the streets, I'm sure you wouldn't just stop at cutting off my hand after all.

Also if you want to pick up that piece of trash brother of yours then go to this address, you may want to bring some money to help smooth over everything as my men have gotten attached to him in the past few days."

"You really are a sick bastard; you know that?"

"Well, you're not wrong about the bastard part I suppose, but as far as sick goes, maybe you should think about your actions before you mention anything.

Anyway, that's all I wanted to say, from today if you find any news about crystals and I find out you haven't told me about it I will make sure everything you have is ruined, that's all I have to say."

The moment James was finished talking he left straight away, he really despised having to spend any amount of time with that man.

James was heading back to his yard to start packing and prepare for his venture out to Elanaid academy, but a few minutes after he left the nobles, he heard a voice and turned to see someone running towards him.

"James!"

And that's the end of the first volume folks. Coming soon will be a regular release rate and hopefully a more exciting story, I must admit It's been quite dull so far with getting everything established.

As always, don't forget to leave a review and vote if you've enjoyed the story, it lets me know people are enjoying my work or if there's anything I can improve on.

Also, Happy New Year!
