News Update

The following few days passed by. James was not sure about the time anymore, as he barely slept and thereby stopped tracking the time properly. These past few days were similar. As the demonic beasts had lost a majority of their fighting power, on the day of the hybrids attack, their ferocity died down considerably. Because of this, there was less need of soldiers on top of the walls.

Instead of defending the walls, James spent the majority of his time in the infirmary. He was helping the medics with taking care of the wounded. He was not the only one that spent the majority of their time close to the infirmary. As every knight and soldier who came together with Gerald was curious about his situation, they also camped out over there. There have even been a few nights where they slept outside in the cold.

Having finished a day of work in the infirmary, James sat down on the ground leaning on the wall. Looking tired, James was making some drawings on the ground with his dagger. As he was working on this, he noticed a pair of boots in front of him. Following the boots up to see who it was, he was greeted by a smoking bowl.

"Here, warm yourself up with some warm soup. You have barely eaten these last few days." Standing there was Francis. Not wanting to deal with declining him, James tried to force a smile, as he accepted the bowl. After handing over the bowl, Francis sat next to James. "It has been over a week now. We have lost over 100 people that day. And we still have a lot of injured who are getting better. Luckily the demonic beasts decided to slow their attacks." Trying to fill in James, Francis was sure of himself that what he told James barely made it to him.

Looking at Francis, James tried to pay attention, yet the tiredness of the day's work as well as the spiritual exhaustion he has, James could not pay much attention to Francis. Instead James looked down into the soup and picked up the spoon it, trying to get something in his stomach.

As James took two spoons of soup, he looked around. The mood in the surrounding was not much better. The loss of so many soldiers as well as the injury of the prince demolished everyone's eagerness. Everyone was focused on the door, waiting to get some news concerning the condition of the prince.

At this point, James only had negative thoughts concerning this subject. It had taken so long, by now they would have known something already, yet everyone is still left in the dark. Maybe the prince already died, and the higher ups are trying to hide this to prevent a mass rout.

Thinking of various scenarios about what could happen, the door opened up. The one that exited was Sir Edward. Unlike the day of the hybrid attack, the look on Sir Edward's face had more passion. Seeing this, all the soldiers surrounding the infirmary stood up.

As Sir Edward stood in front of the crowd he spoke up, "I am happy to announce to you that the health of the prince is improving. Just now he was even able to move his fingers. I am sure that within the coming days, he will be back on his feet and able to lead to all again."

Hearing these words, the crowd first became death silence, until someone threw his fist into the air and shouted "Long Live His Highness! Long Live Prince Gerald!"

With these words, everyone surrounding the infirmary started to chant and shout the same words, causing the ground to shake. Just with a few words Sir Edward said, the whole morale on the ground increased tenfold.

The coming few chapters, time will move a bit faster.

In the story, barely one week passed by and the moths of demons is something that takes around 3 months.

Therefore some days which are less eventful will be skimmed over with some small summaries about them.
