Closing In

"Damn, where did they come from?" soldiers started to cry out when a heavy cavalry charge hit the rear. "Where is our reinforcement? What are they doing in the compound?" Questions were being thrown left and right. The Herewealth soldiers did not expect the sudden reinforcement of the other two armies.

"Sir! You have to retreat. This does not look good." A guard spoke up as he closed in to a knight, which was in the middle of the fray. "Your father will become furious if something would happen to you."

Grinding his teeth, Edgar looked around with an annoyed look. He did not expect that the other sides would be able to react this quickly to their attack. That was the biggest surprise for him. And now they were slowly getting encircled. He had to do something. Quickly looking around, he called out for a trusted guard.

"Sir. What can I do for you?"

"We have to find a way out of here. Lead a group of soldiers and charge into the enemies that are attacking our rear. When an opening is created, we will retreat as fast as possible. When that happens, I expect you to hold the line until I… no the troops have retreated."

"Yes sir! I will do my best!" The knight called out, making a fist and put brought it to his chest. Turing around, the guard called out several soldiers and made his way towards the rare of the group.

'Now is the time for me to also leave. I cannot linger to…' His train of thought was broken by a loud shout that came from the front, where the clash was happening.

"Edgar! You bastard! Come and fight you coward!"

With an angered expression, Edgar looked at the location where the voice came from. The moment his eyes met the one responsible for the insult, his expression froze. This quickly hanged by a slow building rage, which was directly followed by a wicked smile. The one that dared to call him out and insult him was none other than James.

Hacking through some easy opponents, James was slowly making is way deeper into the enemy lines. With the reinforcement from Warren, the state of the battle had turned into their favor. This was their chance to repay for their blunder. If they could deal a heavy blow towards the enemy, they could slowly come into a more favorable position.

Dodging the incoming sword, James gracefully turned around and stabbed his swords towards the unguarded soldier. Having fought extensively for a long period of time, exhaustion slowly started to get to him. However, there were still many enemies in front of him. He had to perform better. With the fury of the day fueling him, James pushed forward as he was cutting down enemies in front of him.

"Sir! Don't get too ahead. We are getting the upper hand already, you do not have to push too much!" a voice called out to him.

Not having the time to look back, James was busy dodging the incoming attack as he swiftly counter attacked. The only focus he had is to go straight and take as much as possible enemies with him. Tilting his head up to see how many people were left, he noticed the face of the one person that he hated with all his heart. The one that tried to ruin his life countless of times, and in the end was even able to ruin his quit life. If it was not for him, he would now have spent the rest of his life with the woman he loved, Loraine.

Rage building up, James shouted towards that individual, "Edgar! You bastard! Come and fight you coward!"

Seeing the one person he hated the most, James noticed that he had a chance to catch him. As they were now not in the same army, he now had the chance to pay him back for everything that he had suffered at his hands. 'If only I could fight him. I am sure that he will parish beneath my sword.' James thought as he was slowly getting closer to Edgar.

The only fear that James currently had was that Edgar would run away, tail behind his legs. If that were to happen, he would lose his chance to get him. He would had to search for him again and deal with it another way. This was something that he could not do.

Barley dodging an incoming sword, James lost his vision of Edgar as he had to concentrate on the situation he was currently in. He still had some distance between him and Edgar. A distance he had to close in before it was too late.

Stabbing the one in front of him, he had finally the possibility to look back at the position where Edgar was. However there was no one there anymore. Bitterness filled his mouth, he had lost the chance to attack Edgar. He slipped out of his grasp.

As he was turning his head to focus on one of the soldiers that was closing in, he instinctually dodged away. Looking at the unexpected sword, he saw the one that was holding it.

The instant he did, his eyes fired up. The thing that he had wished for was not happening. In front of him was Edgar, the person he hated to his bones. The one that ruined his life. The one that had to go.
