Extra Request

The first home that they visited was in the harbor district. The route that Alice explained during their way to the house is that she preferred to go to the farthest place first and then get closer to the store. Because of this, they decided to go first to the harbor district.

Because of the location of the house, it took a while to travel towards it. This was something that Loraine immediately disliked. Getting to the city center would be a hassle that they might have to partake every day. Especially if they find a place to work in the center of the city.

Arriving at their destination, the previous complaint that Loraine had was totally gone. Because of the location, it the harbor district was almost as populace as the city center. Of course, the center has a different enjoyment to it, but there was a nice vibe to the harbor district.

As for the house, it was a two story building with a decent garden. Back in the capital, this would be a house fitted for a wealthy merchant. Looking at each other, it looked like that the eyes of both James and Loraine shone because of the house.

Moving inside the house, Alice explained a bit about it. The previous owner was a merchant, who decided to move to a better location closer to his shop. Moreover, he had recently renovated the house, so many things are at a pristine condition.

The couple could not get enough of the house and visited every room separately. It is apparent that the previous owner had taste. Taking their time, Alice broke their enjoyment, "We still have two more places to visit. If you are ready, we should head back to the next location."

With those words, the couple got back to their senses and remembered that they still had different options. Nodding Loraine kindly said, "Please, lead the way."

Their next destination was at an area where a new district was being built. There were many new houses. Even the sizes of these houses were rather big. It was clear that they were planning to create a new district for the wealthy.

"Well this is the second destination. As you can see, the houses here are rather new and also rather big. Because there is still a construction going on, the prices of the houses are currently at a lower rate. However, I am certain that they will get a lot more expensive when they are finished." Alice mentioned some information about the new houses and the district.

On their way to the place, James did notice that there were a lot of run down houses. Even the slums of the city were a street down the road. He decided to mention this, "I have noticed that there are a lot of run down houses close by. Even the slums are just a few feet down the road."

"Yes, that is indeed true, however I am sure that they will soon demolish those places." Alice replied on James' comment.

As for the house, it was indeed a big place. This would be comparable to a noble's house in the capital. Even the house that James' family owned was not as big. This was an interesting point. However there were some negative aspects to it. The first being that it was too close to the slums. As for the second, the waterway was a bit off.

Because of the previous reasons, the couple did not linger too much in this house. Alice got the cue that the couple was not as enthusiast about this house, and decided to lead them to their final destination.

The last place that they went was actually a few streets from Alice's store. Because of its location close to the city center, the house was quite a bit smaller compared to the other two houses. It was just a three story building that was crammed in with the others.

The building was both old and had not much space for a garden. However it was close to the city center. Moreover there was a waterway close by with some small ferries that were transporting people to the docks. These were actually plus points for the house. Moreover the house being small was also a positive aspect, as they would not be too noticeable when they moved in.

Having seen all three houses, the group finally returned to Alice's office. As she sat down she spoke up first, "Those are the three houses that would meet your requirements. I know that there is a lot to think about. As it is almost getting dark, I think that you should think about it for the night and give a decision about it tomorrow."

Agreeing with this idea, James stood up, just to realize that Loraine was still seated, not willing to move. Surprised by this, he turned around to look at Loraine as she spoke up, "To help with the decision making, I actually have another request. Depending on the availability and the price of course, I will have a decision already ready for you."

Hearing this, Alice looked amused. As for James, he had no idea that Loraine would come up with an extra request, so it almost looked as if he was the only one that knew nothing about the whole change of events.
